Navy Rescued An Elephant Stranded In The Seas Of Eastern Coast

A group of Navy Personal had rescued an Elephant
caught in the currents of the eastern  sea coast of Kokkilai around eight nautical miles away from the coast on tuesday (11).

A team of Navy personal petrolling the region in the speed boat first spotted the Elephant and afterwards Navy have dispatched another vessel with navy divers to rescue the Jumbo stranded in deep seas for hours it has been reported.

Another two CEDRIC vessels  with seven Navy personal deployed for the rescue operation with the support of wild life officials.

After the elephant was rescued he was brought to ashore and handed over to the wild life officials.Later the jumbo was transported to Yan oya in Pulmudai.

CID Has Arrested The Former Media Spokesman Commadore Dissanayake Over Disappearing Youth

The Criminal Investigations Department (CID)officials have this evening (12)arrested the former media spokesman of Sri Lanka Navy Commadore D.K.P
Dassanayake over illegally abducting ,detained and disappearing of 11 youths in Colombo during 2008-2009 period.

The suspected Navy officer has been arrested after an inquiry held on the incident.

The suspect is due to be produced before Colombo Fort Magistrate court.Another three suspects arrested over the incident had been remanded.


Beware Dengue Mosquito Larvae Can Breed Inside Houses As Well-Epidemeologists

As the Dengue Mosquito Larvae  Breeding places can
be located inside houses as well ,Health workers are inspecting within houses in search of Dengue Mosquito Breeding places at present according to the Epidemeologist Dr.Preshila Samaraweera.

However most of the residents are not supporting the process of inspecting inside the houses Dr.Samaraweera has stressed.

Dengue Mosquito Larvae can breed in the ice trays of the deep freezers,in the waters of artificial waterfalls and ponds,covered leaves of indoor plants and containers in the house stored water around a week she has stressed.

Meanwhile the total number of Dengue patients reported throughout the island from January to July this year now exceeds 87,000 and 4996 Dengue patients have been reported in the island during first twelve days of this month the Epidemelogy Unit has stated.

There is A Threat Of Rangiri Dambulu Temple Loosing It's World Heritage Status -Prime Minister

There is a threat of Rangiri Dambulu Cave Temple in
Dambulla loosing it's world heritage status in UNESCO if the conservation of the temple not carryout properly according to the Prime Minister Ranil Wikramasinghe.

A need arise at present  to conserve the ancient artworks of the cave temple Prime Minister has stated during a meeting held with National Youth Bhikku Front at Temple Trees today (12).

Government has no power to govern buddhist temples Prime Minister has stressed.

A Youth Was Killed After A Giant Boulder Collapsed On A Tipper Truck

A youth was killed and another two persons have been
injured and hospitalized after a giant boulder had collapsed on the tipper truck they were in at a quarry in Dambugolla,Mirigama area this evening (12).

The three critically injured persons have been admitted to the Meerigama Hospital and the youth had succumbed to his injuries on admission to the hospital.Other injured persons have been transferred to wathupitiwala Hospital for further treatment.

The three injured persons in the tipper truck have faced this incident while they were near the quarry to purchase stones  it has been reported.

The deceased who was the driver of the tipper truck had been identified as a 19 year resident of Waeakapola area.

Meerigama police are conducting an investigation on the incident .


President Maithripala Sirisena To Offer A New House For The Sri Lanka's First Heart Transplant Donor

President Maithripala Sirisena has decided to build a
new house for the parents of the heart donor of Sri Lanka's first ever Heart Transplant performed in Kandy Teaching Hospital last friday.

The parents of the heart donor Pradeep Kumara Sampath who was declared as a brain death patient following a road accident he faced  ,living in a small  house and reported as faced with economic difficulties.

President has instructed the authorities to build the house for the parents of the deceased youth in the vicinity of their old house .Director of Kandy Teaching Hospital Dr.Saman Rathnayake has informed in this to parents of the youth during a meeting held with them at Kandy Hospital today (12).

Meanwhile the first Heart Transplant patient is reported as recovering well.

Bribery Commission Officials Have Arrested A Police Constable Over Accepting Rs.10,000 Bribe

Related imageBribery Commission Officials have arrested a Police Constable attached to the Special Crimes Investigation Unit of the Panadura Police over accepting a Rs.10,000 from an individual to grant bail for a suspect who was arrested by the Police on financial fraud ,at a private shop in front of the Panadura Police.

Bribery Commission Officials have arrested the suspected Police Constable as per an information received by the Individual who was asked to offer the bribe to the Constable.

The Constable has earlier requested the individual a Rs.100,000 bribe it has been revealed.

Three Persons Of A Same Family Had Drowned In Uma Oya While Bathing

Three persons of the same family ,Mother,Daughter and two and half year old Grand Daughter had drowned in Uma Oya at Puhulpola ,Welimada area while bathing this morning(12)it has been reported.

The three members of the family went to take a bath in a 50 feet deep area of the Oya and drowned while bathing a eye witness had informed the Police.

Welimada Police are conducting an Investigation on the incident.

Cabinet Has Approved A Proposal To Ban The Prodcution,Use and Sale Of Polythene From 01st Of September

Cabinet has approved a proposal made by the Minister of Environment and Central Environment Authority (CEA) to ban the production,use and sale of Polythene Lunch Sheets,Regiform Lunch Boxes and Shopping Bags with effect from 01st of September 2017.

Accordingly the use of Polythene sheets less than 20 microns will be banned from 01st of September the Deputy Minister of Mahaweli Development and Environment Anuradha Jayaratne.

Those individuals,Production Companies and shops  not implementing this decision on banning Polythene Products locally ,will be faced a legal action and raids will be carried out in district basis to inspect whether the ban implemented or not.

Government has decided to ban Polythene to prevent the damage done to the environment by mid 2018.

Sports-Sri Lankan Cricket Captain Angelo Mathews Has Resigned From Captiancy

Sri Lankan Cricket Captain Angelo Mathews has today(12) announced his resignation  from captaining all three formats of the game Test,One day International and T-20 after a series of defeats Sri Lankan Cricket Team had suffered during last few weeks .

Sri Lankan National Cricket Team lost to Bangladesh Cricket Team coached by former Sri Lankan cricketer Chandika Hathurusinghe during the International Cricket Council's (ICC) Champions Trophy held in England last Month and lost the One day series against visiting minnows Zimbabwe by 3-2.

After announcing his resignation  outgoing Captain Angelo Mathews has stated that he is not selfish and  resigned from Captaincy to pave the way for a new Captain to guide Sri Lankan Cricket Team .

Meanwhile after Mathews has resigned from his Captaincy of the National Cricket Team,Sri Lanka Cricket has appointed Dinesh Chandimal as the new Sri Lankan Test Captain and Upul Tharanga as the new Captain of One Day International and T-20 Teams.
