A Group Of Sri Lankan Navy Divers Is Currently Undergoing A Diving Training At Guam
A group of 20 Sri Lankan Navy Divers are currently undergoing a diving training with US Navy Divers in Guam to gain skills and knowledge needed to remove unexploded underwater weapons left by the LTTE in lagoons and tanks in the North and East.
The ten day training programme which commenced on 07th of April with the US Navy Divers attached to the explosive ordinance disposal mobile unit covers a range of theoretical and practical applications related to diving operations it has been reported.

A Rubber Products Shop Was Damaged Due To A Fire
Due to a sudden fire broke out in a Rubber Products Sales Shop at Weligama (In Southern Province) today(16)the shop was severely damaged according to the police.
The Fire Brigade of Matara ,Police and residents in the area have managed to douse the fire before spreading it further.
The cause for the fire has not yet being revealed and the cost of the damage to the building not yet estimated the Police have stated.

A Female Was Killed And Her Husband Critically Injured Due To A Lorry Accident
A female was killed and her husband has critically injured and hospitalized due to the lorry they were travelling in veered off the road and crashed into a tree at Kaththapahuwa Area on Anuradhapura-Mahawa Road today(16).
The 39 year old deceased female was succumbed to her injuries after getting admitted to Kurunagala Teaching Hospital and her husband the lorry driver is currently receiving treatment at the same hospital it has been reported.
The accident has occurred due to the driver fallen sleep at the wheel the Police have stated.

A Person With 1813 Bottles Of Illicit Liquor In His Possession Has Been Arrested In Panadura
The Police have today(16) arrested a person near Pamunugama Bridge in Panadura South(In Colombo) with 1813 Bottles of locally made illicit liquor "Goda" and a stock of equipment use to manufacture illicit liquor in his possession .
The 46 year old suspect from the Pamunugama Area is due to be produced before the Pandaura Magistrate Court.

A Resident In Matara Drowned In Nilvala River After Jumping To It
A resident of Mandakumbura in Matara District (In Southern Province) had drowned in the Nilvala River after jumping to it according to the Police.
The 67 year old drowned person has jumped to the Nilvala River from Hungamagoda Area due to a domestic conflict it has been reported.

Residents In Few Areas at Anuradhapura District Are Facing Difficulties Due To Wild Elephant Attacks
Residents in Samagipura and Mahabulankulama areas in Anuradhapura District (In North Central Province) are facing difficulties at present due to the attacks by around 15 Wild Elephants it has been reported.
Due to the attacks by Wild Elephants early this morning a house in one of the areas had been severely damaged according to the Police.
Although there's a Electric Fence in the area the wild elephants are entering villages by breaking the fence the residents have stated.

Police Have Arrested A Person Who Is Alleged To Have Misappropriated A Sum Of Rs.1.6 Million
The Police have yesterday(15) arrested a person who is alleged to have misappropriated a sum of Rs.1.6 million(1,658,384) at Medayaya in Mahiyanganaya(In Uva Province) Area.
The suspect was in hiding at Mapakadawewa in Medayaya area when the arrest was made and is due to handover to the Paliyagoda Special Crimes Investigations Unit for further investigations on the large scale financial fraud he had committed.

Police Have Found The Six Firearms Stolen From Laggala Police Station
The six firearms including a T-56 Assault Rifle and five revolvers stolen from the Laggala(In Central Province) Police Station on last Thursday(14) have been found this morning hidden near a water tank of a temple in Laggala according to the Police.
According to a information received by the Laggala Police Station Officers this morning they have found the stock of firearms stolen from the police station ,hidden near a water tank belonging to the Sandagala Temple in Wellewela it has been reported.
The police believed the individual who had stolen these firearms from Laggala Police station may have left them behind the temple premises.
Three Police Officers who were in duty at the Laggala Police Station during the firearm robbery had temporarily interdicted yesterday by the police department.
