New Premier Mahinda Rajapakshe Along With Several SLFP MP's 'Taken Membership Of Podu Jana Peramuna

Newly appointed Prime Minister
Mahinda Rajapakshe has taken the membership of Sri Lanka Podu Jana Peramuna (symbol -Flower bud) along with 50 other Sri Lanka Freedom Party MP's at his official Residence in Wijerama Road ,Colombo -07 this morning (11).

Sixteen SLFP MP's who had earlier left the Good Governance government  were among those who had taken the membership of Podu Jana Peramuna .

A 35 year old Female German National has died after  falling down    from the  tourist attracted "Worlds End" at Horton plains this morning  (12)whilst attempting to take a selfie picture   there it has been revealed .

The victim J.Elgar has arrived at "World's End " with her friend.

Sri Lanka Army, Police ,Special Task Force Personal and Wild Life officers have launched a joint  search operation to find out the victim this morning .Later Airforce helicopter  had recovered her body whilst dangling from a tree at a Estate in Balangoda area around Thirty feet deep from  World's End .

Four Sri Lanka Freedom Party MP's Joined Podu Jana Peramuna

Four Former MP's attached to Sri Lanka
Freedom Party (SLFP) headed by President Maithripala Sirisena had resigned from the Party yesterday (10)and joined Podu Jana Peramuna  (Flower Bud (Phpttuwa )symbol) to contest for a future Election it had been reported.

Accordingly son of newly appointed Premier Mahinda Rajapakshe ,Former SLFP MP Namal Rajapakshe, Former SLFP MP's Shehan Semasinghe (Anuradhapura),Kanchana Wijesekara (Matara) and D.V Chanaka (Hambanthota ) had joined Podu Jana Peramuna lead by former MP Basil Rajapakshe .

Former MP Namal Rajapakshe has tweeted Podu Jana Peramuna will contest under an alliance with United People's Freedom Alliance in future election.

More former  SLFP MP's are due to take membership of Podu Jana Peramuna soon it has been revealed.

However newly elected Agriculture Mimister Mahinda Samaraweera says  Sri Lanka Freedom Party has not yet decided whether to contest along with Podu  Jana Peramuna or not in future  election and President and new Premier togather will decide that soon .

CID Arrested Three Vietnamese Nationals Attempted To Fly Illegally To Turkey

Criminal Invedtigations Department
(CID)had arrested Three Vietnamese Nationals including a young female who had attempted to flying to Turkey illegally by using a Taiwan Passport and a Malaysian National who had helped them to carryout illegal process at Katunayake Airport recently .

The suspected Vietnamese Nationals who had arrived at Katunayake Airport through Tourist visas and the Malaysian National who helped them had been sent to Mirihana Detention center after being produced before the Negambo Magistrate Court .

The four suspects are due to be expelled from the country soon it had been revealed .

UNP To Hold A Candlelight Protest Near Beira Lake

United National Party (UNP)has decided
to conduct a protest by lighting candles against Dissolvement of Parliament and for Democracy in front of Beira Lake near Gangaramaya Temple ,Hunupitiya 6 p.m this evening  (11).

A 17 Year Old Student Has Drowned In Galkuliya Wewa

A 17 year old Student has drowned
whilst bathing in Galkuliya Wewa (Tank) at Anamaduwa area with two other students last evening (10).

Villagers of the area along with Civil Defense Committee members have rescued the student; However whilst taking him to MundAlam District Hospital from a Ambulance  he has died according to reports.

The deceased student who was a resident of Galkuliya area had faced this incident Whilst attempting to swim it has been revealed.

TNA To Challange President's Decision To Dissolve Parliament ,In Supreme Court

Tamil National Alliance (TNA)will
Challange the dissolvement of Parliament by the president Maithripala Sirisena in Supreme Court according to a TNA MP M.A SumanthIran.

President has illegally dissolved the Parliament midnight last friday clearly knowing he cannot do that untill the Elected Parliament completes four and half years which is clearly mentioned in 19th Amendment of the Constitution MP Samanthiran has said.


"A group which has little support in Parliament is behind this move and they know other parties will Challange the dissolvement of Parliament in Supreme court and the court will give the verdict against it.Their aim is to take sometime to get the required majority in Parliament as Supreme Court will take sometime to give the verdict " he has stressed.


Three Sri Lankan Businessman Had Been Arrested With A Stock Of Dubai Made Cigarettes

Airport Customs officers have arrested
three Sri Lankan Businessman arrived in from Dubai whilst attempting to smuggle 287 foreign manufactured Cigarette Cartons containing  57,900 Cigarette sticks and 50 Cigarette packs to the country  at Katunayake, Bandaranaike International Airport last friday  (09) morning .

The three suspects who are of the ages 35,37 and 38 years and residents of Yanthampalawa -Kurunagala, Marawila -Chilaw and Grand pass Colombo had arrived at Katunayake Airport From Dubai.

They have been arrested whilst attempting to leave Airport through a Green channel. The stock of Cigarettes illegally brought to Sri Lanka stored in the luggages  of the suspects.

Airport Customs believes the Stock of Cigarettes worth around Rs.2.89 million brought to Sri Lanka by targeting forthcoming Christmas season .

One of the Businessmen arrested had been fined  Rs.50;000 and the stock of Cigarettes had been confiscated by the Airport Customs .

A New Student Convener Has Been Appointed To Inter University Students Federation

Inter University Students Federation 
(IUSF) which organizes University Students protests has elected the former President of the Peradeniya University Students Union Mahil Bandara Dehideniya as it's new convener during a meeting held yesterday(10 ).

He has  replaced the former convener of IUSF Lahiru weerasekara unanimously by All University Student Unions  representatives during a meeting held at University of Peradeniya.

Three Sabaragamuwa University Students Have Drowned In Pahanthuda Falls

Three Third year students attached to
the Sabaragamuwa University have  drowned today  (10)whilst bathing in Pahanthuda Ella (Falls)at Belihuloya ,Balangoda with a group of University Students it has been reported.

The deceased students who were 24 and 25 year old residents of JAFFNA District had been rescued whilst drowning by the villagers of the area and admitted to Balangoda Hospital where they have pronounced as dead after admission .

Balangoda Police are conducting an investigations over the incident.

Mahinda Deshapriya has said today (10)Election Commission is always ready to hold any Election at any time ,However avood commenting  on the status of  Parliamentary Election called by President Maithripala Sirisena on 05 th of January 2019.

When asked whether there's a suitable  enviornment prevailing in the country  to hold an Election , Election Commission chairman has said there is but indirectly stated if a majority asked him to carry an umbrella he has to follow that.

He has revealed these facts during a press briefing held today(10) at Election Secretariet  office in  Rajagiriya .

Around Rs.40,000- Rs.50,000 need to be spent if there's an election and that amount is not much when compare to present situation Election Commission Charman has stressed.

UNP Leaders Have Met Election Commission Officials To Explain The Legal Invalidity Of Dissolving Parliament

Leaders of United Natonal Party (UNP)
had today (10)met the Election Commission officials and discussed on the conflict occurred due to the dissolvement of Parliament by the President Maithripala Sirisena.

UNP Leaders have explained the Election Commission officials on  legal invalidity of the president's move to dissolve Parliament .President has dissolved the Parliament although his powers to do that restricted from the 19th Amendment UNP Leaders have said.

A group of UNP Ministers of Good Governance government including Champika Ranawake ,Dr.Rajitha Senaratne ,Gayantha Karunathilake ,Dr.Harsha De Silva and Akila Viraj Kariyawasam have participated at the meeting .

However the stand of the Commission on the issue has not yet been revealed .

Election Commission chaired by  Mahinda Deshapriya can request legal opinion from Supreme Court to find out whether the dissolving of Parliament and calling a fresh parliamentary Election is legal or not at this stage according to experts.

Meanwhile Election Monitors "PAFFERAL " has today requested the Election Commission to seek legal opinion of Supreme Court before conducting an Election at this stage .

UNP And JVP To Go To Supreme Court Next Week Against Dissolvement of Parliament

(UNP)of the Good governance government and Leftist Janatha Wimukthi Peramuna (JVP) have decided to filed court cases at Supreme Court next week  against the steps taken by the president Maithripala Sirisena to dissolve  the Parliament and calling an election in next January by violating the Constitution.

Accordingly UNP will  filed a case against Anti Democratic and Anti Constitutional move of the President  taken to dissolve Parliament last night Good governance Government Minister Mangala Samaraweera has said during a press briefing held today (10)in Colombo.

"President has no power  to dissolve the Parliament until the government completes four and half years according to the 19 th ammendment of the Constitution .Present government cane to power in 2015 and due to this the dissolvement of Parliament is clearly illegal .We are not afraid of the elections and will face elections any time " he has stressed.

President has dissolved the Parliament through a power not given to him under the Constitution Mangala Samaraweera has stressed.

Meanwhile Janatha Wimukthi Peramuna is also due to take legal action against dissolving Parliament within next week it has been revealed .

When questioned on preparing for the Election JVP Leader Anura Kumara Dassanayake has said  first they will try to prevent holding  this illegal election and then going for the next step .
