Former Defense Secretary Karunasena Hettiarachchi Said He Has Been Appointed As The Ambassador To Germany

The former Defense Secretary Karunasena
Hettiarachchi who was removed from his post few days ago by the government ,stated that President Maithripala Sirisena  has appointed him as the new Sri Lankan Ambassador to the Germany.

The former Defense Secretary Hettiarachchi is an Engineer by profession and served as the Defense Secretary for two years.

More Than 129,000 Persons In Puttalam District Affected Due To The Drought

More than 129,000 persons in Puttalam District have
been affected due to the drought according to the Puttalam District Secretariat .

All the small tanks and majority of wells in the District have  drird up due to the drought it has  been reported.

People have faced enormous dificuties when searching for a drinking water the authorities have stated.

Government To Launch Power Producing Projects As A Solution For Garbage Ptoblem

Government has planned to launch several projects
producing power through Garbage from next month as a solution for  the Garbage problem in Colombo District according to the Minister of Megapolis And Western Developme --nt Patali Champika Ranawake.

A permanant Garbage Dumping site is due to be contructed from this September in Aruwakkuaru , Puttalam the Minister has stated.

Addressing a media briefing held in Colombo today the Minister Ranawake has accused  that some people are trying to politicize the Garbage Problem.


Two Unidentified Men Had Shot And Injured A Person

Two unidentified persons arrived in a Motorcycle had
shot and injured a person near a court junction at Hambanthota this morning (08).

The injured person who is a resident  of Hambanthota has been transferred to the Intensive Care unit of the Karapitiya Teaching Hospital after been admitted to the Hambanthota  Hospital for treatment as he received serious injuries to one of his hands.


Hambanthota Police are conducting an investigations to arrest gunmen regarding the shooting incident.

More Than 3000 Tonnes Of Garbage Collected In Colombo For Weeks Removed Completely -Minister Champika Ranawake

More than  3000 tonnes of Garbage collected in
Colombo during last few weeks due to the delay of remove them,now completely removed and control building of Garbage mounds according to the Minister of Megapolis and Western Development Patali Champika Ranawake.

A complete solution will be provided for the Garbage problem in Colombo within next two months the Minister has stressed during a media briefing held in Colombo today (08).

The chief minister of Western Province Isura Devapriya has stated that it is the dutybof Police and the Army to arrest those persons who disposed Garbage inproperly.

Police Have Recovered A Parcel Contained Three Hand Grenades And Live Ammunition On A Ceiling Of A House

Police have recovered a parcel contains Three hand
grenades and a stock of live ammunitio --n on ceiling of a house in Roberthill w -atte at Mawathagama area.

Police have recovered the parcel as per an information given  to the 119 Police emergancy hotline by the residents of the house.

The hand grrnades and the stock of live ammunition have been handed over to the special police task force personal for further inspection after been produced before the pilassa magistrate court .

A Pedestrian Was Killed After Colliding With A Motorcycle

A pedestrian was killed after colliding with a
Motorcycle in Hettipola area on Hettipola-Nikapitiya road.

The critically injured 57 year old resident of Hettipola area had succumbed to his injuries after admission to the Hettpola Hospital.

Hettipola Police have arrested the Motorcyclist regarding the incident.

Three University Students Were Injured And Hospitalized After A Branch Of A Banyan Tree Collapsed On Them

Three students attached to the Jayawardanapura
University in Colombo got injured ,one critically and hospitalized after a branch of a Banyan Tree collapsed in them in a swimming area of Kandalama Tank (Wewa )this noon (08) it has been reported.

The injured who are of the ages 21 and 22 years old were admitted to the Dambulle Base hospital for treatment.The students are residents of Maharagama, Tangalle and Ampara areas and they have faced this incident while on a trip with another 21 university students.
