A Mother And Daughter Were Injured Due To A Wild Elephant Attack While On The Way To Scholarship Examination

A Mother and Daughter had been
injured and hospitalized due to a Wild Elephant Attack at Mahiyanganaya area this morning (05) while travelling in a Motorcycle to the Handaththawa School in Mahiyanganaya where the injured girl was due to sit for the Grade five Scholarship Examination .

The injured were admitted to Mahiyanganaya Base Hospital For treatment.

However as the Injured girl needed to sit for the examination she had left the Hospital later to the Examination hall for the Examination on temporary permission it has been reported.

Her mother is still receiving treatment at the Hospital.

Three Persons Have Died Due To Three Wheeler-Bus Collision

Three Persons including an Eight year

old child had died and a female had been critically injured and hospitalized after the Three Wheeler they were travelling colliding with a Lorry near the Kumbukkana Junction at Monaragala-Wellawaya main road yesterday (04).

The four critically injured had been admitted to Monaragala Base Hospital and three of them had succumbed to their injuries on admission.

The critically injured female is still receiving treatment at the Monaragala Hospital.

The deceased had been identified as 08 ,19 and 22 year old residents of Ethimale area.

The incident occurred when a Lorry colliding with the Three Wheeler while attempting to overtake a Bus it has been revealed.

Two Persons Have Died After Falling Sick During A Party Held In Wadduwa

Two persons have died and two others were hospitalized after suddenly falling sick during a party held at a Hotel in Wadduwa Beech last night (04).

Four Persons who had fallen sick during the party had been admitted to the Panadura Base Hospital and two of them of the ages 20 and 36 years had died during receiving treatment at the Hospital.The deceased were residents of Divulapitiya and Kesbawa areas. 

The cause of the deaths has not yet been revealed.Wadduwa Police are conducting an investigations over the incident.

There Will Be No Salary Hike For MP's -President Maithripala Sirisena

There will be no salary hike for MP's
and Minister's of the country at this moment  and will not allow to pass any proposal regarding such a salary hike according to President Maithripala Sirisena.

Addressing a Public Rally held in Polonnaruwa this evening (04) President has stated that as a President he is  receiving  Rs.95,000 per month .But a Parliamentarian is receiving  more than his salary per month .The Monthly salary of a MP is around Rs.400,000 including allowances he has stressed.

A Principal Was Arrested Over Sexually Molesting A Female Student

A  Principal attached to Government
Tamil Mixed School at Mullikulam in Mannar had been arrested yesterday  (03)by the National Child Protection Authority officials over sexually molesting a 15 year old female student of the school.

The incident occurred at the Principal's  Rest Room of the School last December according to reports.

The suspected Principal had been arrested after recording statement from the School staff including teachers it has been reported.

He is due to be produced before Mannar Magistrate Court.

Two Persons Were Arrested While Attempting To Sell Two Elephant Tusks

Two persons had been arrested by the
Special Police Task Force Personal in KilinochchI  over attempting to sell two highly valued huge Elephant Tusks at Kanagarayankulama area in Vavuniya last evening (03).

The two suspects who are residents of Paranthan and Kanagarayankulama areas had been arrested while attempting to sell 48" and 54" inch long Elephant Tusks it has been revealed.They had attempted to sell them by hiding .

The two suspects were handed over to the Kanaganarayankulam Police and they are due to be produced before Vavuniya Magistrate Court.


Around 60 Students And Parents Injured And Hospitalized Due To A Wasp Attack

Around 60  students and Parents who
attended a "Bodhi Puja" event at "Sri Sudarshana" Temple in A Yaya ,Padaviya had been injured ,11 of them critically and hospitalized due to a Wasp attack today (04).

The injured have been admitted to the Padaviya Base Hospital and 11 critically injured  had been Transferred to Anuradhapura General Hospital for further treatment.

The injured Students are due to sit for the Grade five scholarship exam to be held tomorrow (05) and their parents  according to reports.

A Large Acres Of Land Had Been Destroyed Due To A Fire In Knuckles

More than 200 Acres of land had been
dĺ to a huge fire erupted in Eastern part of the World Heritage "Knuckles" Mountain Reserve since last Thursday morning (02).

The fire has spread rapidly throughout the reserve due to the strong winds and dry weather prevailing in the area.

Authorities believes someone or a group might have lit a Fire at the reserve.

A Motorcyclist  was killed due to a Wild
Elephant attack at Damana, Ampara last night(03).

The Motorcyclist had fallen in to a nearby Canal due to the Wild Elephant Attack and the Elephant got in to the Canal and attacked him continuously with  his leg it has been revealed.

The Villagers of the area had  admitted the critically injured person to Thottama hospital and he had succumbed to his injuries after transferring him to Ampara General Hospital.
