Around 35 Well Trained Elephants And Tuskers Kept Under Illegal Means By Various Persons Are Now Under Custody Of Wild Life Department -Health Minister

Around 35  Elephants and Tuskers kept
by the Religious places ,Businessmen and Politicians by illegal means  during the previous regime are now under custody of Wild Life Department according to Minister Of Health Dr.Rajitha Senaratne.

Those who had kept these trained Elephants and Tuskers in their possession had obtained licenses in proper way by providing various perks and  privileges  to officers he has stressed.Some Elephants  had been  stolen from Forests, the Minister has stated.

Due to this situation now there's a shortage of Elephants and Tuskers at Processions and President Maithripala Sirisena will solve this problem soon ,Health Minister has stated during the  depositing of the casket containing   Relics at 02 nd Binara Procession held at Sri Munasinghe Bodi Rajamaha Temple in Kalutara recently.

Prices Of All Bakery Products Including Bread Goes Up By Rs.5

Bakery owners again increased the
prices of Almost all the Bakery products including Bread,Buns and shortEats by Rs.5 due to the price increase of Palm Oil use to make Bakery products it has been  revealed .

Government has imposed  new taxes on Palm Oil and as a result the prices of All Bakery products had been increased according to All Ceylon Canteen owners Association.

Earlier this month prices of Bread and Kottu RotI had been increased by Rs
5 by the Bakery and Canteen owners as the  Prima Flour Company has increased   the price of 1 Kilo Gramme of Flour by Rs.5.

A Person Was Arrested With 105 Grammes Of Heroin

A person was arrested by the

Kankasanthurai Police yesterday (16)with around 105 Grammes of Heroin in his possession at Thelippalai ,Jaffna.

The suspect had been remanded until 27 th of September by the Mallakam Magistrate Court after being produced before the court over the charges related to narcotics .

The suspect is a resident of Thelippalai -Jaffna .

A Stock Of Explosives Had Been Recovered From A Well At Mannar

Officers attached to Special Police Task
Force Bomb defused Squad in Murunkan had been recovered a stock of Explosives left by LTTE Rebels during the last phase of war in North and East from an abandoned well at Murunkan ,Mannar yesterday  (15).

Around 19 hand Grenades, 07 Bombs and varieties of Ammunitions are among the Explosives that were recovered from the well it has been revealed.

These Explosives are due to be defused as per the court order issued by Mannar Magistrate Court.

Police believes the LTTE Rebels fled away from the area might have dropped these Explosives in to the well during the last phase of war .

Murunkan Police are conducting an investigations over the incident .

Two Persons Were Killed Due To A Three Wheeler-Bus Collision

Two persons were killed and one
person had been injured and hospitalized due to a Three Wheeler -Private Bus Collision at Malliappuwa area on Hatton -Nuwara-Eliya main road today (16).

The accident occurred when a Three Wheeler travelling from Hatton to Kotagala area collided with a Private Bus travelling from Thalawakale to Hatton .

Bodies Of Two Youth Had Been Recovered In A Cave

Bodies of two youth who went missing
after going for a hunting a Porcupines  at a cave in a reserve ,had been recovered by the Estate workers attached to Saint Leonard Estate in Ragala today(16).

The two deceased youth who went to the cave at a reserve attached to the Saint Leonard Estate in Ragala to hunt Porcupines had made a smoke to get the Porcupines out of the cave it has been revealed.

However the two youth somehow died due to an unidentified cause according to reports.

Police have arrested two persons with
two live Hand Grenades each in their possession  at Bastien Road ,Pettah and Pussalla, Mawatha gama areas respectively.

Accordingly a person arrested at Pettah with two Hand Grenades by the Police officers attached to organized Crimes prevention Division   Had been remanded until 28th of September after being produced before Hulftsdorf Magistrate Court today (16).

The person arrested by Mawathagama Police with two Hand Grenades is due to be produced before pilessa Magistrate Court.

Sri Lankan Airlines Flights To Parts Of China And Hong Kong Are Being Delayed Due To A Typhoon

Sri Lankan Airlines Flights flying to
some parts of China and Hong Kong are being delayed due to the super Typhoon, Typhoon Manghkut which arrived at China and Hong Kong according to reports.

A Sri Lankan flight UL-880 flying to Gwanshu, China  had been delayed for around 11 hours as the Gwanshu Airport was closed as a result of the Typhoon it has been announced. 

A Person Was Arrested With A Stock Of Illegal Cigarette Sticks

Police have today  (16)arrested a 23
year old person with around 420 Cigarette sticks illegally imported to Sri Lanka in his possession at Sathiragama Junction in Tangalle.

The suspect has planned to sell the illegal Cigarette sticks to shops by  Rs.40 per a stick it has been revealed.

The suspect is a resident of Palli Kudawa,In tangalle.

A Female Drug Smuggler Was Arrested With 75 Grammes Of Heroin



A female had been arrested by the Criminal Investigations Unit of the Kalutara District with 75 grammes of Heroin in her Procession at her newly constructed house at AluBomulla, Panadura yesterday  (15).

The suspected female drug smuggler has been identified by the Police as the mother of a drug smuggler "Kudu Sanka"."Kudu Sanka"had fled away from the area at the time of the raid it has been revealed.

The estimated value of the haul of Heroin taken in to custody in possession of the suspected female is nearly Rs.750,000 according to Police.

The suspect is currently being held at  Police custody  under detention orders and Police are investigating on to arrest her son "Kudu Sanka" it has been reported.

Four Females Were Killed Due To Motor Car-Train Collision

Four females were killed and four
others including three small children  and a male had been injured and hospitalized after the Motor Car they were travelling in colliding with a Jaffna-Matara bound Express Train at pendrikeidakulam area on Vavuniya -Omanthai Railway line this morning(16) while attempting to across the rail track through an unprotected Railway crossing.

The four injured had been admitted to Vavuniya  Hospital for treatment .

The incident had  occurred as the Motor Car was stucked on the rail track as a result  of an engine failure  it has been revealed.

After Collision the Motor Car was dragged away around 250 meters by the train and it veered off the Railway line afterwards.

The four deceased females were residents of Delft Island,Jaffna .
