Former Crimes OIC Arrested Over The Murder Of Late Editor Lasantha Wikramathunge Was Remanded

Police who was arrested last Thursday (01)in connection with the murder of former Sunday Leader Editor Lasantha Wikramathunge was remanded until 16th of February by the Mount Lavinia Magistrate yesterday (02).

The suspected former OIC was remanded after been produced before the Mount Lavinia Magistrate yesterday.

The former Editor of "Sunday Leader"newspaper was shot and killed by gunmen while on the way to his office on 08th of January 2009 at Rathmalana.

Bellanwila Thero Who Was Injured Due To An Elephant Attack Had Transferred To A Private Hospital

Bellanwila Wimalarathne Thero who was hospitalized due to an Elephant attack in his Temple had been transferred to a Private Hospital last evening (02)from South Colombo (Kalubowila)Teaching Hospital.

Few ribs of the spinal chord of 75 year old  Thero got damaged after the Elephant "Miyankumara"attached to the Bellanwila Temple attacking him last morning while feeding him with Tamarind it has been revealed.

The critically injured Thero was rushed to the South Colombo Teaching Hospital with critical injuries.

A Person Was Arrested While Attempting To Bribe Beruwala Police OIC

Police have arrested a 35 year old person who had

attempted to bribe the Officer In Charge (OIC) of Beruwala Police to get release a Van taken in to custody over transporting a stolen cow  illegally.

The suspect was arrested when attempting to give Beruwala Police OIC Rs.25,000 as a bribe to release the Van taken in to custody by the Police.

He is due to be produced before the Kalutara Magistrate Court.

A Body Of A Wild Elephant Who Was Brurally Killed Was Recovered From Somawathiya

A body of a Wild Elephant who was brutally shot and
killed by an inhuman was recovered from the Somawathi Reserve in Polonnaruwa yesterday (02).

The Wild Elephant who was around 17 years old was shot at chest and head by a hunter according to the Wild Life officers attached to the Girithale Veterinary Medicine Unit.

Several Wild Elephants including Tuskers were brutally killed by an inhumans during last year as well.

A Person Was Arrested With A Stock Of Sea Shells While Transporting It Illegally

Officials attached to the Anti Corruption Unit of the
Horowpathana police had arrested a person while transporting a stock of Sea Shells illegally  on the pretext of Rice Flour in Horowpathana area yesterday (02).

The stock is weighing around 45 kilo grammes according to the Police.

The stock of Sea shells was transporting from Kinniya,Trincomalee to Kurunagala area at the time of the arrest.

Court Banned Three Former Police Higher Officers From.Going Abroad Regarding Lasantha Wikramathunge Murder Case

The Mount Lavinia Magistrate Court has today
(02)ordered to ban three Higher Police Officers including the former Inspector General Of Police Jayantha Wikramaratne who are due to be named as chief suspects of hiding evidences of Late Editor Lasantha Wikramathunge Murder Case , from travalling abroad.

Accordingly the Court has banned the former IGP Jayantha Wikramaratne .Former Senior Deputy Inspector General Of Police Prasanna Nanayakkara and Former Senior Superintendent of Police Hemantha Adikari from.going abroad.

The suspects are due to be named as the chief suspects of hiding evidences of the former Sunday Leader Editor Lasanaha Wikramathunge's murder case.


Colombo Fort Magistrate Court Has Made 10 Court Orders Against The Chief Suspects Of Central Bank Bond Scam

The Colombo Fort Magistrate Lanka Wijeratne has
named the former Central Bank Governor Arjun Mahendran ,The owner of the Perpetual Tresuries limited Arjun Aloysius and Kasun Palipana of Perpetual Tresuries  as chief suspects of the Central Bank Bond Scam and made 10 court orders against them.

The court orders includes banning Arjun Aloysius from going abroad,Order the CID to recommend Immigration and Emigration Department to inform the arrival of Arjun Mahendran to the country and ordered the Perpetual Tresuries to hand over the docuements related to the Central Bank Bond Scam to the CID without a delay.

President Has Appointed A Five Member Presidential Commission To Inquire On Fraud And Irregularities Of Two State Owned Airlines And Airline Catering Service

President Maithripala Sirisena has today (02)
appointed a  five member Special Presidential Committee to inquire on the fraud and irregularities occurred in Sri Lankan Airlines,Sri Lankan Catering Service and Mihin Lanka Airlines.

President has also signed the Gazette Notification regarding the appointment of the Commission today it has been revealed.

The committee comprising of Retired Supreme Court Judge Anil Gunaratne,Retired High Court Judge Piyasena Ranasinghe,Retired Court of Appeal Judge Gamini Rohan Amarasekare,Retired Deputy Auditor General Don Anthony Harald and the Director General of Sri Lanka Accounts and Audit Standard Board Wasantha Jayaseeli Kapugama will inquire on the fraud abd irregularities occurred in above institutions between  01st of January 2006 to 31st of January 2018
it has been revealed.

A 25 Year Old Youth Was Killed After Colliding With A Train

A 25 year old youth was killed after colliding with a Train traveling from Maradana to Kalutara at Mount Lavinia.

The deceased was identified as a resident of Anuradhapura District and it is not clear whether he was committed suicide or collided with the Train by accident it has been announced.The body of the deceased is currently at Kalubowila Teaching Hospital for a Post Mortum .

Mount Lavinia Police are conducting an investigations over the incident.

Revised Petition Filed By Former Defnse Secretray Gotabaya Rajapakshe Was Dismissed By Colombo High Court

Image result for high court colomboThe revised petition filed by the Former Defense Secretary Gotabaya Rajapakshe by requesting to acquit him from all the charges of Avant Garde Floating  Armory Case was dismissed by the Colombo High Court Judge Sampath Wijeratne today(02).

The Bribery Commission had filed a case against eight persons including  Former Defense Secretary Gotabaya Rajapakshe by accusing  them of incurring a loss Rs.114 Million to the Country by permitting the Avant Garde Company to maintain a floating armory in Sri Lankan seas.

Through the revised petition filed by the Former Defense Secretary ,he had stated that the Bribery Commission had filed a case against him and seven others over the Floating Armory case without obtaining a written approval and requested the Court to rule the act of  Commission as unlawful.

Bellanwila Thero Was Hospitalized Due To An Elephant Attack

The Chief Incumbent of the Bellanwila Rajamahaviharasthanaya(Temple) Professor Venerable Bellanwila Wimalaratne Thero(75) was critically injured and hospitalized this morning(02) after the Tusker "Miyankumara" attached  to the Temple attacked him while the Thero feeding him with meals.

The Thero was pushed aside by the Elephant and devotees of the Temple had hospitalized him after the attack.

The Thero was admitted to the South Colombo(Kalubowila) Teaching Hospital for treatment in critical condition and he is now receiving treatment at the Hospital ICU.
