The Hospital Staff of the Karapitiya teaching Hospital in Southern Province is decided to launch a one day strike in next Monday(07th) demanding the removal of Hospital Director due to her inefficiency in handling hospital work Health Trade Unions announced today.
According to the Government Medical Officers Association(GMOA) Doctors,Nurses,Minor Staff and whole staff of the Hospital numbering around 3000-4000 will participate this Strike Action..If the demand is not meet during the strike Health Staff is planning to expand their trade union action further according to the GMOA.

Main Opposition UNP To Boycott Independance Day Celebrations
nThe main opposition United National Party(UNP) has decided to boycott the 63rd National Independance Day Celebrations due to held in Kataragama in 04th February(Friday) opposing the imprisonment of former Army Commander Retired General Sarath Fonseka and the supression of the rights of people and the media according to the Secretary of UNP Tissa Attanayake.Addressing a media briefing held today the UNP Secretary has said there will be no celebrations when the war hero who led the victory against terrorism is in Prison and the rights of people and media supressed.
