Inland Revanue Department Workers Launched A One Day Token Strike
Workers attached to the Inland Revanue Department
have launched an island wide token strike this morning (07)opposing the proposed Inland Revanue draft .
The proposed draft prepared by International Monetory Fund has suggested to recover income tax from Religeous Institutions ,Welfare associations and Death benevolent Societies which is unfair according to the Joint Committee Of Inland Revanue Trade Unions.

Foreign Employment Minister Urged The Public Not To Provide Money For Individuals To Get Employment In Canada
As there is no memorandum of understanding (MOU)
between Sri Lanka and Canada regarding foreign employment ,do not fall into traps set by some persons who requested huge amounts of money to arrange employment in Canada Minister of Foreign Employment Thalatha Athukorale has urged the public.
Minister has made this statement after the investigation division of Foreign employment bureau had arrested a female who had taken Rs.400,000 each from a group of persons by promised to provide employment in Canada.

No need to be panic over the current Dengue Epidemic
spreading in the country as it is normal that the spreading of Dengue here during the monsoons according to the Entomology Officers attached to the Government Health Service.

There is no evidence on the Dengue spreading in most parts of the country at present is fatal and uncontrollable than in previous years as stated by some medical professionals to foreign media the Officers have stressed.
The principal of the Entomology training school Najith Sumanasena has stated that the main reason behind the higher number of Dengue deaths is none other than delay of getting treatment to the disease and the Government medical staff knows very well on how to treat the dengue patients effectively.
As the Dengue is a man made disease one cannot blame only the authorities on the spreading of Dengue in the country as public too responsible on the situation he has stressed.
The disease is the same one that spread last year and people should destroy Dengue Mosquito Lavae breeding places in their premises as well as dispose garbage properly to avoid spreading Dengue he has stated.
Meanwhile as some of the Medical professionals and social scientists provided wrong information regarding the Dengue situation here to the foreign media ,it might affect the Sri Lanka's tourism industry badly health sources have stated.
One such professional has told an American media institute that the Dengue currently spreading in the country is fatal than in previous years and there is no proof to confirm that statement the sources added.
The most unfortunate incident is a well known national paper in India had few days ago published a feature story on current Dengue Epidemic in Sri Lanka and questioned why the sri lankan authorities not able to control the disease although have the best health indicators in the region.However the thing is they do not realize that there is no connection between the other health indicators and Dengue and they forgotten that India is a disease hit country and even diseases like plague and malaria which rarely seen here ,spreading rapidly in most parts of India.

A Lorry Driver Was Injured And Hospitalized Due To A Road Accident
A driver of a Lorry travelling from Hatton to Watawala
has been injured and hospitalized after the Lorry veering off the road and toppled over a culvert today (06)according to the Police.

All Excavation Work Of The Uma Oya Tunnel Has Been Suspended-Ministry Of Mahaweli Development
All excavation work of the underground Tunnel
attached to the controversial Uma Oya multisectoral development project has been suspended until the water leakage stopped according to the Ministry Of Mahaweli Development and Enviornment.
The boring machine located at the Underground tunnel will also be removed from the area within next ten days time the Ministry has stated few hours ago.
After the discussions held with the all the allies attached to the Uma Oya Development Project under the instructions of president Maithripala Sirisena ,the decision on suspending the excavations of the tunnel has been taken it has been revealed,
Ministry has advised the Badulle District secretary to release Rs.300 million to pay compansations for the people affected due to the Uma Oya project.people in the area had protested against the project during last few days as it has affected normal lives of the people.

Twenty Three Pharmaceutical Companies To Sign Many Agreements With Health Ministry Over Manufacturing Western Drugs Here
Twenty Three Western Pharmaceutical Companies are due to sign 33 agreements with the Ministry Of Health in Colombo on 11th of July regarding manufacturing western drugs for Government Hospitals locally .
These Pharmaceutical Companies are due to build Pharmaceutical Manufacturing plants in Horana,Kalutara,Koggala and Kandy and some Companies have already begun building the Plants according to the Health Ministry.
Through these plants around 2000 employment opportunities will be created for the public the Ministry has stated.

Police Have Closed Down The Entry Road To Galle Face Road Due To A Protest March
Police have closed down the entry road to Galle Face road from Lotus Roundabout this noon(06) due to a protest march launched by the Unemployed Graduates Union demanding solutions for their unemployment problem..
Due to this situation a heavy traffic has been reported from the area for hours this noon and Police have advised the motorists to use an alternative routes when traveling.

Health Minister Instructed The Officials To Prepare A Report On Gene Technology Therapy In View Of Implementing It Here
Health Minister Dr.Rajitha Senaratne has instructed the Ministry Officials to prepare a report on Treating diseases including Cancers through the Gene Technology Therapy currently use by USA ,and hand over to him within two weeks.
As the Health Minister plans to form a Gene Technology Therapy Unit here and implement the treatment ,he held a meeting with nine Sri Lankan Doctors who had undergone a training on this technology at the Ministry recently.
During the meeting Doctors who participated the meeting pledged their assistance to the Minister when implementing the Gene Technology Therapy here according to the Ministry sources.
Health Minister has also stated during the meeting that a special training on the technology will be given to these doctors in three American Universities namely Beeler,Houston and Rice which are successfully implemented this Gene Technology Therapy for treating many diseases.
