Acceptence Of Nominations For Forthcoming LG Election Commenced

Acceptence of nominations for the forthcoming Local Government (LG)Elections had commenced from 8.30 a.m today (18) and will continue until 12 noon on 21st of January according to the National Elections Commission

According to the commission acceptence of Deposits from the Political parties contesting the Local government election which began on 04th of January will be concluded on 12 ,noon ,21stof January .The date scheduled for the election will be announced on 21 st of January the Elections commissioner Saman Sri Ratnayake has stated.

Price Of Coconuts Are On The Increase

The price of Coconuts at the local market is on the increase according to the sources.In some places the Price of a Coconut had risen to Rs.120 it has been revealed.

According to the Coconut Development Board the reason behind the increasing of Coconut Prices is due to the low harvest of Coconuts reached at the Market .The Board is expecting a harvest of 3300 million Coconuts this year .

Police Have Arrested A University Student Over Killing His Girl Friend

Cinnamon Gardens police have arrested a student attached to the science faculty of the Colombo University over killing his girl friend who was attached to the same University by using a sharp weapon at Colombo race course grounds last morning (17).

After killing his girl friend the suspect had fled away from the area and Police have arrested the suspect three hours later with the sharp object he used to kill the victim.The Victim was identified as a 24 year old student attached to the third year of the Science faculty at Colombo University resided at Kiriwaththuduwa area,Homagama (Colombo District).The reason behind the murder has not yet been recealed and Police are conducting an investigations over the incident .
