A 23 Year Old Person Has Drowned in Kelani River

A 23 year old youth who was on pilgrimage to "Sripadha has drowned and disappeared  whilst bathing in Kelani River at Kalukohuthanna area in kithulgala last noon (09).

The missing who is a resident of Piliiyandala area has drowned whilst bathing with other pilgrims .

Navy divers ,Police and villagers have launched a joint search mission to find out the missing according to reports .

A Person Was Killed Due To A Wild Elephant Attack

A 54 year old person was killed due to a Wild Elephant attack at Uva-Kudaoya in Wwellawaya
area yesterday (09). 

The deceased had faced this incident whilst picking Wood apple at a forest area last evening it has been revealed.As  he had not returned home until this morning villagers had launched a search mission to find him and later recovered his body inside the forest according to sources.

Police Have Arrested Two Close Aides Of Makandure Madush

Police have today (10) arrested two close aides of Most wanted Sri Lankan Drug Kingpin
Makandure Madush who had been arrested in Dubai along with 31 others during raids carried out  at Thalgaswatte ,Thelijjawila,Akuressa area and at Dematagoda -Mattakkuliya.

 Accordingly a 23 year old close aide of Madush ,Asela Viranga alias "Gesa" had been arrested by Police along with a T-56 Firearm and 20 live bullets in possession whilst travelling to Makandure Madush 's father's house to hide those it has been revealed.The suspect has known as play a key role during  the funeral of  Madush's father .

The suspect also had several charges against him including assassinations 

In another incident Special Police Task Fore Personal have arrested a powerful aide of Madush,Andarewatte Chamara with a haul of Heroin in possession at Mattakkuliya area this morning  .The suspect had several charges against him including Assassination,Drug Smuggling and taking  ransoms .

A Person Was Killed And Another Injured Due To A Gun Shooting At Thanamalwila

A 42 year old person was killed and another person had been injured and hospitalized after
four persons arriving  in from two Motorcycles shot at them at Thanamalwila Town this noon (10).

The 22 year old injured person who is a resident of Thanmalwila area had been admitted to Thanamalwila Hospital for treatment and later transferred to Hambanthota Base Hospital for further treatment .His condition is not serious according to sources.

The deceased who was a resident of Gaminipura ,Thanamalwila area  was accused over a murder case occurred four months ago it has been revealed.

A Female Was Arrested With 2.14 Grammes Of Heroin In Possession

Police Officers attached to Anti Dangerous Narcotic Bureau in Puttalam Division have arrested
a 32 year old female with 2.14 Grammes of Heroin in her possession at Mullipuram ,Puttalam yesterday (09).

The suspected female who is a resident of Puttalam has been identified as selling Heroin brought from outstation areas after packet them .

The suspect had been handed over to the Puttalam Police to produce her before the court it has been revealed.Puttalam Police are conducting an investigation over the icnident.


Five Businessmen Had Been Arrested With 286 Illegal Cigarette Cartons At Katunayake Airport

Airport Customs Officers have arrested five Sri Lankan Businessmen who had attempted to
smuggle 286 Cigarette Cartons containing 57,200 foreign made Cigarette sticks illegally to the country at Kaytunayake,Bandaranaike International Airport in wee hours of this morning (10).

The five suspects who are of the ages 20 to 35 years and residing in Colombo and Meerigama areas had arrived in from Sarjah City at United Arab Emirates and Dubai . The stock of Cigarette cartons had hidden inside their luggage it has been revealed.

The estimated value of the stock of Cigarette Sticks taken in to custody in possession of the suspects is around Rs.3.14 million according to reports.

Airport customs are conducting an investigation over the incident.

Maharagama "Apeksha" Hospital To Perform "Allogeneic " Bone Marrow Transplants (Performing By Using Donor Blood Cells) From This Year

Maharagama "APEKSHA " Hospital is planning  to perform "Allogeneic "Bone marrow Transplant ( Bone Marrow Transplant performs by using  healthy blood-forming cells donated by someone else.) from this year according to the senior Oncologist Dr.Prasad Abeysinghe .

The Saint Vincent Hospital at Sydney ,Australia has provide the facilities to "Apeksha "Hospital in this regard by training 04 Consultants ,05 Doctors,05 Nurses and 02 MLT's on "Allogeneic" Bone Marrow Transplants Dr.Abeysinghe has stressed.

During a special meeting held at the Ministry of Health regarding performing "Allogeneic" Transplants in "Apeksha " Hospital recently under the patronage of Health Minister Dr.Rajitah Senaratne ,Doctors have requested the Health Authorities  to increase the number of rooms allocated for residing those who are due to undergo Bone Marrow Transplants from 02 rooms to 08 rooms .

"Apekhsa "Hospital is currently performing "Autologous" Bone Marrow Transplants(Transplanting  patient's own  blood-forming  cells collected, frozen and stored) according to reports.

A Group Of Lawyers Left For Dubai To Appear Behalf Of Drug Offenders

Lankan Law firm had left for Dubai to appear behalf of the Drug kingpin Makandure Madush and  his aides numbering 31 during a court hearing against them at Dubai it had been revealed.

Among those Lawyers who had left are some famous names  according to reports .However there's a doubt over whether these lawyers will be able to represent behalf of drug offenders or not  as the law in Dubai is different then the law in Sri Lanka

Meanwhile although it has been reported earlier that the arrested suspects are due to be produced before Dubai Court today  (10) Police have recorded the statements from the suspects including Madush only today regarding their involvement in using narcotics at a party held in Dubai Hotel .
Around 3.20 Kilo Grammes of narcotics imcluding Cocaine ,Heroin and Cannabis had been taken in to custody in possession of the suspects arrested  last Monday  (04)by the Dubai Police during a birthday party hosted by Sri Lanka's most wanted drug kingpin Madush behalf of a child of his mistress at a six star Hotel.  

A Person Has Died Due To Inhaling A Toxic Smoke

A 60 year old person has died and his
wife and a maid had been hospitalized after inhaling a toxic smoke  at a lodge in Idalgashinna area ,Haputhale this morning  (10) it has been reported.

The deceased who was a lodge owner had faced this incident whlist  roasting  meat in a barbecue Oven for a group of tourists according to reports .

The two females had been admitted to Diyathalawa Base Hospital with breathing problems it has been revealed .

Police have suspected the smoke released from a barbecue Oven inside a room of the lodge might have caused the incident.
