Over 2000 Persons Arrested Over Easter Sunday Attacks

Police have arrested 2289 persons
regarding the Easter Sunday bombings so far and 423 of them had been remanded after producing before the court according to Police Media Spokesman SP Ruwan Gunasekare .

Addressing a media briefing held in Colombo today (03)Police Media Spokesman has stressed that another 211 persons are still being questioned in Criminal Investigations Department (CID) under detention orders .1655 suspects had been released on
 bail. .

Six Member Investigations Board Probing Allegations Levelled Against Dr.Safi Handed Over Its Interim Report To Health Secretary

The six member Special Investigations
Board  appointed to probe on arresting of the Senior House officer attached to Kurunagala Teaching Hospital Seigu Siyabdeen Mohommad Safi and complaints submitted against him over illegal sterilization had handed over its interim report to Health Ministry Secretary Wasantha Perera today (03)at the Health Ministry .

The Interim  report handed over by the Investigations Board chairman Dr.Anil Samaranayake to the Health Secretary made four recommendations to carrying out the investigation further .

Accordingly The investigation Board had suggested (01)that the content and the members of the Board should be increased as the allegations leveled against the doctor safi has expanded a long period of time and the complaints were large in number

(02)Also Investigation Board wants the administrative support of the Kurunagala Teaching Hospital Director to carry out the investigations against the doctor .(03)To investigate all complaints made by mothers regarding illegal sterilization and the (04)names of all staff members who were involved in cesarean surgeries at the Kurunagala Hospital.

Athuraliye Rathana Thero's Condition Has Been Improved

The condition of the MP Athuraliye
Rathana Thero who had been hospitalized after ending his four day long  Fasting campaign ,is stable it has been announced.

Rathana Thero Had been admitted to the Kandy Teaching Hospital this noon  from the Mahamaluwa where he lied and carried out his fasting .When he was taken to the hospital from the Ambulance the people near Hospital worshipped him it has been reported. Athuraliye Thero Had refused to consume food during the fasting and drank  only  water accordance to medical advise .

All Muslim Cabinet , State And Deputy Minister's Had Resigned From Their Posts

All Muslim Cabinet Ministers, State
Ministers and Deputy Minister's of the present government including Commerce Minister Rishad Baduideen had resigned from their Portfolios today  (03)to pave the way for ensure impartiality of   ongoing investigations on extremism according to them.

Addressing a Press briefing held at Prime Minister's Official residence  Temple Trees this evening (03)Minister Rauf Hakeem has stressed that although all Muslim Ministers and Deputy Minister's have resigned from their Portfolios they will never leave the government to weaken it and will support the government by sitting in backbench of the Parliament.

Addressing the Briefing Governing United National Party  (UNP) Minister Kabir Hashim has stated that they have decided to step down from their posts to assist ongoing investigations on extremism. "It will take around one month for Criminal Investigations Department  (CID) to complete these investigations and anyone who had allegations against Muslim Ministers and MP's can complain on it "He has stressed .

Among those Muslim Ministers who had resigned today were Rauf Hakim ,Rishad Baduideen ,Amir Ali ,A.H. M Fowzie and Kabir Hashim.

   

Athuraliye Rathana Thero Ended His Fasting After Informing Resignation Of Two Governors

MP Venerable Athuraliye Rathana
Thero who had begun a continuous fasting  at Mahamaluwa in Sacred Sri Dalada Maligawa last friday (31)had ended his fasting campaign this noon (03)after being officially informed that Western and Eastern Provincial Governors Azath Sally and M. L.A.M Hisbulla had resigned from their posts .

Central Province governor Maithree Gunaratna had officially informed on the resignation of two Governors to Rathana Thero and after reading the resignation letters handed over by two Governors Rathana Thero Has ended his fasting campaign .

As he has avoided consuming food and only drank water accordance to the medical advise during the fasting Rathana Thero Had been taken to Kandy Teaching Hospital for treatment soon after ending his fast .

A large number of Buddhist devotees, Political party representatives, Catholic priests and Archbishop of Colombo Cardinal Malcolm Ranjith have visited to see Fasting Thero yesterday and today it has been reported .

General Secretary of the Bodu Bala Sena Galagodaatte Gnanasara Thero too had visited Rathana Thero.

Western And Eastern Provincial Governors Azath Sally And Hisbulla Resigned From Their Posts

Western Provincial Governor Azath Sally and Eastern Province governor M.L.A.M. Hisbulla have resigned from their posts this noon  (03)according to the President's Media Unit .

Both Governors had tendered their resignation letters to the president Maithripala Sirisena at the Presidential Secretariet in Colombo.They have resigned due to the growing pressure in the society demanding them to resign from their posts over supporting extremism.

Both Governors held talks with President Sirisena last night and this morning regarding growing demands to remove them from posts  however in both occasions president did not request the two Governors to resign  it has been reported .

Firmer Eastern province governor Hisbulla had stated in his resignation letter that he has resigned from the post to ensure the security of Muslim Community and to Strengthen President 's Hands .
