State Minister Ranjan Ramanayake Handed Over Details Of 24 Politicians Who Are Taking Narcotics To Speaker And CID

Development Ranjan Ramanayake has today (18)told he has handed over the details of 24 Politicians imcluding Parliamentarians ,Cabinet ,Deputy and State Ministers as well as provincial councillors who are taking narcotics imcluding Cocaine, to Speaker Karu Jayasuriya and Criminal Investigations Department (CID ) to do the needful.
Addressing a Press briefing held at his official Residence in Madiwela,Colombo this morning (19)State Minister Ramanayake who had earlier revealed there are Parliamentarians who are addicted to Cocaine and other narcotics, said aides of these politicians as well as higher officers of the government too taking narcotics.
Due to investigations carried out on them he cannot revealed their names at the moment state Minister has further said .

Police Arrested Two Persons With 20.35 Kilo Grammes Of Kerala Cannabis
Police Anti Narcotic Bureau officials
have arrested two persons who brought 20.35 Kilo Grammes of Kerala Cannabis to the Kandakuliya sea coastal area in Kalpitiya in wee hours of this morning (18).
Police officers have also taken in to custudy the stock of Kerala Cannabis brought by the suspects along with the Boat.
The suspects who are 49 and 53 years old persons residing in KandakuliyakUdawa area are due to be produced before the court tomorrow (19).

Four Persons Killed And Nineteen Critically injured Due To A Bus Crash At Marawila
Four Persons including three males and
a female had been killed and Nineteen persons had been critically injured and hospitalized after the Semi luxury bus they were travelling in crashed in to a huge electric transformer near Mahawewa junctoon on Chilaw -Colombo main road in wee hours of this morning (18 ) it has been reported.
The critically injured including sixteen males and three females had been admitted to Marawila Base Hospital for treatment. Among the injured are three Army personal and Police believes there were armed forces personal amongst the deceased as well.
The incident occurred due to the inability of the bus driver to control the high speed of the Bus it has been revealed. The Bus had veered off the road when the driver attempted to prevent colliding the bus with a Container Truck.
However the injured Driver was arreSted by the Marawila Police over the incident. He is now receiving treatment at Marawila Hospital under the police protection.
Marawhile Police personal along with villagers of the area had rescued the Passangers from the bus and transported them to hospital it has been revealed.

Around 83 percent Out Of The Total Annual Deaths In The Country Are Due To Non Communicable Diseases-DDDG NCD Says
Around 83 percent out of the total number of deaths reported from Sri Lanka annually is due to Non Communicable Diseases (NCD's) according to Deputy Director General Of Health Services attached to Health Ministry Dr.Champika Wikramasinghe .
Addressing a National Seminar on "Promoting Primary Health Care " held at BMICH recently Dr.Wikramasinge has stressed that out of the annual NCD deaths 34 percent are due to Cardiovascular diseases ,14 percent are due to Cancers,9 percent are due to Diabetes and 8 percent are due to Chronic Respiratory Diseases.
Around 17 percent who are suffering from NCD'S are at risk of dying prematurely she has stated.
The identified risk factors which lead to NCD's are Alcohol Consumption -around 4 liters above 15 years old persons ,Physical inactivity around 29 percent ,Daily salt intake -10 Grammes ,Tobacco smoking around 13 percent ,Raised Blood Reassure around 24 percent among adults,Raised Blond sugar around 8 percent among adults ,Obesity around 4 percent it has been revealed.
Regarding services available to treat NCD's in Sri Lanka 100 percent medicine and Technology available to treat them Dr.Wikramasinghe has stated.
In future Health Ministry has planned to introduce Family Physician concept to Sri Lanka to prevent spreading of NCD's it has been reported.
