Sri Lanka's Largest State Owned Dental Hospital To Be Inaugurated On 31st Of January
Sri Lanka's largest state owned Dental Institute,the newly built ten storied National Dental Teaching Hospital in Ward Place ,Colombo built with modern technology at a cost of Rs.800 million is due to be officially inaugurated by President Maithripala Sirisena on 31st of January.
The National Dental Teaching Hospital is equipped with latest treatment/surgery facilities snd equipment has a 240 member staff including medical specialists and nurses and providing treatment and surgery facilities for the public free of charge.
It has the capacity of treating over 1000 patients dsily according to the Ministry Of Health.
The laying of foundation stone to build another ten stories for the Dental Hospital will be also taken place on 31st of January under the patronage of President during the innauguration ceremony
Police Have Arrested Two Persons With Illegal Teak Timber Logs
Police have arrested two persons who were
transporting 76 logs of teak timber without a valid licence st Alawathugoda (Central Province)area.
Along with the suspects who are residents of akurana and jambugaspitiya areas Police have also taken into custody the lorry used to transport the timber logs .

Price Of A Lottery Ticket To Be Reduced By Rs.10
The price of a Lottery Ticket which increased to Rs.30
from Rs.20 since 01st of January 2017 will be reduced to Rs.20 again with effect from tomorrow (28) according to the National Lotteries Board.
A new stock of Lottery Tickets priced Rs.20 had been issued to Lottery Agents todzy (27 the Board has stated.
President Maithripala Sirisena has instructed the authorities to reduce the price of a Lottery Ticket after the Lottery Agents had launched a strike action demanding to reduce the increased price.

Five Indian Nationals Remanded Over An Illegal Kidney Racket Have Been further Remanded
Five Indian Nationals who were arrested and
remanded over involving in an International Kidney Racket have been further remanded until 09th of February by the Colombo Chief Magistrate today (27).
Except the charge on involving in a Kidney Racket the suspects were charged with staying in the country without a valid visas and escape from Mirihana Detention Center it has been reported.
The five suspects pleaded not guilty for the charges against them during the court hearing.

A Plastic Item Shop In Homagama Has Destroyed Due To A Fire
A shop selling plastic items at Homagama(Colombo) had been destroyed last night (26) due to a sudden fire broke out in the shop.
The fire brigade of Panagoda Army Camp,the residents of the area and Kottawa Municipal council fire brigade doused the fire it has been reported.
No one was injured due to the fire and the cause for the fire not yet been revealed.
Homagama Police are conducting an investigation on the incident.

Prices Of Cataract Lenses To Be Reduced By Rs.20,000- Health Minister
The Prices of Cataract Lenses in the local market will be reduced by Rs.20,000 within next week according to the Minister Of Health,Nutrition and Indigenous Medicine Dr.Rajitha Senaratne.
Accordingly a Cataract Lens priced at Rs.30,000 in the local market will be reduced to Rs.10,000 it has been reported.Although Private Medical Companies are importing Cataract lenses from India for Rs.6000 per a Lens, Companies are selling Lenses to the patients for Rs.30,000 per Lens by earning a huge profit Health Minister has stated.
"Some Ophthalmologists(Eye Surgeons) are also involved in importing and selling of Cataract Lenses in Sri Lanka and i have an evidence to prove this"the Minister has stressed.
At present soon after the Health Ministry has instructed the surgeons attached to the Colombo Eye Hospital to perform Cataract Surgeries through Cataract Lenses purchasing under the local purchase system ,some Surgeons have stopped performing Cataract Surgeries as a step of opposing the decision as they are not anymore allowed to request patients to purchase these Lenses from the Private Sector the Ministry Of Health has stated.
It is widely believed that through requesting Cataract patients to purchase Cataract Lenses from the Private Sector ,Medical Personal too received huge commissions.

A Van Carrying A Group Of Tourists Met With An Accident At Watawala
A Van carrying a group of tourists had met with an accident at Watawala area today(27)due to the slippery conditions on roads as a result of the current wet weather pattern.
No one was injured due to the accident according to reports.The Van was traveling from Nuwara Eliya to Benthota at the time of the accident.

Heavy Traffic Reported From Nugegoda Due To A Protest Rally
Heavy Traffic congestion is being reported from Nugegoda(Colombo) and surrounding areas including Highleval road at present due to the ongoing Joint Opposition Group's Protest rally held at Ananda Samarakoon Open Air Theater ,Nugegoda.

Two Persons Were Killed And Another Two Were Injured Due To A Three Wheeler-Lorry Collision
Two persons were killed and another two critically injured and hospitalized due to a Three Wheeler-Lorry collision occurred in Kudagama area at Hatton(Upcountry) this noon(27).
The injured were admitted to the Dikwella Base Hospital for treatment and later transferred to the Nawalapitiya Hospital for further treatment it has been reported.
The accident has occurred due to a head on collision between a Three Wheeler traveling from Kotagala to Hatton and a Lorry traveling from Hatton to Thalawakale area.
Hatton Police have arrested the driver of the Lorry regarding the accident.
