President Had Appointed A Six Member Advisory Board On National Security
President Maithripala Sirisena had appointed a six member National professional Advisory Board for National Security headed by Dr.Sarath Amunugama to strengthen the programme underway to ensure national security according to the Presidents Media Unit.The Board had its first meeting under the patronage of President today at Presidents Official Residence.
Meanwhile President had left afterwards to England for a private visit it has been revealed.
Navy Have Arrested Four Fishermen Along With A Stock Of Kerala Cannabis
Sri Lanka Navy have arrested four fishermen with more than 83 grammes of Kerala Cannabis in their possession along with their fishing boat during a raid carried out in southern sea area today (09).
The suspects along with their boat and the stock of Kerala cannabis taken in to custody in their possession had taken to ashore and handed over to the Galle harbor police for further investigations .
Ice Rain Had Fallen With Heavy Showers In Several Villages Of Polonnaruwa District
Several villages belonging to Welikanda area in Polonnaruwa District of the dry zone had received heavy showers with Ice Rain this evening (09?) ending the six month old drought prevailed in there.Sinhapura ,Magul Pokuna and several other villages in an around Welikanda area had recived heavy showers with Ice it has been revealed.
Due to the drought residents of these villages had faced a shortage of drinking water and problems related to farming .

Galle Magistrate Harshana Kakunawela had remanded Victor Samaraweera the chairman of Lanka Private Limited which maintained Avant-Guarde floating Armory, until 19th of July after producing before the court today (09).

Attorney General Dappula De Livera is
due to file an Appeal before Colombo High Court against the verdict given by Colombo Chief Magistrate Lanka Jayaratne to release the Former Defense Secretary HemasirI Fernando and Inspector General Of Police Pujith Jayasundara on bail today (09).
Attorney General due to be requested the High Court to revise the verdict given behalf of former Defense Secretary and IGP through the appeal.
The two suspects had been arrested over the Easter sunday attacks according to the instructions given by the committee appointed by President to inquire on Easter Sunday attacks.

Jayaratne has today (09)ordered to release former Defense Secretary HemasirI Fernando and Inspector General Of Police (IGP ) Pujith Jayasundara who is under compulsory leave arrested and remanded over Easter Sunday attacks, on two surety bails of Rs.500,000 each.
The former Defense Secretary and IGP Were arrested by Criminal Investigations Department (CID) over murder charges and later remanded after producing before the court .However as there's no evidence to prove charges against them Colombo Chief Magistrate Has ordered to release them on bail .
As the two suspects are being treated at Colombo National Hospital and Police Hospital in Narahenpita ,Chief Magistrate advised the Court registrar to visit the suspects and signed their bail applications.
The two suspects are being ordered to give a statement to the Criminal Investigations Department (CID)after getting well.

Polce Fired Tear Gas And Water Cannons To Disperse A Inter University Students Federation Protest In Colombo
Police have fired tear gas and water
cannons to disperse a group of University student protesters attached to Inter Universiry Students Federation who had attempted to march towards Prime Minsters official residence "Temple Trees"this evening (09)demanding to abolish Batticaloa Campus Private Limited.
The protesters who began the protest march from Jayawardanapura University in Nugegoda this noon had arrived in Colpetty through the Highlevel road amidst heavy showers it has been reported .
Protesters had stopped the March for around one hour at Wijerama Road due to the heavy showers and later arrived in Colpetty junction amidst rain .Then when the student protesters had attempted to march towards Temple Trees by breaking Police barricades Riot Police Fired tear gas and water cannons towards the protesters. A heated argument was erupted between a group of protesters and riot Police at that time as well.
However after holding a rally at the Colpetty junctions, protesters had left the junction .During the protest march a heavy traffic had prevailed in along Highlevel road upto the Colpetty junction according to reports .

Terrorism Investigations Division (TID) had today (09)arrested a 29 year year old person attached to Thowheed Jamaath Terrorist Organization who had received arms training with Chief bomber of the Easter Sunday attacks Mohommad Zahran , at his residence in Hendeniya , Peradeniya .
The suspect Mohommad Muskar Asif has received arms training at Aruppala ,Kandy with Zahran it has been revealed.
He was arrested according to the facts revealed during the investigations carried out by TID Officers regarding Thowheed Jammath Terrorist Organization? Police media Spokesman SP Ruwan Gunasekare.
TID is due to obtain a detention order to question the suspect further on his involvement with the terrorist Organization Police Media Spokesman has stressed.
