Former President Mahinda Rajapakshe Cannot Contest For A Third term

Former President Mahinda Rajapakshe cannot contest for presidency for a third term according to the Sri Lankan Constitution  according to the Minister Of Higher Education Wijedasa Rajapakkkshe .

It has been clearly stated in the 19  th Constitutionl Amendment 
 he  has stated.

As the Joint opposition MP's making statements that they will  seek the opinion of the Supreme Court on whether the Former President Rajapakshe can contest for a third term of Presidency , Minister has said only the current President can seek opinion of the Supreme Court in this regard.

Four Persons Have Attacked And Damaged A Hotel In Anamaduwa

Four Persons  with poles and
swords have  attacked and damaged hotel at Andigama in Puttalam last night (18).

The armed persons had entered the hotel by breaking the doors of the hotel.and had done extensive damage to the hotel.and stolen Rs.150,000 in cash according to Police.

Police believes a drug smuggler in the area involved in the attack.Anamafuwa Police are investigating to arrest the suspects who had fled away from the area to arrest over the incident.

If Sri Lankans going abroad for seeking labor jobs not willing to to fill the vacancies of laborers in Sri Lanka Government will recruit foreign workers to fill those vacancies according to Minister Of Finance and Media Mangala Samaraweera.

While addressing a function held in Matara ,Minister Samaraweera has stressed that there are so many vacancies for laborers in the country and private sector too have so many employment opportunities .

People In Mannar Refraining From Eating Fish Due To Indian Waste?



As the Indian waste including Clinical waste, Empty bottles, Plastic items  and dead bodies of turtles flown ashore at Northern Sea coasts, Residents of Mannar are refraining  from eating local fish these days  it has been reported.

A strong smell is being emanated from the Indian waste and the fishermen in Mannar have informed on this to the Deputy Indian High Commissioner's Office in Jaffna it has been revealed.

Indian waste flown ashore at Mannar sea coast four years back also and that time Deputy Indian High Comm issioner's office had removed the waste through a group of employees after being informed on the waste.

Police have advised the Motorists to be
vigilant when driving along the  Hatton-Nuwara-Eliya main road as the Collapsing of Soil Mounds continues.

The motorists are also being advised to drive their vehicles slowly due to the risk of Collapsing  Soil Mounds.

The traffic on the Hatton-Nuwara-Eliya main road is being restricted to one lane due to the situation it has been reported. 

A NEW Threat: Indian Clinical Waste Flown Ashore At Sri Lanka's Northern Sea Coastal Areas

A large stocks of Indian Clinical waste drifted and flown ashore at Punarin,Mannar and Thalaimannar se coasts at present according to Ocean Enviornmental Protection Authority .

The stocks of Indian Clinical waste struck in Sri Lankan sea coasts contains names and addresses of Indian Companies it has been revealed.

Earlier stocks of Indian waste flown ashore in several areas of Puttalam sea coast as well.

However there are no reports on whether the authorities have informed on this to Indian Authorities. Without doing so the local authorities are planning to remove the stocks of Indian waste in northern sea coasts tomorrow (19).

Navy Had Recovered 39 Parcels Of Kerala Cannabis While Floating In Northern Sea



A stock of Kerala Cannabis weighing 83.500 Kilo Grammes wrapped in 39 parcels had been recovered by the Navy officers attached to the Kankasanthurai Naval Base while floating in the seas of Northern Kankasanthurai yesterday (18).

The stock of Kerala Cannabis believes to be thrown in to the sea by someone in view of  drag them in to ashore was handed over to the Kankasanthurai Police for further investigations .

Gazette Notification On Price Reduction Of 25 Essential Drugs And Equipment To Be Issued Within Two Weeks-Health Ministry

The Gazette Notification regarding the
price reduction of 25 Essential Drugs and Equipment including 10 Essential Cancer Drugs due to be issued within next two weeks according to the Ministry Of Health ,Nutrition and Indigenous Medicine.

Health Minister Dr. Rajitha Senaratne had informed on this to the members of  the Non Communicable Diseases Council during a meeting held at the Ministry.

"The prices of Cancer Drugs are very expensive and it is very difficult for the patients to purchase these drugs due to economic difficulties.95 percent of the Cancer Drugs are being purchased by the government while the Private sector is purchasing only 5 percent.The price of a vial of "TABSUMAB" cancer drug was Rs.280,000 when we came to power.However now a vial.of the Drug has been reduced to Rs.144,000" the Minister has stressed.
