Nearly 500 Coconut Plants Had Been Destroyed Due To A Fire At A Coconut Land

Nearly 500 Coconut plants Had been
destroyed due to a sudden fire erupted at a Coconut land at Alabadagama ,Pannala  today (14).

As the fire spreads throughout the land the coconut plants had destroyed severely it has been reported.

Officials of Pannala Pradishiya Sabah and Pannala Provincial Secretariet had doused the fire with assistance of residents of the area by using water Bausers.

The cause of the fire has  not yet been revealed.

Five Persons Have Been Admitted To Horana Hospital With Breathing Difficulties Due To A Gas Leak

Factory at Wagawatte,Horana had been admitted to the Horana Base Hospital with breathing difficulties due to a Gas Leak occurred at a Lorry transported  Ammonia Gas Cylinders to the factory  today (14).

The condition of two Persons who were hospitalized  is serious it has been revealed.

The Gas Leak occurred when attempting to remove seventeen Ammonia Gas Cylinders out of the Lorry it has been revealed .





Minister Mahinda Samarasinghe Has Been Appointed As Presidents Representative To The Constitutional Council

President Maithripala Sirisena has appointed Minister of Ports Mahinda Samarasinghe as his representative to the Constitutional Council .President has informed on this appointment to the Speaker Karu Jayasuriya through a letter according to Presidents Office .

Up to now Minister Patali Champika Ranawaka  represented the Constitutional Council behalf of President and his official term has ended on 05 th of September .As a result president has made this new appointment.

The Constitutional Council  is comprised of ten members.

Eight Prison Inmates At Anuradhapura Prison Begun A Fast

Around eight LTTE suspects remanded

at Anuradhapura Prison had begun a continuous fast since this morning (14) demanding the authorities to file court cases against them if there are any charges.

Altogether around Ten LTTE Suspects are under detention orders at  Anuradhapura Prison at present .

CID Has Filed A Court Case Against Former Minister Ravi Karunanayake

Criminal Investigations Department
(CID) has today (14)filed a court case  Colombo Chief Magistrate Court against former Finance Minister Ravi Karunanayake over providing false evidence before the Central Bank Bonds Commission .

When the case was taken up for hearing today before the Colombo Chief Magistrate Ranga Dassanayake ,Senior Government Advocate Lakmini Girihagama has informed the court that the former Minister Karunanayake has provided false evidence before the bonds Commission.

The court has ordered the CID to produce a report to the court  over the allegations levelled against former Minister on 28 th of September .

Investigations Begun On Allegations Levelled Against DIG Nalaka De Silva Over Conspiring To Assassinate Two Higher Officials - President

Special Police Investigations Unit has
already begun the investigations on allegations leveled against the Director of Terrorism Investigations Division Deputy Inspector General Of Police (DIG)Nalaka De Silva over implementing a conspiracy to assassinate President Maithripala Sirisena and Former Defense Secretary Gotabaya Rajapakshe, President Maithripala Sirisena has said today (14)


After receiving the report of ongoing investigations it will be handed over to Criminal Investigations Department  (CID) for further investigations the President has stressed.

Inspector General Of Police (IGP)Pujitha Jayasundara had ordered the Special Police Investigations Unit to conduct an investigations over the allegations levelled against the head of the Terrorism Investigations Division Nalaka De Silva by anti corruption force .

The Anti Corruption force had submitted a telephone conversation in this regard it has been reported.

Meanwhile Prime Minister Ranil Wikramasinghe too has ordered the IGP to submit an inquiry report over the incident.

A hot Climate will occur at Polonnaruwa ,KilinochchI and Mulathivu Districts and Eastern Province tomorrow (15)according to the Meteorologists.

People in these areas should be vigilant over  the extreme heat due to occur tomorrow the Department of Meteorology and Disaster Management Center have warned.

The temperatures In these areas during tomorrow may  reach higher according to the Heat index it has been revealed.

Experts have advised that the People at workplaces in those areas  should drink plenty of water and stay at covered areas as possible during tomorrow .People on roads should avoid stressful activities and stay at covered places and should be vigilant on sick persons and elderly as well as small children during the heat .

A Person Has Drowned While Bathing In Southern Seas

A 52 year old person has drowned
while bathing in sea area  near the GInthota estuary where the GIn River falling to the sea this morning  (14) after a strong sea currents drifted him away it has been reported.

The body of the deceased had been recovered by the Sri Lanka Navy divers during a search mission and brought it ashore .

The deceased was a resident at PitI wella,Bussa area and worked as a tailor at Pitimodarawella area, Ginthota it has been revealed.

Around 25 School Children Had Been Injured And Hospitalized Due To A Wasp Attack

Around 25 year five students attached

to SamanEliya Collage at Maskeliya area had been Injured and admitted to Maskeliya Provincial Hospital this noon (14) due to a Wasp attack .

The students had faced this incident while playing at Collage grounds during the interval it has been revealed.

Soon after the incident the School was closed temporarily as a precautionary meassure as per the instructions of Hatton Zone Education Director. 

Seven Persons Had Been Injured Due To A Road Accident At Badulla

Seven Persons including four females

had been injured and hospitalized after the Van they were travelling in toppled over at Bogahamaliththa area on Hali-Ela-Badulla main road last evening (13).

The injured who are residents of Badulla had been admitted to Badulla General Hospital for treatment.

The incident had occurred when the Injured travelling their home  after attending a function at Ella area it has been revealed.The Van had toppled over as a result of the Van driver fallen a sleep while at  the wheel according to Police.
