A Ship Belonging To Coastal Guard Force Of Maldives "Huravi" Arrived At Sri Lanka

A Ship belonging to Coastal Guard Force  of Maldives "Huravi" has arrived Colombo Harbor yesterday(26) for a goodwill tour.

A special discussion was also held between the Chief Commander of the Ship Captain Hassan Shinan and Sri Lanka Navy Commander Rear Admiral Jayantha De Silva to mark the Goodwill Tour of "Huravi" Ship to Sri Lanka.

The Maldivian Ship is due to leave Sri Lanka on 28th of February.

Would Like To Consider International Participation For The Investigations On Alleged War Crimes-Sri Lankan Foreign Minister

The Sri Lankan Foreign Minister Mangala Samaraweera who is currently visiting United States Of America has said on Thursday(25) that he would like to consider the international participation to the investigations on  alleged war crimes occurred during the final phase of war between Sri Lankan Army and LTTE Terrorists.

The Sri Lankan Foreign Minister has told at the Washington think tank ,with the participation of International Judges for the proposed investigations on alleged war crimes some form of guarantee can be given to victims of war that the new courts will be delivered justice and accountability in fair manner .

However Sri Lankan President Maithripala Sirisena has recently said that Foreign Participation is not needed for an impartial inquiry on alleged war crimes set to be conducted through a local mechanism.

Excavations Were Carried Out At A Block Of Land Belonging To Former President's Chief Security Officer To Recover Hidden Currency And Gold

The Police Teams have yesterday(26) excavated a block of land at Attanayala in Weeraketiya Area(In Southern Province) which belonging to  wife of Major Neville Wanniarachchi who was the Chief Security Officer of former President Mahinda Rajapakshe for the purpose of recovering Currency and Gold suspected to be buried at the property.

The excavations were carried out by under the special security of Police Special Task Force Personal and Police Officers in yesterday morning according to the sources.

The excavations were carried out according to the court order issued to the Police Financial Crimes Investigations Division.However no currency or gold buried at the property has found during the excavations the Police have revealed.

Two big holes were dug up at the block of land belonging to the wife of former president Rajapakshe's chief security officer situated near a cemetery according to Police.The digged land had used for Coconut Cultivation it has been revealed.

Vavuniya Magistrate Has Remanded The Suspect Of Rape And Murder Of A 13 Year Old Girl

Image result for court order logoThe suspect who was arrested had allegedly raped and murdered a 13 year old Girl at Vavuniya District (In Northern Province) has been remanded until 14th of March by Vavuniya Magistrate M.Manaf  yesterday(26).

The 35 year old suspect who was a  resident of  Vavuniya was arrested by Police regarding  the rape and murder of a 13 year old girl  who lived near the suspect's house on 16th of February .He was remanded after being produced before Vavuniya Magistrate Court yesterday.

The Vavuniya Magistrate has also ordered the authorities to produce the suspect for a DNA Test.

A Group of Residents in Vavuniya have recently staged a "Harthal" Campaign demanding the authorities to take a stern action against rapists.

Former Minister Of Coconut Development Has Given A Statement To Presidential Commission On An Alleged Financial Irregularity

The Former Minister of Coconut Development and Estate Development attached to  the previous government Jagath Pushpakumara has given a statement again to the Presidential Commission of Inquiry to Investigate And Inquire Into Serious Acts Of Fraud,Corruption And Abuse Of Power this morning regarding an alleged financial irregularity occurred at Coconut Research Institute at Lunuwila.


The former Minister has given a statement regarding the alleged financial irregularity occurred at his tenure on a previous occasion too.The Commission has requested him to appear again today (26)before the Commission  to give a statement on the allegation.

One Person Was Killed And A Foreign National Got Injured Due To A Car Accident At Galle-Matara Main Road

One person was killed and a Foreign National got injured due to the Car they were travelling in veered off the Road and crashed  against a  Tree near a Fuel Station at Weligama Town on the Galle-Matara Main Road(In Southern Province) this morning.

The Driver of the Car and a Foreign National rushed to the Walana Hospital with injuries and the Driver who was in critical condition at that time succumbed to his injuries upon admission to the Hospital according to  Police. The deceased has been identified as a 42 year old resident of  Paburana in Matara.

The injured Foreign National has been transferred to the Matara General Hospital for further treatment the Police have said.Weligama Police are conducting an investigation on the incident.

Around 24 Primary School Students In Agunakolapalassa Were Hospitalized Due To A Food Poisioning

Around 24 Primary School Students studying at Aluthwewa Model Primary School in Agunakolapalassa Area were  hospitalized this morning after consuming the morning meal provided them from the School it has been reported.

The 24 Grade 2 students were admitted to Agunakolapalassa Base Hospital for treatment,Their condition is  reported as not critical.

Electricity Board Has Requested Public To Use Electricity Sparingly Between 6.30-10.30 P.M

The Ceylon Electricity Board(CEB) has today(26) requested the public to use Electricity sparingly by switching off non essential electrical equipment daily from 6.30 p.m to 10.30 p.m untill the Norochchali Coal Power Plant becomes fully operational.

The sudden island wide power failure occurred yesterday(25) has caused a breakdown in Norochhalai Power Plant according to the Electricity Board.

A possible lightning strike on a transmission line between polpitiya and kolonnawa has caused the sudden power failure the Board has revealed.
