The Elections Commission is due to submit a special motion to the
Supreme Court tomorrow(20) explaining that there's no sufficient
support from the relevant factions to hold forthcoming local government
elections
The Elections Commission had recently pledged the
Supreme Court that it will conduct the Elections as scheduled and
through this motion expecting to explain the obstacles facing by the
Commission to fulfill that pledge .Through this motion the Elections
commission is due to explain the difficulties it is facing like
inadequate funds ,inability to print the required ballot papers by
government press and inadequate transport facilities etc to hold the
elections .
The Ministry of Finance last Friday (17) informed the
National Elections Commission that providing funds for the forthcoming
local government elections will be difficult due to the current
economic crisis .
