Excavation Work Of The Mass Grave At Mannar Temporarily Halted-Bone Parts Of Around 141 Bodies Recovered

The excavation work  of the Mass Grave
at the demolished old CWE (Sathosa) building site at Mannnar has been temporarily halted from 21 st of September due to weather condition it has been revealed.

Bone parts of around 141 unidentified bodies have been recovered from the grave and out of them Bone parts of 135 Bodies have been removed through excavations it has been revealed.

The recovered bone parts have been sealed and stored at Mannar Magistrate Court complex according to reports.

The excavations of Mass Grave are due to be resumed from 01st of October according to the authorities.

The Mass Grave has been recovered  after recovering of bone parts from the Soil removed from demolished Old CWE Building site at Mannar transported  to Emil Nagar on 26th of March.

Earlier there were plans to send the recovered bone parts to a Lab in Califirnia ,USA for a  carbon test .

Two Persons Have Been Arrested With 4.240 Grammes Of Heroin

Police have arrested two persons with
4.240 Grammes of Heroin in their possession at AmbagasWewa, Madirigiriya area last night(26).

The two suspects who are 36 and 32 year old residents of Madirigiriya area have been arrested as per the information received by Police.

The two suspects have been remanded until 04th of October by the Hingurakgoda District Court after  produced them before the court today (27).

A Group Of SAITM Students Had Requested Sri Lanka Medical.Council Registration



Around 83 SAITM (Malabe Private Medical Collage)  students had arrived at Sri Lanka Medical Council(SLMC) Premises recently and requested to give them registration of the SLMC as per the Supreme Court order issued recently.

The Court of Appeal has recently ordered the SLMC to provide registration to SAITM Medical Graduates and the order was confirmed by Supreme Court .

However the acting registrar of SLMC has informed the group of SATM medical graduates that a decision will be given to them in this regard after discussing the Supreme Court order regarding the SAITM Students.

Colombo Chief Magistrate Has Sentenced A Female Seven Year Rigorous Imprisonment Over keeping Heroin In Possession

Colombo Chief Magistrate Court has
today (27)sentenced a female seven year rigorous imprisonment over keeping 1.79 Grammes of Heroin in her possession .

The suspected female was arrested by the Colombo Crimes Division Police officers during a raid carried out at Paliyagoda area on 24 th of September 2013.

However after  the long court case against the suspected female ,she has avoid the court and later arrested and produced before the court  by the Police  as requested by the Court.

Although the lawyer of the suspected female has requested the Court to impose  her a soft punishment as her elder son is suffering from mental disorder, Colombo Chief Magistrate has sentenced her seven year rigorous imprisonment as she was arrested with 1.79 Grammes of Heroin in possession.

Two Persons Have Been Killed After Colliding With An Express Train

A male and a female have been killed
and two others were critically injured and hospitalized after colliding with Kandy -Colombo bound Express Train while attempting to cross the Railway crossing near the Ragama Flyover bridge this morning (27).

The injured have been admitted to the Intensive Care Unit of the Ragama Teaching Hospital for treatment .

The incident occurred when the two deceased persons a male and a female and two injured had attempted to cross the Railway crossing when the security Gate was closed it has been revealed .

The identity of the deceased has not yet been revealed.

Two Persons Have Been Injured Due To A Collision Of Five Vehicles

Two persons have been injured and
hospitalized due to a collision of Five vehicles including Two cars ,Two Three Wheelers and a Motor Cycle Infront of Dakshinapaya at Labuduwa on Mapalagama main road this noon (27).

The injured who were travelling in one of the Three Wheelers have been admitted to Karapitiya Teaching Hospital for treatment.

The incident occurred when a Maruti Car travelling towards Galle has colliding with a Three Wheeler arrived in from front and collided with another Three Wheeler, A car and a Motorcycle it has been revealed.

The incident occurred as the driver had fallen a sleep while at the wheel according to Akmeemana Police. 

A Businessman Was Arrested With Ten Gold Rings At The Airport

Airport Customs officers have today
(27)arrested a 44 year old Sri Lankan Businessman while attempting to  smuggle ten Gold Rings illegally  to the country at Katunayake ,Bandaranaike International Airport .

The suspect who had arrived in from Singapore is a resident of Kotikawatte area .

The estimated value of the Ten Gold rings taken in to custody in possession of the suspect is around Rs.1.8 million it has been revealed.

Three Youth Arrested Over Posing For And Taking Half Naked Photos At Pidurangala Rock Have Been Remanded

Three youth Arrested yesterday (26) by
the Sigiriya Police  over posing for and taking half naked photographs at Historical Pidurangala rock in Sigiriya had been remanded until 03 Rd of October by the Dambulla Magistrate Court today (27).

The three suspects including two 19 year olds residing in Galewela and one residing in Kurunagala have been produced  before the Dambulla District  court today .

Altogether five suspects have been arrested  over the incident and two were later released after giving evidence by saying they have been strictly opposed over taking half naked photographs at Pidurangala Rock.

The three remained suspects including two who had posed for the half naked photographs and one responsible for taking the photographs have been produced before the court today after recording their statements over the incident.

At the court Dambulla Magistrate Court has informed the Lawyer appeared behalf of the suspects  that the court has no power to grant bail for the suspects as the Case was filed against them under the Archeology Act when the lawyer had  requested bail for their clients .
