An Indian National Was Arrested In Possession Of Gold Jewelry Painted With Silver At Katunayake Airport

Airport Customs officers have arrested
a 38 year old Indian National who had attempted to smuggle few Gold Jewelry items weighing 601.83 Grammes painted with Silver illegally to Sri Lanka at Katunayake, Bandaranaike International Airport last evening (09).

The suspect who is a resident of Mumbai,India had arrived at Katunayake Airport From Dubai last evening .

Airport Customs Officers had recovered few Gold Jewelry items painted  with Silver hidden inside the luggage of the suspect .Customs officers believes the suspect might have attempted to mislead officials by carrying silver painted Gold Jewelry.

The Estimated value of the Stock of Jewelry recovered in possession of the suspect is around Rs.3.91 Million according to Customs.

Airport Customs Officers are currently  conducting an investigations over the incident.

Route Number 101 Private Bus Parked In Front Of A Colombo School Destroyed Due To A Fire

A  route number 101 Moratuwa to
Pettah Private Bus parked in front of the Prince of Wales Collage ,Moratuwa had suddenly caught fire and destroyed completely in the wee hours of last Morning according to Police.

However no casualties had been reported due to the incident  as no one was there inside the Bus at the time of the incident .

Moratuwa Headquarters Police are conducting an investigations to find out whether it was a natural fire or an act of sabotage .

A Key Sri Lankan Drug Smuggler Arrested In Thailand

One of the leading Drug Smugglers
wanted by Sri Lanka  W.A Saliya Perera who had received a Red Warrant to be arrested from International Police (INTDRPOL) was arrested at Bangkok,Thailand by the Bangkok Police on last Saturday (08).

The suspect who had fled to Thailand four years ago had involved in Drug Smuggling activities which can lead a  life in imprisonment sentence it has been revealed.

Sri Lankan authorities had earlier requested the International Police assistance to arrest Saliya Petera.He is due to be sent to Sri Lanka in due course.

Prime Minister Ranil Wikramasinghe To Leave Vietnam Today (10)

Wikramasinghe is due to leave for Vietnam today (10) to attend the ASEAN (Association Of  South East Asian Nations)Economic Forum scheduled to be held from 11-13 th of September at Hanoi,Vietnam.

ASEAN Heads of states ,Senior Cabinet Ministers of Thailland and Republic of Korea as well as  of Global Economic Forum will participate at the Forum. More than 800 leaders representing Business ,Civil society ,Government and Media will meet  heads of states  and Senior Cabinet Ministers attending the three day Economic Forum to discuss various issues relevant to the region.

Regional Leaders will discuss on   Economic Trends and Challanges  faced by the regional countries during the Forum.

Police Department To Investigate On Distributing Contaminated Milk Packettes At Joint Opposotion Rally

Police Department will investigate on
Distributing contaminated Milk Packettes among protesters who had participated the "Jana Balaya Kolombata" Rally organized by the Joint Oposition which  held in Colombo last Wednesday (05) according to Inspector General Of Police (IGP)Pujitha Jayasundara.

The investigation will be conducted as per a complaint received from a resident of Matara District to IGP 's office he has stated.

If it proves that someone purposely distributed Milk Packettes contained poison among protesters a stern action will be taken against a person or persons who were found responsible for it IGP has stressed.

Around 30 persons were admitted to Colombo National Hospital on last Wednesday during the protest march due to falling sick after consuming Milk Packettes distributed at Union Place in Colombo.

Joint Opposotion had charged a MP attached to the Government was responsible over the incident.

Three Persons Including A Heroin Smuggler Were Arrested With A Haul Of Heroin In Their Possession

Three Persons including a Heroin
smuggler had been arrested by the Police Officers attached to Organized Crimes Prevention Division with 87.450  Grammes of Heroin in their possession at Jayanthipura Junction,Thalangama yesterday (08).

The three suspects were arrested inside a Motor Car belonging to the Heroin smuggler it has been revealed.Police officers have also taken in to custody more than Rs.178,000 worth cash and five Mobile Phones in their possession.

They are due to be produced before Kaduwela Magistrate Court. 

A Female Was Killed And Another person Critically Injured Due To A Road Accident

A 43 year old female was killed and her
Three Wheeler Driver husband Had critically injured and hospitalized after the Three Wheeler they were travelling in crashed in to a wall at Rajagiriya this morning  (09).

The two critically injured were admitted to the Colombo National Hospital where the female had succumbed to her injuries after admission.

The deceased was a resident of Rajagiriya area according to Welikada Police.

The incident occurred due to  the Three Wheeler drivers inability to control the speed of the vehicle it has been revealed. 

Thousands Of Protesters Had Protested Against Disposing Colombo Garbage At Aruwakkalu

Thousands of Villagers arrived at  Sanitary Garbage Dump and Garbage Recycling Plant land at Aruwakkalu ,Puttalam this morning (09)have protested against disposing Colombo Garbage there for hours .

The protesters who are residents of nearby villages like Serukkuliya and Wanathawilluwa had marched towards the project land from Serukkuliya bay and attacked the project head office as a protest it has been reported.

Due to the opposition of the protesters the workers at the land had temporarily departed from there with equipment they have used for work it has been revealed.

Later Police have intervened and dispersed the protesters .

Ten Persons Were Injured After The Tusker Carried Relics Of A Procession Run A Mock At Galewela

Ten Persons including a Buddhist Monk had been injured and hospitalized due to a tense situation occurred as a result of run a mock by  Dalada Maligawa Tusker"  IndiRaja "after trampling a fire charcoal during the Annual Procession of Historical Bambawa Temple at Galewela held last night (08).


The incident occurred as the IndiRaja who carried the relics of the Procession had trampled a fire charcoal after attempting to attack mahaut it has been revealed .

The injured three of them Critically had been admitted to the Galewela Base Hospital and the three critically injured were transferred to the Dambulle District Hospital for further treatment .

People got injured as they ran away  as a  result of the tense situation occurred and colliding with each other according to reports.As the Tusker run a mock on the road several vehicles had severely damaged and the Procession was stopped due to the situation. 

A Large Amount Of Fuel Had Been Leaked To The Sea As A Result Of An Explosion of A Pipe Line Of A Vessel Supplying Fuel To Muthurajawela

Nearly 25 tonnes of fuel had been released to the sea due to a Fuel leak of a Pipe line attached to a Vessel   transporting fuel to the Petroleum Storage Terminal at Muthurajawela occurred as a result of an explosion in the pipe line last night (08)it has been revealed.

DIKowita to Pamunugama  sea coastal areas had been polluted as a result of this Fuel  leak and a black oil spill had been seen at Thaldiyawatte at Uswetakeyyawa sea coast area  ,Wattala since last night according to reports.Pamunugama and Uswetakeyyawa coastal areas had been polluted severely due to this situation .

Sri Lanka Navy Personal along with the workers attached to Coastal Conservation Department are currently engaging in removing the oil spill and it will take around three days to complete it according to the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation.

However there will be no fuel shortage in the island due to this situation the Petroleum Corporation has stated.

Imprisoned Galagodaatte Thero Again Transferred To Welikada Prisons Hospital From Jayawardanapura Hospital

Venerable Galagodaatte Gnanasara Thero who had been Transferred to Sri Jayawardanapura Teaching Hospital ,Kotte last Thursday  (06) to treat an urine infection was again transferred to Welikada Prisons Hospital this evening (09) after getting well  it has been reported.

Galagodaatte Thero who had undergone a Kidney Stone Removal surgery last Month had developed  an urine infection as a result of it Jayawardanapura Hospital Authorities have stated.

He is again due to be sent to Jayawardanapura Hospital on 25 th of this month for a check up it has been revealed.
