Former Minister Of Economic Development Basil Rajapakshe And Former Divi Naguma Director General Released On Bail By The Court

The former Minister of Economic Development Basil Rajapakshe and former Director General of Divi Naguma Department R.R. K Ranawake have  been released today(10) on bail by the Colombo High Court over the allegations leveled against them on misappropriation of Divi Naguma Funds.

However they are banned from traveling abroad and  Colombo High Court has taken their passports under Court's Custody.

The case filed against the above mentioned is due to be taken to consideration on 22nd of July.

Five Imprisoned Persons Including Former President's Second Son Yoshitha Have Been Further Remanded By Kaduwela Magsitrate

The five persons including Yoshitha Rajapakshe the second son of former president Mahinda Rajapakshe who are in remand for Money Laundering Charges have been further remanded until 24th of March by the Kaduwela Magistrate Court short while ago.

The five accused have been remanded further after they were produced before the Kaduwela Magistrate Court today(10).

Former President's second son Yoshitha Rajapakshe and four others attached to the Private Television Channel Carlton Sports Network (CSN) were arrested and remanded over money laundering charges.

The bail application filed behalf of them by their Attorneys is due to be taken to consideration by Colombo High Court on next Monday(14).

Naval Officer Attached To Naval Base In Kareinagar Has Committed Suicide

A Naval Officer attached to Elara Naval Base in Kareinagar (In Northern Province) has committed suicide by shot himself with  his official fire arm it has been reported.

The body of the deceased who was a 26 year old resident in Kotuhena ,Gokarella Area has been taken to Jaffna Hospital for the Post Mortam which is due to be held today(10).

The reason behind his suicide not yet been revealed .Kayts Police are conducting an investigation on the suicide.

Funeral Of The Late Chief Prelate Of Asgiriya Chapter To Be Held On Sunday(13)

The Funeral of the Late Chief Prelate of the Asgiriya Chapter Most Venerable Galagama Sri Aththadassi Thero will be held on this Sunday(13) at Police Grounds in Kandy it has been announced.

The late Thero has passed away at the age of 94 yesterday (09)after admitted to the Kandy General Hospital last evening with unconscious state.He was hospitalized following an accidental  fall inside his temple.

There's No Security Threat In Sri Lanka-Only The Crime Rate Increased In Some Parts Of The Country -Police Spokesman

There's no threat to the Security of Sri Lanka at the moment but only an increase in the crime rate reported from  some parts of the country due to personal conflicts according to Police Spokesman Ruwan Gunasekere.

Most of  these Crime Incidents reported from Western and Southern Provinces and due this the security in those provinces has tightened Police Spokesman has said.

During past few weeks several shooting incidents had reported mainly from Western and Southern Provinces in the Island and few people were killed due to these shootings it has been reported.

The Department Of Police have already launched a massive island wide search operation in view of eradicating underworld gangs believed to be involved in these shootings.

Colombo Additional Magistrate Has Ordered The Police To Record A Statement From Minister Patali Champika Ranawaka Regarding An Accident

The Colombo Additional Magistrate has today(09) ordered the Police to record a statement from Minister Of Mega Police Patali Champika Ranawake regarding the accident occurred on 28th of February  at Rajagiriya by injuring two youths.

 As It  is alleged the Minister was  involved in the accident Colombo Additional Magistrate's  Order was issued per the request made by the Police this morning.The Colombo Additional Magistrate has also ordered the Police to obtain the phone records of Minister Ranawake.

One youth was critically injured and another youth received minor injuries due to the accident which occurred in Rajagiriya involved by a Ministry Vehicle and a Motor Bicycle.

The critically injured youth is currently receiving treatment at Intensive Care Unit of the Colombo National Hospital.

Resolution For The Appointment Of Constitutional Assembly With Amendments Was Passed At Parliament

The Resolution for the appointment of Constitutional Assembly to Formulate a New Constitution for Sri Lanka with amendments was passed at the Parliament this evening without a vote .

Prime Minister Ranil Wikramasinghe has presented the resolution to the Parliament on 09th of January .

According to the resolution it proposed to establish a committee of Parliament "The Constitutional Assembly" which consists of  all the members of Parliament.

The Speaker of the Parliament will be appointed as the Chairman of Constitutional Assembly  and there will be seven deputy chairman's in the assembly who shall be elected by the Constitutional Assembly.

Chief Prelate Of The Asgiriya Chapter Venerable Galagama Sri Aththadassi Thero Has Passed Away

The Chief Prelate of the Asgiriya Chapter of the  Siam Sector most venerable Galagama Sri Aththadassi Thero who was hospitalized after a fall this evening has passed away while receiving treatment at Intensive Care Unit of the Kandy General Hospital .

The Asgiriya Thero who was aged 94 at the time of his death has accidentally fallen down in  his temple this evening and admitted to the Kandy General Hospital for treatment.He was reported as in an unconscious situation whilst in th Hospital due to the fall.

Asgiriya Thero who was born on 11th of January 1922 was elected as the 21st Chief Prelate of the Asgiriya Chapter on 08th of May 2015.

Detained Ven.Dhammaloka Thero Has Been Remanded Until 17th Of March

Venerable Uduwe dhammaloka thero who had arrested this noon by Criminal Investigations Department Officers  for illegally keeping an Elephant Calf  in his possession has been remanded until. l7th of March by Colombo additional magistrate .

Police Financial Crimes Investigations Division Has Informed Colombo Additional Magistrate It Has Launched An Investigation On Money Laundering

The Colombo Additional Magistrate Nishantha Pieris has today(09) issued a court order to prevent 7 Individuals  from leaving the country over a Money Laundering Charges.

The Court Order was issued per the request made by Police it has been revealed.

The Police Financial Crimes Investigations Division has today informed the Colombo Additional Magistrate that an investigation has launched on a complaint filed by JVP's Northern Provincial Councilor Wasantha Samarasinghe at Anti Corruption Secretariat by claiming  Former President Mahinda Rajapakshe's Son MP Namal Rajapakshe has purchased a Private Company in Colombo for over Rs.150 Million and that  money was obtained through the Money Laundering.

The Police Financial Crimes Investigations Division has requested the Colombo Additional Magistrate to issue a court order prohibiting the 7 individuals from leaving the country excluding MP Namal Rjapakshe.

Besides issuing court order the Colombo Additional Magistrate has also ordered to freeze the accounts of 4 Financial Institutions that connected to the above mentioned private company which is in question.

Ministry Of Health To Launch An Island Wide Campaign To Educate People On HIV/AIDS

The Ministry Of Health,Nutrition and Indigenous Medicine has decided to launch an island wide campaign to educate People on HIV/AIDS from rural level to urban level  including Politicians and Higher Officers according to Director General of Health Services Dr.Palitha Mahipala .

Addressing a Media Seminar held at Health Education Bureau in Colombo this morning Dr.Mahipala has stated  he regretted  what has happened in Kuliyapitiya area over a six year old boy whom the people in the area believed as suffering from HIV./AIDS.

"A Section of people  not yet received the correct message on HIV/AIDS.Therefore the Health Ministry has decided to launch an island wide programme to educate all on the Disease.A special meeting regarding this was held at the Ministry yesterday(08) under the patronage of acting Health Minister Fiazal Kassim "He has stressed.

President Maithripala Sirisena has personally instructed the Health Ministry to launch a Island wide campaign to educate all sorts of people in the country on HIV/AIDS ,Dr.Mahipala has further stated.

According to Director General Of Health Services HIV/AIDS can only transmitted from infected person to a normal person through Sex,Blood Transfusion and Injecting Narcotic Drugs/ Sharing Needles .Through Air,Wind,Hugging,Kissing,Sharing Cloths,towels ,Toilets and  through Mosquito Bites the Disease cannot spread  he has revealed.
