Ministry Of Health To Double Specialist Doctors In Government Hospitals

The Ministry Of Health,Nutrition And Indigenous Medicine has decided to double the number of Specialist Doctors serving  in Government Hospitals in view of ease the shortage of specialist doctors  the Ministry ha stated.

Accordingly as there is a shortage of 1501 Specialist Doctors in Government Hospitals at present the Ministry has planned to increase the current number of 1577 Specialist Doctors to 3078 it has been reported.

The Ministry Of Health is currently discussing this matter with University Grants Commission and Post Graduate Institute Of Medicine to increase the number of specialist training courses in view of doubling the specialist doctors in the country.

There are severe shortage of specialist doctors on the fields like Mental Health at present it has been reported.

A Youth Who Was Engaging In Fishing At Iranamadu Stream Has Died After Drowning In

A Youth was killed after drowning in Iranamadu Stream in Kilinochchi  Area(In Northern Province) according to the sources.

The youth was drowned in the stream of Iranamadu while engaging in fishing there and died on  admission to  the Kilinochchi Hospital in critical condition  the sources have stressed.The deceased has been identified as a 20 year old resident of Malyalapuram Area in Killinochchi.

The Kilinochchi Police are conducting further investigations on the incident.

Current Dry Weather Condition To Be Lasted Until Mid April



The current  dry weather condition prevailing in the country will be lasted until Mid April according to the Director General Of Department Of Meteorology Lalith Chandrapala.

Due to the current dry weather condition those who are engaged in out door exercises and children should be careful on dehydration the Director General has stated.

The El Nino Condition prevails in Pacific Region is one of the main causes for current hot weather condition he has stressed.

Homagama Magistrate Has Released Seven Suspects Who Behaved Violently Out Side The Homagama Magistrate Court

Image result for court order logoThe Homagama Magistrate Court has today(21) released seven persons including five Buddhist Monks who were arrested and remanded on 26th of January over behaved violently  out side the Magistrate Court after  court has ordered to remand Bodu Bala Sena General Secretary Galagodaaththe Gnanasara Thero .

The Seven Suspects ,Five Buddhist Monks and two females were released on personal bails of Rs.100,000 each according to sources.

The Homagama Magistrate has ordered the five suspect monks to appear at the Homagama  Police on every Sunday until the case is resolved.

Police Have Arrested A Man Manufacturing Illicit Liquor Along With Large Stocks Of Liquor And Equipment At Wennappuwa

The Police Officers attached to the Toxic Narcotic Flying Squad of Puttalam Division have today(21) arrested a person who manufactured Illicit Liquor by using Gas along with a large stock of  Illicit Liquor and manufacturing equipment stored inside  of a   Illicit Liquor Manufacturing Plant functioning at a House in Mirissankotuwa, Wennappuwa Area .

Accordingly Police Officers have arrested a 24 year old suspect along with 8 Barrels containing 6880 Drams of Goda(Locally Made Illicit Liquor),30 Bottles containing 240 Drams of Illicit Liquor,A copper coil,Gas Cooker,Gas Cylinder and a stock of liquor manufacturing equipment according to sources.

Wennappuwa Police is due to produce the 24 year old suspect who is identified as a laborer attached to the Illicit Liquor Manufacturing Plant ,Detained stock of Illicit Liquor and  equipment to Marawila District Court.

Two Senior Police Officers Have Been Transferred With Immediate Effect

Two Senior Higher Police Officers have been transferred with immediate effect due to service requirements according to Police Media Spokesman Assistant Superintendent Of Police (ASP) Ruwan Gunasekera.

Accordingly The Senior Superintendent Of Police attached to Puttalam Division L.P.S.P Sandungahawatte has been transferred to Gampaha Police Division and Superintendent Of Police attached to Halawatha Police Division has been transferred to Puttalam Police the Police Media Spokesman has stated.

Bribery Commission Officials Have Arrested A Development Officer Who Requested Sex Bribes From Females To Issue Samurdhi Aid

The Bribery Commission Officials have today(21) arrested a Development Officer attached to Divi Naguma Programme who requested sex bribes from females to issue Samurdhi Relief Aid(A Relief Aid Provided for low income groups) at Thissamaharama Area(In Southern Province).

The Bribery Commission Officials have arrested the Development Officer at a Hotel in Thisssamaharama while preparing to accept a sex bribe it has been reported.

The suspect is identified as attached to Kataragama Divisional Secretariat and he is due to produce before Thissamaharama Magistrate Court.

A Group Of German Specialists Arrived Sri Lanka To Probe On Exploded Transformers Of Ceylon Electricity Board

A Group Of German Specialists had arrived Sri Lanka today(21) to investigate on the two transformers belonging to Ceylon Electricity Board which exploded recently.

According to the Ministry Of Power and Renewable Energy these  Specialists are representing the German Company which  manufactured the exploded transformers.

Soon after arrived Sri Lanka the German Specialists have visited the Biyagama Sub Station and Grid Sub Station in Kotugoda belonging to Ceylon Electricity Board where the exploded transformers are the Ministry has stated.

Price Of Bread To Be Increased By Rs.4 From Midnight Tonight

Image result for loaf of breadThe Price of the 450 Gramme Loaf of Bread is due to increase from Rs.4 with effect from midnight tonight according to the Bakery Owners Association.

According to the new price increase the price of  bread will be increased from Rs.54 to Rs.58 the Association has stated.

Earlier Government has increased the 1 Kilo Gramme of imported Prima Flour by Rs.7.20 with effect from 12th of March .
