Sri Lanka To Pay US Dollars 170 Million For A Internatonal Air Craft Leasing Company For Cancelling Air Craft Orders-Finance Minister

Sri Lanka need to pay US Dollars 170 million for the World's largest Independant  Air Craft Leasing Company "Aercap Holdings NV" for cancelling the four A-350 Air Crafts ordered by the previous government the Finance Minister Ravi Karunanayake has informed the Parliament yesterday(04).

The national carrier Sri Lankan Air Lines do not require long distance Air Crafts like A -350's as the longest flight time of Sri Lankan Air Lines is around ten hours the Minister has stressed.

Although the present government had cancelled the orders of four A-350 Air Crafts  done by previous government another four A-350 Air Crafts are due to be delivered by 2020 Finance Minister has revealed.

Train Derailment Disrupted The Train Services In Kalani Valley Railway Line

Train Services in Kelani Valley Railway line had disrupted this morning due to a derailment of a Train at Maharagama.

Steps are currently  underway to restore the Train Services of the Railway line according to the Railway control room.

Former MP Basil Rajapakshe To Appear Before Court On 07th

Pugoda Magistrate Court has today (04) ordered the former Economic Development Minister Basil Rajapakshe to appear before the court on 07th of October to record a statement regarding an allegation leveled against him.

The former Minister Rajapakshe is due to give a statement to the Magistrate Court regarding the ownership of a house  and a sixteen acre land at Malwana in Magampita (Westen Province) area.

Navy Had Recovered The Wreckage Of Passenger Ferry "Valampuri" Which Destroyed By LTTE In 1993

Sri Lanka Navy Personal had yesterday (03)recovered the wreckage of the passenger ferry "Valsmpuri"which was destroyed by LTTE Suicide Boat in 1993 in the seas off Point Pedro by killing all passengers on  board.

The passenger ferry was destroyed by the LTTE Suicide Boat on 23rd of February 1993 on it"s way to Trincomalee and 29 Navy Personal were killed during the confrontation with LTTE Rebels.

The early attempts to search the ferry were not successful due to the rough seas and security conditions prevailed in the country at that time according to Navy.

Navy Personal had recovered the wreckage of "Valampuri"passenger ferry located at eight nautical miles North  off Point Pedro at the  depth of fifteen  meters it has been reported.

Prime Minister Ranil Wikramasinghe Had Arrived In New Delhi To Attend Global Economic Summit

Prime Minister Ranil Wikramasinghe and the Sri Lankan delegation who visited New Zealand for an official tour had today (04)arrived in Indian Capital New Delhi to attend the Global Economic Summit to be held there.

During his visit Prime Minister Wikramasinghe is due to meet several Indian leaders including Prime Minister Narendra Singh Modi and hold bi lateral talks with them.

Prime Minister Wikramasinghe and the Sri Lankan Delegation had been welcomed on their arrival at the Indira Gandhi International Air Port in New Delhi by the Indian High Commissioner in Sri Lanka Y.K. Sinha and Sri Lankan High Commissioner in India Chitrangani Wageeshwera.

Professor Ananda Samarasekera Who Is Charged Over Missing Body Parts Of Thajudeen Is On Leave

The former Chief Judicial Medical Officer in Colombo Professor Ananda Samarasekera who is charged over transportation of  body parts of the murdered former Sri Lankan Rugby Player Wasim Thajudeen to Private Medical Collage in Malabe where he works is on leave these days the Medical Collage has announced.

Professor Samarasekera is working as the Vice Chancellor of the Malabe Private Medical Collage and Professor Depal Weerasekera has been appointed as the Acting Vice Chancellor of the Private Medical Collage due to his absence  it has been reported.

Professor Samarasekera is being charged for transporting body parts of former Sri Lankan Rugby Player Thajudeen to Malabe Private Medical Collage after the post mortem ,while he was the Chief Medical Officer in Colombo.

Colombo Magistrate Court has yesterday (03) granted permission to the Criminal Investigations Department(CID)to investigate on the missing body parts of Thajudeen.

Electricity Tariffs Will Not Be Increased-Ministry Of Power And Energy

Although the cost of Generating Electricity is forecast ed to increase between October 2016 to March 2017 under special circumstances like severe dry weather condition the Ceylon Electricity Board has suggested a 5% tariff increase as a solution to the increase of Electricity cost.

The suspended flying routes of Mihin Lanka will be carried out by the National Carrier Sri Lankan Air Lines after 30th of October according to sources.

Sri Lankan Government has taken a decision to suspend the flights and services of Mihin Lanka Air Lines as part of it's long term strategy   to restructure the local aviation industry and strengthening the efficiency and services of national carrier Sri Lankan Air Lines the sources have stated.

During it's term the Mihin Lanka established by the previous government covered the flying roots including Dhaka in Bangaladesh,Jakartha and Medan in Indonesia,Buddhagaya,Varanasi,Madurai and Kolkata in India,Baharain and Sarjah in Middle East ,Sey Schelles and Lahore in Pakistan,

Value Added Tax Bill Was Presented To The Parliament

Image result for parliament sri lankaThe Value Added Tax(Amendment) Bill was presented to the Parliament by Leader of the House Lakshman Kiriella this evening.

The new Amendments made to this Bill had been approved by the Cabinet on 13th of September.

Accordingly the Value Added Tax(VAT) will be increased to 15% from 11% of the services including Tobacco,Air Line Ticket Prices,Telecom and Private Medical Services excluding dialysis,diagnostic tests and OPD Services it has been reported.

The Supreme Court has issued an interim order in July by preventing the government from implementing 4% VAT increase until the Cabinet and Parliament give permission for that.
