Health Ministry To Establish State Owned Pharmacy In Every Main City

The Ministry Of Health,Nutrition And Indigenous Medicine has instructed the State Pharmaceuticals Corporarion (SPC) to establish a State  owned Pharmacies (Rajaye Osu Sala) in every main city in the Island for the benefit of patients.

At present there are 30 State Owned Pharmacies  situated throughout the Island and the Ministry has planned to establish new Pharmacies in Nagoda,Gampaha,Beruwala and Piliyandala before the end of this year .

State owned Pharmacies are selling good qualiy drugs for reasonable prices under the National Drug Policy.

Police Have Recovered A Body From The Hikkaduwa Beach

Police have recovered a body of a 35 year old person who believed to be fallen to the sea while under the influence of liquor at Hikkaduwa Beach it has been reported.

Earlier the wife of the deceased had lodged a complaint to the Police by stating he was missing since last Wednesday.

Hikkaduwa Police are investigating on the incident.

Six Persons Were Injured And Hospitalized Due To A Van-Private Bus Collision At Anuradhapura

Six persons were injured and hospitalized last night due to a Van-Private Bus collision occurred in Saliyapura Area on Anuradhapura-Madawachchiya main road it has been reported.

The injured were admitted to the Anuradhapura General Hospital for treatment.

The accident has occurred while pasengers were boarding to the private bus it has bern revealed..

Sri Lankan Food Festival Has Begun Today (14)At Viharamahadevi Park

The three day Food Exhibition and the Agro Products Fair "Sri Lankan Food Festival"has been innaugurated by Minister of Agriculture Duminda Dissanayake  at the Viharamahadevi Park this evening.

The festival which is Organized by Ministry Of Agriculure will be open for public free of charge on this Saturday (15)and Sunday(16) from 10 a.m to 10.pm daily.

The Exhibition will include display of Indeginous Local Food,Educational Programmes,Special Seminars on Food,Entertainment Zone and Musical Shows it has been reported.

President Sirisena To Leave For India Tomorrow (15)

President Maithripala Sirisena is due to leave India tomorrow (15) to attend the International Relations Conference BRICS Outreach Summit to be held in Goa ,India on 15th (Saturday) and 16th ( Sunday) of October with the participation of five member countries.

The heads of states of five member countries Brazil,India,Russia,South Africa and China  will participate the summit along with heads of states of Bay Of Bengal Initative for Multi Sectoral Technical And Economic Corporation including Sri Lanka.

During the Summit President Sirisena is due to hold bi lateral talks with several heads of states who are participating in the summit.

To achieve this target Sri Lanka should utilize global economic trends as well as new technology Prime Minister has stressed.

Gampaha Magistrate Has Issued A Verdict On Rathupaswala Incident By Stating It Is A Crime

Gampaha Magistrate Court has today(14) given a verdict that the Assaulting and killing of three youths during a protest campaign held  in  Rathupaswala Area at Weliweriya (In western province) in the year  2013 is a crime.

The Gampaha Chief Magistrate Kavindya Nanayakkara has issued this verdict when the Rathupaswala Case was taken up for hearing at Gampaha Magistrate Court this morning.

Out of the  three youth who were killed during the protest campaign held at Rathupaswala regarding a drinking water issue  two were killed due to a gun wounds and other was killed after being attacked by an object the Magistrate has stated.

A Retired High Rank Army Officer Committed Suicide After Accepting The Responsibility Of Lasantha Wikramathunge's Murder

A high rank retired Army Officer has today (14)committed suicide at his house in Kegalle District after writing a letter stating he is accepting the responsibility of killing former Editor of" Sunday Leader"Newspaper Lasantha Wikramathunge.

The 52 year old former Army Officer has requested from his letter to release the Army Intelligence Officer who is in remand regarding the killing of former Sunday Leader Editor and hand over his letter to the Army Intelligence Unit according to the Kegalle Police.

The post mortem of the deceased was conducted at the Kegalle Teaching Hospital.

Navy Personal Found A Haul Of Kerala Cannabis left Inside Of A Boat At South Of Point Pedro

Navy Personal have yesterday (13)found  around 17 kilo grammes of Kerala Cannabis left  inside  a  Fibre Glass Dinghy (,Boat) at seas off South of Point Pedro(In Northern Province).

The haul of Kerala Cannabis and the Dinghy were handed over to the Point Of Pedro Police for future course of action.

Eight Students In Kandy Schools Handed Over To Rehabilitation Over Keeping Cannabis In Their Possession

Teldeniya Magistrate Court has today (14)handed over eight students attached to three leading schools in Kandy to Child Care Service for rehabilitation after they were produced before the Magistrate Court  on charges of keeping  Cannabis in their possession.

The students were earlier  arrested by the Police at Oruthota in Teldeniya Area with School Uniforms while keeping Cannabis in their possession.

The Teldeniya Magistrate Court has  also granted personal  bail for the eight students with Rs.25,000 each.
