Police Fired Tear Gas To Disperse A Protest March HND Students

Police fired tear gas and water cannons to disperse a massive protest march staged at Colombo fort today organized by HND (Higher National Diploma )Students in Colombo Fort today (21) when they have attempted to enter President's office .

Earlier today Colombo Fort Magistrate had issued a court order imposing certain restrictions on the protest march ,

The Court also restricted protestors from entering or moving towards certain roads including the road from the NSM roundabout to Chaithya Rd, or Janadhipathi Mawatha, Ceramic Street to York Street, Bank road, lower Chatham Street, the main road opposite the Grand Oriental Hotel, Layden Bastian Rd, Sir Baron Jayathilake road, Mudalige road, Hospital Street and Canal road.

A Ship Carrying 40,000 Metric Tones Of Diesel Arrived In Colombo Harbor

A Ship carrying 40,000 Metric tones of Diesel under the Indian credit line arrived in Colombo harbor this evening (21) it has been reported .

With this consignment of Diesel India had provided US Dollars 1.5 billion worth fuel to Sri Lanka so far according to the Indian High Commission in Colombo .

However Minister of Power Kanchana Wijesekare had today stated Fuel which will be sufficient to use for 10 days have been finished in just 06 days due to the higher demand of fuel in the country at present ,

IGP Had Given Five Hour Long Statement To CID

The Inspector General Of Police (IGP) C.D Wikramaratne had arrived at Criminal Investigations Department (CID) headquarters in Colombo Fort this evening (21) and given a statement more than five hours long regarding the assault of protesters at Galle face green and in front of Temple trees (Prime Minister's official residence ) it has been reported .

IGP had arrived at CID to give the statement after the CID officials had requested him to do so .

So far 08 persons including MP's Sanath Nishnatha and Milan jayathilake had been arrested and remanded over assaulting protesters at Gota gogama in Galle Face and "Mayina gogama " at Temple trees ,
