A Gazette On Banning The Utilizing Of "Glyphosate" For All Crops Except Tea And Rubber Submitted To The Government Printer

A Gazette Notification on banning "Glyphosate " for  utilizing on  all crops except Tea and Rubber had been  submitted to the Government Printer today(16) to print according to the Minister of Agriculture Mahinda Amaraweera .

Pesticide Registrar General has earlier issued a Controversial Gazette Notification on last Wednrsday(11) stating the removal of "Glyphosate" ban from all crops.

This Gazette Notification was criticized by maby in the Politicaĺ Circle including the Minister of Health and Cabinet Co-Spokesman Dr.Rajitha Senaratne.

Two Former Senior Higher Police Officers Arrested Regarding The Murder Of Former Sunday Leader Editor Were Released On Strict Bail Conditions

Mount Lavinia Magistrate Court has today (16) released the imprisoned former Crimes Division OIC  of the Mount Lavinia Police Tissa Sugathapala and Former Senior Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) Prasanna Nanayakkara  who were arrested and remanded over hiding the information related to the murder of former Sunday Leader Editor Lasantha Wikrama tunge,under strict bail conditions.

The two former Police officers were released on Rs.one million each surety bail and Rs.fifty thousand each cash bail when the case on the murder of former Sunday Leader editor had taken up for hearing today .

The two officers who had released on bail were arrested by the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) on 14 th of February this year and later remanded.

Navy And Police Have Launched A Joint Search Operation To Find A Missing Fisherman

Sri Lanka Navy and Police officers had launched a joint search operation to find a 45 year old fisherman who had fallen in to the sea while his Boat returning to ashore at modara -Moratuwa area yesterday(15).

The fisherman who is a resident of Liyangoda watte,Paragasthota area had fallen in to the sea after the Boat he was travelling in was about to be capsized as a result of the strong sea waves in mid sea area it has been revealed.

The missing fisherman along with three other fishermen had gone to the sea on last Saturday from Modara port.

Two Persons Arrested While Attempting To Smuggle 29 Gold Biscuits Out Of The Country

Airport Customs have arrested two persons who had attempted to smuggle 29 Gold Biscuits to Dubai this morning(16) at the Katunayake ,Bandaranaike International Airport.

The suspects who are 43 and 33 year old residents of Colombo and Mannar areas had pasted the stock of Gold Biscuits under a trolly which carried their luggage and attempted to snuggle them it has been revealed.

The Gold Biscuits taken in to custody in possession of the suspects weighing 2.9 Kilo Grammes and worth around Rs.10.88 million according to Customs.
