Thalawakale-Pundaluoya Road Had Been Blocked This Morning (24)Due To A Fallen Soil Mound And Rocks-One Lane Has Been Opened For Traffic Again

Transport activities of Thalawakale -
Pundaluoya main road had been completely blocked since early this morning  (24)as a result of a huge Soil Mound and several rocks falling down to the road this morning from madakumbura area it has been reported.

The incident occurred due to the heavy showers prevailed in the area last night (23).However as the workers of Road Development Authority along with police officers attached to Pundaluoya Police have removed the fallen Soil Mound and rocks from the road, one lane of the road has been opened for traffic again since this noon it has been revealed.

Earlier motorists travelling from Thalawakale to Pundaluoya had been advised to  use Madakumbura as an alternative route by the Police.

Although a lane of the Thalawakale -Pundaluoya road is available for traffic, Police have advised the Motorists to be watchful. When travelling in the road due to Landslide risks .

CID Has Requested Chief Of Defense Staff Ravindra Wijegunaratna To Appear Before CID This Tuesday

Criminal Investigations Department 
(CID)has yesterday  (23)requested the Chief of Defense Staff Rear Admiral Ravindra Wijegunaratna to appear before CID on next Tuesday  (27 )at  10 a.m to question  and record a statement from him regarding giving protection  to Lieutinent Commander Chandana Prasad Hettiarachchi  allias "Navy Sampath " who was charged over Abduction  and dissapearence of 11 persons.

A letter had been sent in this regard to the Chief of Defense Staff Wijegunaratna to appear before Mass Robbery Investigations Unit of CID in Tuesday  .

CID has informed Colombo Fort Magistrate Lanka Jayaratne on 29 th of October that Chief of Defense Staff will be arrested and produced before court regarding the case .

Court has already ordered the Police twice to arrest him over the allegations levelled against him and he has even avoidEd    appear before court in September it has been revealed.

A Police Constable, His Wife And Son Had Been Killed Due To Three Wheeler-Cab Collision

A 48 year old Police Constable ,his wife
and son had been killed after the Three Wheeler they were travelling in colliding with a Cab at WelMilla area on Bandaragama-Kesbawa main road yesterday (23).

The Police Constable and his wife were killed on the spot due to the Accident  and their son had succumbed his injuries after being admitted to Panadura Base Hospital .

The incident occurred when the Police Constable along with his wife and son on the way home after receiving treatment for his wife from Maharagama Apeksha"(Cancer)Hospital it has been revealed .

The deceased Police Constable was a resident of KaranDeniya area and attached to a Police post in Southern Expressway .His deceased wife and son were  40 year and 15 year old residents of KaranDeniya area .

Due to the high speed of the cab caused this accident and the Cab driver was also hospitalized after the accident according to Police. 

A Section Of A Nawalapitiya Main Road Had Been Submerged Due To Heavy showers Last Evening (23)

Around 500 meter area of  main road in
Nawalapitiya  (Kandy District ) town has submerged last evening (23)and disrupted tramspott activities ,due to the heavy showers experienced in Western slope areas in Central hills yesterday .

Accordingly from Nawalapitiya Bus stand up to Sri Pada Pirivena in Gampola had been submerged with two feet of water it has been reported .Several shops in the road too had been submerged as a result.

Due to the blockage in canal system of Nawalapitiya Town caused floods during the rainy season people say .

Transport Activities Of Ella-Wellawaya Road Disrupted Due To Collapsing Of Soil Mounds

Transport activities of Ella -Wellawaya
main road had been disrupted since last night(22) due to the Collapsing of Soil Mounds to the road from several areas  as a result of heavy showers prevailed in the area it has been reported.

In one instance a lane of the road had blocked due to a Collapsing of a Soil mound in Karandagolla area authorities have said. 

Two Little Girls Had Been Killed In Mahiyanganaya Due To A Wild Elephant Attack

Two girls of the ages  9 and 11 year old
had been killed due to a Wild Elephant attack at Mapakadawewa area in Mahiyanganaya last night (22).

The deceased girls , 9 year old Fathima Rizna and 11 year old Anwer umma had faced this incident when they along with other family members had came out of the house soon after the Wild Elephant attacked their house.

The Elephant had chased after  the two girls and attacked them when they attempted to run to save their lives it has been revealed.

The Wild Elephant attacked and damaged the house of deceased girl as well according to Mahiyanganaya Police.

decided to withdraw from parliamentary activities until Speaker Karu Jayasuriya act according to Constitution,Parliamentary traditions and standing orders ,The leader of the House of Minority government Dinesh Gunawardana has said today (23)

Addressing a media briefing held at Parliamentary Complex after walking out from the chambers opposing the selection of Parliamentary select committee ,MP Gunawardana Has stressed minority government will decide whether to participate parliamentary proceedings in future after look at the agenda  of the day.

Meanwhile some reports say minority government is planning to boycott parliamentary proceedings  until 07th of December the day Supreme Court due to deliver a verdict on whether the dissolvement of Parliament by President Is legal or not .


Parliamentary Proceedings Held Seven And Half Hours Uninteruptedly Without A Break

Parliamentary proceedings which
commenced at 10.30 a.m today (23 )under the patronage of Speaker Karu Jayasuriya held around seven and half hours without intetval until 6 p.m this evening without the presence of minority government members .

Speakers seated in opposition bench spoke mainly on the current situation in the country and status of people as well as on the  Constitutional conspiracy in October .

As per proposed by Janatha Wimukthi Peramuna (JVP) leader and opposition Organizer Anura Kumara Dissanayake Parliamentary proceedings adjourned until 1 p.m next Tuesday (27).

Earlier in the day Party Leaders meeting convened under the patronage of Speaker Karu Jayasuriya at 9 a.m this morning prior to the Parliamentary proceedings ended without a conclusion. The meeting was held to finalize today's parliamentary agenda and the composition of Parliamentary select committee.

Security was tightened at Speaker's office and Parliament Complex during the meeting. Snuffer dogs have used to check inside Parliament before the proceedings .

Minority Government Again Failed To Show Its Majority - Composition Of Select Committee Proposal Has Passed Unanimously As 121 Voted In Favor

Minority government again failed to
show its majority in Parliament as parties in the opposition had passed the composition of Parliament select committee proposed by Speaker Karu Jayasuriya by majority of 121 votes,as 121 voted in favor of the composition whilst no one voted against it.

Just before the voting has commenced members of the minority government had left the house and few MP's have remained in government bench it has been reported .

Soon after the  House leader of United National Front government Lakshman Kiriella and opposition Organizer Anura Kumara Dassanayake have propposed   a vote by name to approve the composition of Parliament Select committee, As a result Minority government MP's walked out of  the house opposing the move.

However speaker has decided to take the vote through the electronic system and as a result 121 MP's seated in opposition bench have voted in favour of the composition .

Accordingly appointed  minority government MP's who nominated seven members for the Select committee got only five and the opposition including the United National Front Nominated around eleven numbers and got seven members .
