A Fisheries Boat Had Caught Fire After Begining It' s First Journey

"Janath Putha-2" fisheries Boat made by
the Ministry of Fisheiries had caught fire in mid sea area soon after begining  it's first journey from Dikowita fisheries harbour today(22) along with a  other boat "Janath Putha-1 " it has been reported.

The boat which caught fire is in sea area 51 kilo meters away from Hikkaduwa and the fishermen in the boat were rescued by the other boat sailing  with it.

America Avoids MP Namal Rajapakshe From Travelling To USA From Russia

Joint Opposition MP Namal Rajapakshe
who is the eldest son of former President Mahinda Rajapakshe was not allowed to travel to Houston in United States Of America by the American authorities ,from Russian capital Moscow where he had participated as an Independent observer of the recently concluded Russian Presidential Election it has been reported.

MP Rajapakshe who had attempted to board an Emirates Aircraft in Moscow to travel Houston to participate a funeral of his relative was not allowed to travel as per an instructions issued by the Home affairs Ministry in USA to the Emirates Airline offocials it has been revealed.

The cause of the decision has not yet been revealed.

Three School Boys Were Remanded Until 05th Of April Over Posting Hatred Posts In Social Media

Colombo Chief Magistrate has ordered
to detain three School Boys arrested by the Criminal Investigstions Department (CID) over posting posts in Social Media sites indicating hate and anger over a community at the Makole Child Detention Center until 05th of April.

The three suspected school boys are attached to a popular schools in Colombo .

Police had arrested Three persons over  transporting  02 Kilo Grammes of dangerous "Ice"narcotic in a van from Madurankuliya -Karykuttiya area to  Colombo today(22)  at Baththaluoya road barricade on Chilaw-Puttlalam road.

The suspects  are residents of Negambo area and the estimated value of the haul of natcotic taken in to custody in their possession is around Rs.20 million.

Police believes that the "Ice' narcotic may have been brought to Sri Lanka via sea route.







A Businessman Was Arrested With Around 78 Gem Stones In Possession

Airport customs officers had today (22)
arrested a 44 year old Businessman while attempting to smuggle A stock of 78 gem stones weighing 388 carrots to Malaysia at the Katunayake ,Bandaranaike International Airport.

The Gemstones were bought by the suspected businessman from another businessman for cheeper prices and he had attempted to smuggle them to Malaysia to sell them for higher priced it has been revealed.

The estimated value of the stock of Gem stones taken in to custody in possession of the suspect is around Rs.2.2 million according to reports.

Customs had confiscated the stock of Gem stones taken in to custody and released the suspect who is a resident of Dompe area  on Rs.25,000 bail.

Party Leaders Decided To Debate The No Confidence Motion Against PM On 04th Of April

at the Parliamentary complex had decided to debate the no confidence motion handed over against Prime Minister Ranil Wikramasinghe on 04th of April.

Accordingly the no confidence motion  Debate will be held from 9.30 a.m to 9.30 p.m on 04th of April and the vote will take place at 9.30 p.m .

The No Confidence Motion against Prime Minister signed by 55 MP's including 51 Joint Opposition MP's was handed over to the Speaker Karu Jayasuriya yesterday at Speakers office in Parliament by the Joint Opposition Group.

Three Joint Opposition MP's including Former President Mahinda Rajapakshe did not signed the motion .

Two Sri Lankans Were Arrested With 117 Illegal Cigarette Cartons

Airport customs officers had today
(22)arrested two Sri Lankans arrived from Dubai who were attempting to smuggle 117 Cigarette Cartons illegally to the country.

The two suspects who are residents of Balapitiya and Ambalangoda areas had concealed the Cigarette cartons inside their luggage.The estimated value of the Stock of Cigarette cartons is around Rs.1.17 million according to the customs .

The suspects were released on Rs.75,000 and Rs.25,000 bail respectively after confiscating the Cigarette cartons.

President Instructed To Stop Land Refillings And Constructions That Destroying Muthurajawela

President has also ordered to stop all land refillings in Muthurajawela wetland  that  have been handed over to private  institutions by the state sector.

President had also instructed the authorities to take stern action against  any state official that found as  encouraging or had encouraged damaging  the environment including Muthurajawela .

President had taken these measures after visiting the Muthurajawela Wetland Sanctuary today.Local media had continuously shown the damage done to the environment in Muthurajawela since years.

Two Persons Were Arrested Over Attempting To Collect A Parcel Contains Cocaine At Central Mail Exchange

The two suspects who are residents of Wattala area were arrested while attempting to take the Parcel by bribing a worker in Mail Exchange it has been revealed.

The Central Mail Exchange had received the parcel  in January this year  and as no one arrived in t o collect the parcel the Customs had taken the Parcel in to custody as it is labelled as a suspicious parcel. .

A Student Was Drowned And Killed While Bathing In Kothmale-Ramboda Water Falls

An 18 year old  Year 12 student was drowned and killed while bathing in Kothmale-Ramboda water falls this noon (22).
The student who was attached to a school in Dam Street Pettah (Colombo) had faced this incident while returning Colombo after concluding a visit to Nuwara-Eliya with a group of his fellow students and teachers .
The deceased had suddenly drowned in the water of Kothmale-Ramboda Water Fall and residents of the area had recovered his body and sent it to the Kothmale Hospital for the Post Mortem.
