A Stock Of War Equipment Recovered From A Land In Jaffna

A stock of decayed war equipment including firearms
believed to be belonged to LTTE had been recovered from a land in Pombaveli area in Jaffna today (26) by the Police.

Around 10 T-56 firearms and 06 Motar ammunitions were among the stock of war equipment recovered.

The stock of equipment due to be defused as per an order  of Jaffna Magistrate Court.


Airport Customs Had Arrested An Indian Female With Two Pieces Of Gold

Airport Customs officers had arrested an Indian
female who attempted to smuggle two pieces of Gold weighing around 114.28 grammes illegally to Chennai India last night (25)at Katunayake,Bandaranaike International Airport.

The female had attempted to smuggle the two pieces of Gold which concealed inside her bag it has been revealed.

Airport customs had taken steps to confiscated the two pieces of Gold taken into custody in possession of the female and released her on a fine of Rs.10,000.

The estimated value of the Gold pieces is more than Rs.600,000 it has been reported.

A Person Was Killed And Nine Others Injured Due To A Bus-Lorry Collision

One person was killed and nine others injured after a
Sri Lanka Transport Board (SLTB) Bus they were travelling in colliding with a parked Lorry at Warakapola area on Ambepussa-Kurunagala main road today (26).

Ten passangers of the Bus were admitted to the Warakapola Hospital for treatment where a critically injured 26 year old youth among them had succumbed to his injuries.

The accident had occurred when the SLTB Bus attempted to overtake a Private Bus it has been revealed.Due to the collision the Lorry which collided with the SLTB Bus collided with another Motor car.

Police had arrested the SLTB Bus driver regarding the accident.

Twenty Six Persons Arrested Over Attempting To Migrate To Canada Illegally

Police officers attached to Puttalam Division had
arrested 26 males over attempting to illegally migrate to Canada by seeking refugee status there ,while staying in a Public Hall in Thiladiya area at Puttalam early this morning (26).

The suspects have been identified as  Tamil nationals residing in Jaffna,Batticaloa and Trincomalee areas.

Police are currently investigating to find out whether there are females accompanying the group of males to migrate Illegally to Canada.


Dr.Anil Jasinghe Has Been Appointed As The New Director General Of Health Services

The Director of Colombo National Hospital Dr.Anil
Jasinghe has been appointed as the new Director General of Health Services(DGHS) who is the head of the Health Department of Ministry of Health ,Nutrition and Indigenous Medicine according to Health sources.

Dr.Jasinghe is due to assume duties as the New Director General Of Health Services on this Wednesday (29) after the current Director General of Health Services Dr.Jayasundara Bandara retires from his service on this Tuesday (28).

The post of Director General Of Health Services has been advertised recently and the suitable candidate for the post was selected through an interview.

The new DGHS Dr.Jasinghe had served as the Medical Superintendent of Badulle General Hospital,Director of Kalubowila Teaching Hospital and Director of Accident Service of the National Hospital prior to his appointment as the Director of Colombo National Hospital.

A Physical Education Director Was Injured Due To A Motor Car Accident In Southern Expressway

A person was injured and hospitalized after the motor
car he was travelling in colliding with a stone wall near the 91st Kilo Meter post in Southern Expressway according to the Police.

The injured who is the Director of Physical Education  in Moratuwa University K.K.R Rathnamudali has been admitted to the Kalubowila Teaching Hospital for treatment.

Around 25 Persons Have Been Hospitalized Due To Food Poisioning In Kithulgala

Around 25 persons have been hospitalized after falling
sick as a result of a food poisioning at a Wedding reception in Kithulgala area last evening (25).

The group of persons fallen sick including six females and a small child were admitted to the Kithulgala Hospital with symptoms including fever,vomitting and Stomachache and two of them were later transferred to Karawanella Base Hospital for treatment.

Some of those admitted left the hospital after receiving treatment and the rest is still receiving treatment at the hospital it has been reported.

The exact cause of the food poisioning not yet been revealed.
