A Person Was Arrested With Illegally Imported Japanese Jeep

Police officers attached to Anti
corruption Unit of Walana have yesterday (20)arrested a 38 year old person who had stolen a Toyota V-8 Jeep from Japan and illegally imported it to Sri Lanka at Wewelduwa in Kelaniya.

The Sphare parts of the Jeep had been illegally imported to Sri Lanka from Japan and they were assembled here by the suspect it has been revealed.

The Jeep was also taken in to custody by the police.

The market value of the Jeep is around Rs.40 million and it was not registered at the Motor Car Drpartment according to police.

The suspect who is a resident of Thambigasmulla in Kiribathgoda is due to be produced before the Mahara Magistrate court .

Navy Have Recovered A Stock Of Kerala Cannabis In Thalaimannar

Sri Lanka Navy have recovered five
gunny bags containing more than 150 Kilo Grammes of Kerala Cannabis drifted ashore at Uramalai Sea coast in Thalaimannar(Northern Province) last morning (20).

The Stock of Kerala Cannabis is due to be handed over to the Police Anti Narcotic Bureau for further investigations .

A Person Has Died After Drifting Away By Sea Waves

A 49 year old person has died after
drifting away by strong sea waves at Ariyampathi sea coastal area last Tuesday (19)evening.

The deceased who.was a resident of Sellanagar in Ariyampathi area had faced this incident when he had attempted to rescue his pet dog whilst he was being bathed by the owner.

A Motorcyclist Was Killed After Colliding With A Train

A 63 year old Motorcyclist had been
killed after the Motorcycle he was riding in colliding with a fuel transport Train travelling from Colombo to Galle at a Railway crossing near a Junction at Rathgama last Morning (20).

The critically injured Motorcyclist who was a resident of Palliyapitiya ,Rathgama had succumbed to his injuries before admission to Karapitiya Teaching Hospital.

Rathgama Police are conducting an investigations over the incident.

A Couple Was Killed And Six Others Injured Due To Motor car-Bus Collision


  • A couple was killed and six others

including two daughters of the couple had been injured and hospitalized after the Motor Car they were travelling in colliding with a Sri Lanka Transport Board (SLTB)Bus at Karandupana Junction on Colombo -Kandy main road today(20).

The injured ,three of them critically had been admitted to Kegalle Hospital for treatment .

The incident occurred when the Motorcar on the way home in Colombo afer visiting Dalada Maligawa in Kandy colliding with a SLTB Bus travelling from Colombo to Kandy .

A van arrived in from rare side of the Motor Car also  collided with the Motor car according  to sources .The deceased were 61 and 54 year old residents of Bemmulla,Gampaha .








A Person Was Arrested Whilst Transporting Heroin

Kosgama Police have arrested a 28 year
old person whilst transporting 104.80 Grammes of Heroin in a Motorcycle in Hingurala,kosgama yesterday (19).

The suspect who is a resident of Galle had earlier distributed Hetoin to Kaduwrla,Deraniyagala,Hanwella,Awissawella and Kosgama areas it has been revealed.

The estimated value of the haul of Heroin taken in to custody in possession of the suspect is around Rs.2 million .

The suspect is due to be produced before Awissawella Magistrate Court.

Special Two Day Dengue Control Programme To Be Implemented In 44 MOH Areas Belonging To Five Districts


A Special two day Dengue Control Programme scheduled to be implemented in 44 Dengue high risk MOH areas belonging to five Districts Tomorrow (21) and the day after (22) by the National Dengue Control Programme in collaboration with the Presidential Task Force on Dengue .

Accordingly this special Dengue Control Programme will be implemented in 44 MOH areas belonging to Colombo,Gampaha,Kalutara ,Puttalam and Kalmuani Districts .570  Teams comprising of Tri forces personal ,Police and Community Health Workers will be involved in Dengue Control activities in High risk places  including  Houses,Construction sites ,Work sites ,Institutes,Religious places ,Factories and Public places according to National Dengue Control Programme.

 This two day Dengue Control Programme will be implemented  as a result of the Dengue risk occurred due to the rainy weather prevailing in most areas these days the Programme has stated.
