Katunayake Airport OIC And Three Others Arrested Over Helping A Detainee To Escape
A Special Police Team had arrested Four police personal including the Police OIC attached to Internaional Airport in Katunayake ,A Police Sergent and two Police Constables over escaping of a detainee from the Police Custody yesterday (25).
The four suspects were arrested over helping the detainee to escape from the Police custody.
The escaped detainee who is a 28 year old person resided in Kalutara District (Western Province) was arrested by the Immigration and Emigration Department officials over attempting to go abroad under a fake name.
Elections Commission Requested Speaker To Intervene To Find Funds For The Election
The National Elections Commission had (24) requested the Speaker Mahinda Ylapa Abeywardane last friday(24) to intervene to get funds to hold the local government election in March as planned .
The
had decided to postpone the local government election scheduled to be held on 09 th of March citing lack of funds received for it .Commission is due to announce a fresh date for the election on 03rd of March.
Fourty Six Piligrims Injured Due To An Accident In Kandy
Fourty six Pilgrims had been injured and hospitalized after the Bus they were travelling from Moratuwa to International Buddhist Center in Nelligala (Kandy District) had fallen down a precipice at Nelligala area this evening (25).
Fourty of the injured had been admitted to the Peradeniya Teaching Hospital and six critically injured persons had been admitted to the Kandy Teaching Hospital for treatment it has been reported.

Five Pesons Had Been Arrested Over Robbery At Indian Visa center
Police have detained five persons over stealing a laptop and DVR Mechine from the visa center attached to the Indian embassy in Colombo on 14th of February .
All the suspects are residents of Colombo suburbs and a 63 year old female is also among those suspects Police Media Spokesman has stated.The stolen Laptop was found from a canal at Kirulapona area according to the Police.

The United National Party (UNP) had abolished the Party membership of 1137 Local government Councillors elected from the Party over supporting other parties .
The Central Committee of the UNP which met today(21) has unanimously decided to abolish the party membership of these local Councillors elected to 341 Municipal/Urban councils and Pradesheeya Sabhas in 2018.These councillors had already handed over nominations for the forthcoming local government elections from other political parties.

A 38 year old person had died after a heavy Solar power Panel Box had fallen over him whilst transporting it to a factory in Morawinna Industrial zone at Morawinna Panadura area(Colombo District ) last evening (17),
The deceased Person was a worker attached to the factory resided in Urubokka area at Matara District (Southern Province) and he died after admission to the Panadura Base hospital with serious injuries .The worker had faced this incident when a container truck carrying a stock of Solar power panel boxes had been toppled overt he road and one box had fallen over him it has been reported.
Two Persons Were Killed And Another Two Injured Due To An Accident In Kolonna
Two persons were killed and another two had been injured and hospitalized after the Three wheeler they were traveling in fallen to a precipice in Kolonna-Deniyaya-Rakwana Road at Jambugaswetiya area(Ratnapura District ) last night ( 17).A 62 year old male and a 61 year old female had died at the spot due to this accident and the two men of the ages 62 and 24 had been admitted to the Kolonna hospital with serious injuries .
The reason behind the accident has not yet been revealed and Police believes that the irresponsible driving may have caused this accident ,

Office Of Public Utilities Commission Chairman Had Sealed
The Colpetty Police had sealed the Office of the Public utilities commission Janaka Ratnayake due to the some incidents that are being occurred at the office which may causing an inconvenience to the government according to the Police Media spokesman SSP Nihal Thalduwa.
According to the SSP thalduwa the sealing of the office of Public utilities Commission chairman has done as a result of the court order issued by the Colombo Fort Magistrate .Poice have taken the order from the Colombo Fort Magistrate after submitting the facts related to some incidents that are being occurred at the office of the commission chairman.
Public utilities chairman is currently in abroad and his office will be reopened once he returned to the island the Police spokesman has stated .
Elections Commission Requested IGP To Provide Additional Security To State Printing Corporation
National Elections Commission had informed the Inspector General Of Police (IGP) to provide an additional security to the State Printing Corporation (SPC) enabling to carry out the printing work of the forthcoming local government election without any disruption .
The relevent letter was forwarded to the Inspector General Of Police yesterday (16) according to the IGP .
The state printer Gangani Liyanage had announced last wednesday that the Printing work of Local government election is being disrupted due to the insufficient police security provided to the Printing Corporation .

A Sri Lankan Female Had Died Due To Earthquake In Turkey
A 69 year old Sri Lankan female resided in Turkey has been reported as died due to the massive earthquake which hit Turkey and Syria last Monday (06)..
The deceased female's body had been recovered from the site and was identified by her daughter according to the Sri Lankan embassy i Turkey .The deceased female had migrated to Turkey twenty years back from Galagedara area in Kandy city (Central Province ).
Five Building Had Been Damaged Due To A Fire Erupted At A Coir Manufacturing Factory
Five buildings had been severely damaged due to a sudden fire broken out at a Coir manufacturing factory at Miriswatte area on Katana-Divulapitiya main road at Katana Police division (Western Province) .Five fire engines and five water bausers are being deployed to douse,the fire it had been reported.
The fire engines had managed to douse the flames of one building by noon according to reports .However no casualties have been reported as a result of the fire the reports have stated.

A University StudIn Chilaw ent Has Drowned In Chilaw Sea Area
A 23 year old Student attached to the Ocean University in Mattakkuliya area(Colombo District) had drowned and dissappeared after drifting away by rough sea waves whilst bathing in sea area near the chilaw resort .
The missing student had faced this incident whilst bathing in the sea area with his friends whilst on a picnic it has been revealed.He was a resident of Bandarawatte area in Rambukkana (Central province)Chilaw Headquarter Police are investigating on the disappeared student.

Another Earth Tremor Had Been Reported From Monaragala District
Another minor earth tremor had been reported in wee hours of this morning (11) at Wellawaya area in Monaragala District (Uva Province ) according to the National Building Research Organization (NBRO).
The 2.3 magnitude minor tremor was recorded around 3.48 a.m this morning accordance to the NBRO.The public have been urged to stay calm by the authorities as there's no danger from the tremor .A Tremor had been occurred at Buttala area of the Monaragala District yesterday ( 09) as well.
Two University Students Were Arrested With Three Fake Rs.5000 Currency Notes
Police have arrested the two University students according to the information provided by a fruit stall vendor when the Rs.5000 fake note was paid to the vendor by one of the suspects.
Police have recovered another two fake Rs.5000 notes in possession of the two suspects .During the questioning the two suspects had revealed that another person had given them the fake Rupees five thousand notes and requested them to exchange those to real notes and they were provided a commission for doing that.
Akkaraipattu Police are investigating to arrest the person who had given the fake notes to the University Students .
Four Higher Officials Of Railways Department Interdicted Over Stealing A Stock Of Steel

A Father And Daughter Had Drowned In A Kumbukkanaru River
The incident occurred when the father who was a teacher in profession had visited to see the Kumbukkanaru River along with his three children during school holidays and a daughter had slipped and fell to the river when she is trying to take a selfie near the bridge area it has been revealed .The father who had tried to save the life of his daughter had alos drowned along with the daughter according to police .Police with the help of divers and residents of the area had launched a mission to rescue the father and daughter but had recovered their bodies after four hours .
