A Kidney Has Been Removed From The Body Of Deceased Pregnant Mother At A Government Hospital And Sent To A Private Hospital In Colombo For A Transplant Surgery-Government Medical Specialists

In a shocking revelation a group of Government  Medical Specialists has claimed that a Kidney of a four month pregnant mother who died upon admission to the one of the major government maternity hospitals in the country has been removed illegally and sent to a Colombo Based Private Hospital for a Kidney Transplant Surgery.

According to the group of Medical Specialists the pregnant mother who had been admitted to the government maternity hospital in late August last year has been taken to the theater by a group of doctors including a consultant surgeon and by showing they have done a cesarean surgery to remove the four month old fetus, removed one of her kidneys as well without getting permission from the relatives of the mother.

After the relatives of deceased mother learnt that a kidney from the mother has been removed they have informed it to the Colombo based police station through the emergency call system of the hospital.

However up to now no proper inquiry has done regarding the incident at hospital and police level the Medical Specialists have said.

The Kidney that removed from the deceased mother has sent to a private hospital which also charged by the Indian Police for performing illegal kidney transplant surgeries for Indian nationals recently.

Tangalle High Court Has Passed A Death Sentence For Five Suspects Over A Murder Occurred 27 Years Ago

The Tangalle(In Southern Province) High Court has yesterday(08) sentenced Five Suspects to Death over a murder occurred  27 years ago in 1989 .

The Tangalle High Court Judge Sujatha Alahapperuma has given the verdict of death sentence to  suspects when the case regarding the murder has been taken up for hearing yesterday(08).

The suspects have been charged for murdering a person named A.M Andiris during the JVP Riots in 1989.

Kayts Additional Magistrate Has Remanded The Ten Suspects Of The Gang Rape And Murder Of 17 Year Old School Girl

The Kayts(In Northern Province) Magistrate has yesterday(08) remanded the ten suspects who had been arrested and remanded in connection with the gang rape and murder of a 17 year old School Girl in Kayts until 19th of February.

The Additional Magistrate Of Kayts ,E.Sabesan has ordered the Police to remand the ten suspects further after they have being produced before the Court yesterday when the case has taken up for hearing..

The gang rape and murder of the 17 year old school girl had caused violent protests in Jaffna recently.

Family Health Bureau Has Designed A Mechanism To Identify The New Born Infants In Sri Lanka With Small Heads-Dr.Kapila Jayaratne

The Family Health Bureau has designed a mechanism to identify the new born infants with small heads which occurred as a result of "Zika Virus Infection" according to the Consultant Community Physician attached to the Bureau Dr.Kapila Jyaratne.

This mechanism will be implemented in both government and private hospitals and under this  infants with small heads among the new born infants and dead infants will be identified  and a system will be implemented to report such cases constantly Dr.Jayaratne has said.

All the  precautionary measures will be taken if  there's an unusual increase of   infants with small heads in the country  he has stressed.

Infants born to the mothers who are infected with Zika Virus Infection will be affected with Zika Virus according to Medical Specialists.

As Sri Lanka is having two mosquito varieties  which spreading  Zika Virus Infection, the country has also named by the World Health Organization as a country which is at a risk of spreading the infection.However still there are no reports on spreading the disease in Sri Lanka.

A group of Joint Opposition Parliamentarians which  is supporting former president Mahinda Rajapakshe has launched a campaign this morning to get one million signatures for a petition which urges the government to ensure the safety of local Soldiers and War Heroes.

The Campaign to sign the petition has been launched at Sri Sambuddaloka Viharaya(Temple) in Colombo and the former president Mahinda Rajapakshe was first to sign the petition according to reports.

The former defense secretary Gotabaya Rajapakshe  and several former  and current parliamentarians have been signed the petition the reports have said.

A Section Of A Southern Expressway To Be Closed Down Tomorrow(09) For Two Hours

The Southern Expressway from Welipanna to Kurundugahahathakma is due to be closed down from 1 P.M to 3 P.M for traffic from Galle to Colombo according to Highway Police.

The line will be closed in view of removing a container which met an accident at the Southern Expressway the Police have said.

The Highway Police have requested the motorists to use an alternative routes during the closure period.

Air Port Customs Officers Have Arrested A Sri Lankan Attempted To Smuggle 30,000 Euros Out Of The Country

The Air Port Customs Officers have arrested a 55 year old Sri Lankan Male early this morning at the Katunayake ,Bandaranike International Air Port while attempting to smuggle 30,000 Euros to Singapore by concealing them in his rectum.

The suspect has been arrested at the Departure Lounge of the Katunayake International Air Port and the amount of Euros he has carried in his rectum is worth Rs.4.9 million according to Customs Officers.

The Deputy Director Of Customs has launched an investigation on the incident.

Working Committee Of Governing United National Party Has Decided To Nominate Field Marshal Sarath Fonseka For A Vacant National List Parliamentary seat

The working committee of the governing United National Party(UNP) has today(08) unanimously decided to nominate the Democratic Party(DP) Leader and former Army Commander Field Marshal Sarath Fonseka for the National List Parliamentary Seat left vacant due to the death of M.K.A.D.S Gunawardena.

The decision to nominate Field Marshal Fonseka for the vacant seat came after a collective agreement signed between governing United National Party(UNP) led by Prime Minister Ranil Wikramsinghe  and Democratic Party led by Field Marshal Sarath Fonseka last week at Temple Trees in Colombo.

According to the agreement the Democratic Party became a member of governing United National Front led by United National Party.
