Around 200 Square Foot Area In Iranian Embassy Building Had Been Destroyed Due To A Fire
Around 200 square foot area in the upper floor of the
two storied Iranian Embassy building in Bauddhaloka Mawatha,Colombo-07 had destroyed due to a sudden fire erupted in the building today (12).
The fire brigade attached to the Colombo Municipal Council had doused the fire.
An electric leek of an airconditioner of the Embassy building was caused the fire it has been revealed.No casualties have been reported due to the incident.

A Wild Elephant Was Killed Due To An Electrocution
A wild elephant around 15 years old was killed due to
an electrocution in a chena at 10 Ela area in Uhana,Ampara on last saturday (10).
The wild life officers attached to Ampara Wild Life office had arrived in the scene today (12)and inspected the body of the deceased elephant.
No arrests were made regarding the incident up to now it has been revealed.

Three Were Injured After A Three Wheeler Veering Off The Road
Three persons have been injured and hospitalized
after the Three wheeler they were travelling in veering off the road and toppled over at unapanduruyaya area on Dambulla-Mahiyanganaya main road today (12).
The injured one critically were admitted to the Dambulla Hospital for treatment and the critically injured female was later transferred to the Kandy Teaching Hospital for further treatment.The Three Wheeler was driven by a female driver it has been revealed.
The injured met with the accident whilst on the way to appear in a court case in Dambulla Magistrate Court.

Requests To Remove Prime Minister Ranil Wikramasinghe From The Post Within The SLFP And UNP Parties
After the defeat suffered in local government elections
held last Saturday (10) a group of Ministers attached to Sri Lanka Freedom Party(SLFP) had requested the President Maithripala Sirisena and a group of governing United National Party (UNP)had requested the United National Party leaders to remove UNP Leader and Prime Minister Ranil Wikramasinghe from Premier post and Party leadership post respectively if to continue the National Government forward and to win future elections it has been revealed.
Accordingly a group of SLFP Ministers who met the President Sirisena yesterday (11)to discuss on the election results urged tbe President that Prime Minister should be removed from the post as his Bond Scam charges and economic programme had caused the election defeat.The Ministers have requested the President to appoint another UNP leader to the Prime Minister post of the Natuonal Government.
Meanwhile requests are pouring in within the governing UNP to remove Prime Minister Ranil Wikramasinghe from the Party leader post and appoint either MP Sajith Premadasa or Speaker Karu Jayasuriya for the post.If to win future elections a new leader should be appointed to the UNP a group of UNP members urged.

Colombo Fort Magistrate Has Granted Permission To The CID To Obtain Statements From Two Central Bank Bond Scam Suspects In Prison
The Colombo Fort Magistrate Lanka Jayaratne has today(12) granted permission to the Criminal Investigations Department(CID) officers to get further statements from the imprisoned Central Bank Bond Scam suspects the Director of Perpetual Treasuries Limited Arjun Aloysius and the Chief Executive Officer of the Limited Kasun Palisena on Bond Scam issue on 13th,14th and 15th of February.
The Magistrate has also issued a written court order to the Superintendent of the Magazine Prison requesting him to allow the CID officers to obtain statements from the two suspects on above dates.Colombo Fort Magistrate has issued the court order in this regard as per the request made by CID which conducting the investigations on Central Bank Bond Scam.

Seven Classes Of A School In Nikaweratiya Were Closed Due To The Wasp Nests
Due to the Wasp Nests built in a three storied building of a school in Nikaweratiya area ,The School Principal had today(12) closed seven classes of the school and sent all students of the classes back home it has been reported.
The school which was closed down last few days due to the local government elections reopened today and as the Wasp nests in the building becomes a threat to the students the Principal has sent student back home .The school authorities are due to remove the Wasp Nests and resumed classes on Wednesday(14).

Former DIG Vaas Gunawardane Was Sentenced To Five Year Rigorous Impriosnment
The former Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Vaas Gunawardane who in in prison over the murder of a billionaire Businessman Mohommad Siyam ,had been sentenced to a five year rigorous imprisonment over making death threats to the current director of Criminal Investigations Department(CID) Shani Abeysekare in 2013 by the Colombo High Court Judge Gihan Kulathunge today(12).
As per a complaint made by the CID Director Shani Abeysekare the Attorney General's Department had filed a court case against the former DIG Gunawardane in Colombo High Court on six charges including making death threats.
The former DIG was made death threats to the present Director Of CID Abeysekare while attempting to arrest him it has been revealed.The suspected former DIG was found guilty over the charges .

Former President Has Requested The Government To Dissolve The Parliament And Hold Fresh Elections
Addressing the first press briefing of the Sri Lanka Podu Jana Peramuna(Sri Lanka Peoples Front) in Colombo today(12) after winning the Local Government Elections held last Saturday(10) the Party leader and former President Mahinda Rajapakshe had requested the government to dissolve the Parliament immediately and hold fresh Parliamentary Elections in view of establishing a strong Government .
"In the end this local government election has become a National Election and a Referendum which goes beyond the electing of a member to a Village Council "he has stressed.Due to the instability in the country at present due to the Podu Jana Permanuna's election victory government should dissolve the Parliament the former President has stated.
Podu Jana Peramuna achieved this victory due to the Tax burden ,Relief aid cuts and revenge of the government he said.
