Ten Persons Arrested At A Narcotic Party Held In A Night Club

Police Anti Narcotic Bureau officials
had arrested ten persons including a young female with a stock of Cocaine in their possession during a raid carried out at a Narcotic party hosted in a night club at Maitland place,Colombo -07 in the wee hours of last morning (25)  .

The raid was carried out according to an information received to Police Anti Narcotic Bureau.

A legal action is scheduled to be taken against the ten suspects arrested at the night club .

purchased 4 million Kilo Grammes of Paddy from the Yala season harvest currently on according to the Board.

Paddy purchasing Centers had been established in every District to purchase paddy harvest  directly from the farmers and Farmers will be received Rs.50 per a Kilo Gramme of Paddy that is  well prepared with quality government has stated .

However Still the all varieties of rice are being sold at the market for higher prices and some rice varieties are being sold for prices that exceeds Rs. 100 it has been reported .

Vegetable prices too are escalating  rapidly on daily basis and the price of a coconut now exceeds Rs.80 according to market sourced 

Three Injured Due To A Bus Collision

Three Persons including a private Bus
driver and two female Passangers travelling in a Ceylon Transport Board  (CTB )Bus had been injured and hospitalized due to a Private Bus -CTB Bus Collision occurred at Kandy -Kurunagala Main road today (15)according to Police.

The incident occurred when a Private Bus travelling from Kurunagala to Kandy had collided with a rare side of CTB Bus travelling in  the same direction.

The injured had been admitted to Kurunagala Teaching and Mawatha gama Hospitals for treatment. Mawatha gama Police are conducting an investigations over  the incident. 

Thirty Three Sri Lankan Students Evacuated From Wuhan ,China Released After Being Quarantined

Thirty Three Sri Lankan students evacuated from Wuhan ,China due to the corona virus epidemic had been handed over to their caretakers after being quarantined at Diyathalawa Army Base yesterday (14) evening .

These students have been quarantined for 14 days since 01st of february and they are in good health at the time of the release according to authorities .

The handing over ceremony was held at Akuregoda Army Headquarters last evening under the patronage of Army Commander General Shavendra De Silva. A tribute has been paid to the Sri Lankan Airlines crew who had risked their lives and joined the evacuation process of Sri Lankan students  from Wuhan.

Remanded Former Sri Lankan Ambassador Udayanga Weerathunga Had Been Transferred To Prison Hospital

Former Sri Lankan Ambassador to
Russia Udayanga Weerathunga who had been remanded yesterday  (14) by the Colombo Fort Magistrate had been transferred to Welikada Prison Hospital last night from P ward of Magazine prison according to a recommendation of a prison Hospital Doctor it has been reported  .

The Former Sri Lanka Ambassador had been transferred to Welikada Prison  Hospital over complaints of having piles and heart ailment .

However doctors at the Welikada Prison Hospital who had checked the condition of Udayanga Weerathunga today (15)had revealed that he will be able to transferred to the Magazine Prison by tomorrow  (16) as he is not suffering from a serious illness .

Suspect is scheduled to be transfered to the P ward of the Magazine Prison, Borella  where he had been sent yesterday by the court .Remanded MP Ranjan Ramanayake is also at the P Ward of the Magazine Prison according to sources .

An ExtraOrdinary Gazette Notification Has Been Issued To Establish Saindamarudu Urban Council

An extraordinary Gazette Notification
has been issued with the signature of  Minister of Provincial Councils and  local government bodies Janaka Bandara Tennakoon announcing the establishment of  a Seindamaridu Urban Council which is currently a Divisional secretariet with effect from 20 th of March.

Seindamaridu Divisional secretariet is currently functioning under the Kalmunai Municipal Council .

The extra ordinary Gazette Notification in this regard has been issued under the provisions vested with Municipal Council act .

A Female Motorcyclist Had Been Killed After Colliding With A High Speed Tipper Truck

A 36 year old Female Motorcyclist had
been killed on the spot after a high speed Tipper Truck had collided with her parked Motorcycle at Panagoda junction on Godagama -Borella road this noon (15)it has Been reported .

The six year old child of the deceased female Motorcyclist had been injured due to the incident and admitted to Homagama Base Hospital for treatment.

The incident occurred when the High speed Tipper Truck attempting to overtake another vehicle from left side according to Athurugiriya Police.

The female Motorcyclist had faced the incident when she had parked her Motorcycle on the way taking her child to a class to buy the child something for lunch it has been revealed.

The Truck driver had fled away from the scene and Police are conducting an investigations to arrest the truck driver.

Former Sri Lankan Ambassador To Russia Udayanga Weerathunga Had Been Arrested And Remanded Over Mig Aircraft Deal

Former Sri Lankan Ambassador to
Russia  Udayanga Weerathunga who was in hiding abroad during last few years after  he had been  named   as a suspect of contorversial Mig Aircraft purchasing deal ,was arrested at the Katunayake International Airport on his arrival  yesterday (14) and remanded until 17 th of february .

Criminal Investigations Department (CID )officials had been arrested the former Sri Lankan Ambassador to Russia on His arrival  From Muscat ,Oman through a Sri Lankan Airlines flight last morning (14).

Udayanga Weerathunga who was a suspect of the controversial Mig Aircraft purchasing deal which was regarding  the purchasing  of Mig Aircrafts for Sri Lanka Airforce from Ukraine between 2007-2009 period was earlier arrested at Dubai due to the red notice issued by  the International Police ,and  later released on bail after spending a period  of time in prison there .

After  arresting him at the Airport he had been produced before the Colombo Fort Magistrate Court after questioning  and the Magistrate had then  ordered to remand the suspect until 17 th of february.

The Former  Sri Lankan Ambassador to Russia was named as a suspect of the Mig Aircraft purchasing deal where he had received a large amount of money  ,by Colombo Fort  Magistrate court over his unlawful interference in the deal .

Udayanga Weerathunga had avoided coming  Sri Lanka although the Colombo Fort Magistrate had issued se veral arrest warrants to arrest him over the allegations levelled against him during previous  government. Even a red notice had been issued by the Interpol to arrest him..

Arrest warrants had been issued against Former Sri Lankan Ambassador  after considering the facts submitted by the Police financel Crimes Division to the court.
