Police Have Detained A Person Who Had Stolen Money From A State Bank By Using ATM Cards

The police have detained a person who had stolen money from accounts belonging to other persons at a state bank in Muththur (In Northern Province) by using ATM cards.

The suspect was detained at inginiyagala area and police have recovered a sum of Rs.40,000 along with few ATM cards in possession of him it has been reported.

The suspect who is a resident in Girandurukotte Area has been remanded until 27th of this month after being produced before the Ampara Magistrate Court.

Two Were Killed And Three Got Injured Due To A Lorry-Motor Car Accident Occurred At Karawita

Two persons were killed and three others got injured and hospitalized due to a head on collission between a lorry and a motor car occurred at algama-nittambuwa road in karawita area yesterday (25) according to the police.

Five persons who were injured due to the accident have been admitted to wathupitiwala (in western province)hospital for treatment and two of them have succumbed to their injuries after admission it has been reported.

The warakapola police have detained the driver of the lorry and conducting further investigations on the accident.

Health Ministry To Hand Over Appointment Letters To 1034 Post Intern Doctors Tomorrow

The Ministry of Health,Nutrition and  Indeginous Medicine is due to hand over appointment Letters to 1034 Post Intern Doctors(who have completed their internship period) to rural hospitals where there are shortage of doctors tomorrow(26) at 9 a.m.

The handing over ceremony is due to be held in Bandaranaike Memorial InternatIonal Conference Hall at Colombo 07  tomorrow under the patronage of Minister of Health Dr.Rajitha Senatatne.

Around 12 Female Tea Pluckers Have Hospitalized Due To A Wasp Attack

Around 12 female Tea Pluckers have been injured and hospitalized today (25) due to a wasp attack occurred at Campian Tea Estate in Bagawanthalawa Area it has been reported.

Breaking of  a nest which housed wasps has been identified as the reason for the attack.

The injured were admitted to the Bagawanthalawa Provincial Hospital.

German Government To Provide 13 Million Euros For Five Sri Lankan Projects

The German government has decided to grant 13 million Euros to Sri Lanka to utilize it for five local projects.

The Secretary of the Ministry Of Finance and German Ambassador to Sri Lanka have today (25) signed an agreement regarding the relevent grant.

The German government's grant is due to be utilized for projects including Wilpattu National Park,A regional management project and Vocational Training Projects in North and Eastern Provinces .

The grant has been provided as a result of Sri Lankan President Maithripala Sirisena's visit to Germany recently.

Colombo High Court To Consider The Revision Petition Of Detained Former DIG Anura Senanayake On 08th Of September

The Colombo High Court is due to consider the revision petition filed by Former senior Deputy Inspector General Of Police (DIG) Anura Senanayake who is currently in remand over a murder case by seeking his release on 08th of September.


The revision petition which was filed by the former DIG Senanayake through his counsal has named the Attorney General ,director of Criminal Investigations Department (CID) and several other officials  as respondents.

The revision petition was filed by the former DIG who was detained and remanded over the murder of former Sri Lankan Rugby Player Wasim Thajudeen after the Colombo Magistrate Court has dismissed his bail application several times.

The former DIG Senanayake was detained by the CID on 23rd of May after being questioned on the murder for several times.

Court Of Appeal To Consider A Writ Application Filed Against Former LTTE Leader KP On 25th Of October

The Court of Appeal is due to consider a writ application filed against Former LTTE procurement wing leader and International Secretary Kumaran Pathmanathan alias KP on 25th of October.

Accordingly the court will decide whether to go ahead or not with the application on 25th of October.

The Appeals Court has earlier informed the Attorney General to submit an investigation report on KP.

 The court has also issued an interim order on 05th of february  by directing immigration emigration controller to prevent KP from leaving the country.

Two Sports Medicine Qualified Sri Lankan Doctors Have Been Selected For International Olympic Games For The First Time

The International Olympic Committee has selected two Sri Lankan Doctors who are qualified on Sports Medicine  for the first time to cover Olympic Sports Medicine Activities during the forthcoming Olympic Games scheduled to be held in  Rio De Janeiro in Brazil from 05th to 16th of August  according to the Ministry Of Health,Nutrition and Indigenous Medicine .

The two doctors the head of the Sports Medicine Unit in Karapitiya Teaching Hospital Dr.Himan De Silva and Dr.Sanka Thebuwanaarachchi attached to the same unit are among the 150 Doctors the International Olympic Committee has been selected for the Sports Medicine activities in the forthcoming Olympic Games .

Both Doctors have received Post Graduate Degrees on  Sports Medicine from the International Olympic Medical Council it has been reported.The Ministry of Health per  the instructions of Health Minister Dr.Rajitha Senaratne had provided the  Air Tickets and other facilities for the two doctors to enable them to fly Brazil.

The two doctors are due to fly to Brazil tomorrow(26).


Heavy Traffic Reported From Colombo Fort Area Due To A Protest March

Image result for protest clipartA Heavy Traffic has been reported in Colombo Fort area this noon as the Lotus Road has blocked due to a protest march conducted by a group of disabled Armed Forces Soldiers it has been reported.

The disabled Soldiers later hold a protest in front of Colombo Fort Railway Station against the current Army Pension Scheme.

Due to the traffic in the area Police have requested the motorists to use alternative routes when traveling.

Six Female Tea Pluckers Have Been Injured And Hospitalized Due To Wasp Attack In Bagawanthalawa

Image result for waspSix female Tea Pluckers have been injured and hospitalized this morning due to a Wasp Attack occurred at Curcuswall Tea Estate in Bagawanthalawa Area.

The injured were admitted to Bagawanthalawa Hospital for treatment and three of the injured Tea Pluckers have been already discharged from the hospital it has been reported.
