A 17 Year Old Teenager Had Been Killed Due To Motorcycle Collision

A 17 year old teennager had been killed
and two others had been injured and hospitalized after two high speed  Motorcycles they were riding in colliding with  each other at weerapokuna,Bingiriya area  last evening  (15).

The injured had been admitted to Chilaw Base Hospital for treatment .

The deceased was a resident of Weerapokuna area.

2496 Persons Had Been Arrested Regarding Dangerous Narcotics/Illicit Liqour And Various Crimes During An Islandwide Raid

Around 2646 persons had been arrested related to dangerous narcotics and Illicit liqour during
a special Island wide raid carried out from 6 a.m to 9 p.m yesterday (15).

During the raid carried out under the instructions of Inspector General Of Police (IGP0 Pujitha Jayasundara ,1790 arrests were made regarding the dangerous narcotics and illicit liqour and 623 persons had been arrested with firearms without licences it has been revealed.

According to the Police Media Spokesman's office around 101 arrests were made regarding various crimes .13,186 Police officers had been involved in these raids the office has stressed.

Three Injured And Hospitalized After Colliding With UPFA MP'S Cab

Three members of a same family including a Mother,Father and their one and half year old
child had been injured and hospitalized after the Motorcycle they were riding in colliding with a Cab carrying United Peoples Freedom Alliance(UPFA) MP Kader Masthan at Malkumbugollawa ,Madawachchiya on A-9 main Road this morning(16).

The injured had been admitted to Vavuniya Hospital for treatment ..The incident occurred when the Cab carrying the UPFA MP was  travelling  to Vavuniya from Colombo .It collided with the Motorcycle attempting to enter main road from a sub road it has been revealed.

A Person Was Arrested With A Stock Of Cannabis

Omanthai Police have arrested a persons who was transporting 09 Kilo Grammes of Cannabis
in a Bus at Omanthai area last night  (15).

Police officers had recovered the stock of Cannabis transported by the suspect in his luggage during a search operation carried out it has been revealed.

The estimated value of the stock of cannabis taken in to custody in possession of the suspect is around Rs.1.5 million it has been revealed.

The suspect along with the stock of cannabis taken in to custody in his possession are due to produce before Vavuniya Magistrate Court.

A Large Area In Sapugoda Mountain Reserve Had Been Destroyed Due To A Sudden Fire

Around 20 acres of land belonging to Sapugoda Mountain Reserve in Wellawaya Divisional
Secretariat had been destroyed due to a huge fire erupted in the reserve this noon (16).

The fire is currently spreading rapidly due to the strong winds and dry weather conditions prevailing in the area at present according to sources.Police along with villagers of the area and  Sri Lanka Army officers are attempting to douse the fire.

Authorities believes that a group of persons might have lit the fire ..Wellawaya Police are conducting an investigations over the incident.

Three Persons Injured Due To A Road Accident In Hatton

Three persons including a female had been injured and hospitalized after the Three Wheeler
they were travelling in veering off the road and toppled over to a nearby canal in Norwwod,Hatton this morning (16).

The injured had been admitted to Dikoya Base Hospital for treatment .

The injured who are residents of Welimada area have faced this incident whilst returning from Sripadha pilgrimage it has been revealed.The incident occurred as a result of the driver fallen a sleep whilst on a wheel according to Norwood Police.

A Chinese Female And Male Were Arrested With 218 Liters Of Illicit Liquor

Colpetty Police have arrested a 31 year old Chinese Female and a male  with 218 liters of illicit liquor in possession  at a house in Glen Harbor ,Galle Road,Colpetty 
 yesterday (15).

The suspected Chinese female is staying in Sri Lanka illegally without valid visa documents it has been revealed.

Police have taken into custody around 50 Cans containing illicit liqour known as "Cheena Kasippu) in possession of the suspects.

They  are  due to be produced before Colombo Fort Magistrate today (16).


Minor Earth Tremors Reported From Four Areas In Badulla

Minor Earth Tremors had been  experienced  in Passara ,Welimada,Hali-Ela and Kandeketiya areas in Badulla District this morning (16) between 8.15 a.m to 8.20 a.m according to According to Disaster Management Unit of Badulla District .

As no casualties had been reported due to the earth tremors ,People should have not panic 
over the situation the Disaster Management Unit has stressed.
