Two Day Debate On No Confidence Motion Against Speaker Began

The two day Parliamentary debate on the no Confidence Motion submitted to the Parliament by the main opposition against the Speaker Mahinda yapa Abeywardena had commenced yesterday(19).

Motion 
against the Speaker was submitted to the Parliament on 05th of March with the signatures of 44 opposition MP's including the signature of main opposition  leader Sajith Premadasa   .

The motion alleges  that the speaker disregarded the recommendations  made by the Supreme Court regarding various sections of the  online safety bill and speaker had unconstitutionally used his decisive vote to confirm the appointment of IGP Deshabandu Thennakoon despite a split decision within the Constitutional Council.

Government To Import 42 Million Eggs For The Festive Season

 The Government has decided to import a stock of 42 million eggs for the forthcoming festive season  the Government Information Department has announced.


The Cabinet  has earlier approved a proposal to import sufficient stocks of   Eggs  to stabalize the market until 30th of April.Authorities have already imported 18 million eggs from India it has been revealed.The price of Eggs in the local market is on the increase due to the  various problems faced by the local  poultry farmers.


Five More Opposition MP's Resigned From COPE

 Five more Parliamentarians were resigned from the Parliament's Committee on Public Entetprises (COPE)  yesterday (19) following the  resignation of former Finance Minister and Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB)MP Eran Wikramaratne.

Accordingly


members of the COPE  Dayasiri Jayasekare,Charitha Herath ,Shannaiyan Rasamanikam,Hesha Withanage and S.M Marikkar were resigned from the COPE yesterday(19).The opposition members blames  the integrity of the COPE established on 07th of March  under the Chairmanship of Ruling Sri Lanka Progressive Party(SLPP) MP Rohitha Abeygunawardane who himself accused misppropriation of public funds under the previous government

Twenty Nine Students At Kotalawala Defense Academy Hospitalized

 Twenty Nine students attached to the Kotalawala Defense Academy at  Nugegalayaya in  ,Sevenagala Police division had been hospitalized due to a food poisioning  according to the Police.



There were 26 male students and 03 female students among those,admitted to the Suriyawewa Provincial Hospital for treatment it has been reported.The condition of the students is stable according to reports.
