Over Rs.200,000 In Cash Missing From A Safe In Yal Devi Train

Over Rs.200,000 had gone missing from a safe in the
Yal Devi train travelling from Kankasanthurai to Colombo fort it has been reported.

The cash parcels got from Pothuhara, Muththettugala,Mahawa and Kurunagala areas had gone missing.

The railway authorities along with the police are currently investigating on the incident.


Medical Faculty Students Had Withdrawn From Lectures

Medical Students attached to eight medical faculties in
the country had withdrawn from lectures of their faculties with effect from yesterday(07) in protest against the Private Medical Collage in Malabe (SAITM) according to the Medical Faculties Students Committee.

According to the  Committee discussions are currently underway with Medical Faculty lecturers for them to join the protest.

Thirty One Local Fishermen Were Arrested In Sri Lankan Waters For Illegal Fishing

Sri Lanka Navy have arrested 31 local  fishermen while illegally
 fishing in  waters in Silawathura coast using illegal equipment.

The arrested Fishermen and the equipment were handed over to the Mannar Fisheries inspector for future course of action.

President Has Appointed a Committee To Upgrade Operations In Lake House

President Maithripala Sirisena has today(07) appointed a four member
 committee to upgrade the operations of State Owned Lake House group according to the President's Media Division .

The retired Supreme Court Judge Nimal Dissanayake is headed the committee.Raja Premadasa V.D.Dahanayake and Chandrasiri Senaratne are also members of the committee .

University Activities Have Been Disrupted Due To The Non Academic Staff Strike

University activities incluxing cleaning and clerical services have been
disrupted  today (07)due to the one day island wide token strike launched by Non Academic Staff attached to state  universities by demandng solutions for seven of their service demands.

The striking non academic staffers had conducted a protest campaign in front of the University Grants Commission in Ward Place,Colombo this noon urged the authorities to solve their demands.

Due to the protest campaign a heavy traffic has been reported from Ward Place and surrounding areas this noon .

Minister Of Higher Education and Highways Lakshman Kiriella has given a discussion for the non academic staff union members on tbis Thursday (09)  to discuss on their issues.

A Female Was Killed And Two Others Injured Due To A Cab-,Motor Cycle Collision

A 33 year old female was killed
andanother female and her child were injured and hospitalized due to a cab-motor cycle collision occurred in Vavuniya-pendrikkeidakulam area(North) it has been reported.

The injured female and her child were admitted to the Vavuniya Hospital for treatment and their condition is not serious it has been reported.

The deceased has been identified as a resident in Periyamadu-Vavuniya area and she met with the accident on her way back after dropping her child to the school in pendrikkeidakulam area.

Police have arrested the Cab driver regarding the accident .

A Person Has Died After Drowning In A Swimming Pool

A person has died and another person hospitalized
in an unconcious state  after drowning in a swimming pool belonging to a Tourist Hotel in Teldeniya(Central Province)while bathing  today(07).

Both persons were admitted to the Degana Hospital in an unconcious state while bathing in the Swimming Pool and one died after admission  to the Hospital .

The  condition of the person who is  receiving treatment in the hospital
Following the countryincident is not serious it has been reported.

Police are conducting an investigation on the incident .
