Wild Life Officers Have Shot And Killed A Bear While Attacking Two Fishermen

office have today (24)shot and killed a Wild Bear while attacking two fishermen near the Girithale wewa (Tank) .




The Bear was recovered by the  residents in Kuchchiweli ,Trincomalee in sick status on last Monday(20)and he has escaped while taking to the Girithale Veterinary Office from a cage.

While Wild life officers have searched  the Bear they heard that a Bear was attacking two villagers and to save them the Officers shot and killed the Bear it has been stated.

A School Girl Has Died After Been Drifted Away By Strong Waves Of A Canal

A nine year old school girl has died
after been drifted away by the storng waves of a canal as a result of the heavy showers ,while returning home after school this evening(24) at Samagipura area in Ragala.

The deceased who was a student of the Kanikawatta Tamil School had faced this incident while returning home from the school with her school mates

Her body was sent to the Nuwara Eliya Hospital it has been reported.

Main Suspect Of The Central Bank Bond Scam Arjun Mahendran Is In Singapore -INTERPOL Inforned The CID

Related imageThe Singapore branch of the International Police (INTERPOL) has informed the local Criminal Investigations Department (CID) Officials who are investigating over the Central Bank Bond Scam the main suspect of the Bond Scam former Central Bank Governor Arjun Mahendran is now arrived in Singapore ,The Legal Draftsman's  Department has informed today (24) to the Colombo Fort Magistrate Court.

Colombo Fort Magistrate Court earlier issued Red Notice to the INTERPOL to arrest Arjun Mahendran ,However he was not in Singapore at that time it has been revealed.

Meanwhile  the  imprisoned Chief suspects of the Bond Scam, the owner of the Perpetual Treasuries Limited Arjun Aloysius and the Chief Executive Officer of the Perpetual Treasuries Kasun Palisena have been further remanded until 07th of June  by the Fort Magistrate after being produced before her .

Nearly 125,000 Persons In 19 Districts Have Been Affected Due To Adverse Weather

Nearly 125 ,000 persons lives in 19 Districts have been affected and 12 have died due to the Adverse Weather conditions up to now  as a result of Heavy Showers and winds according to the Disaster Management Center(DMC).

Around 43 houses have been completely destroyed and another 3172 Houses have been partially damaged due to the Adverse Weather the Center has stated.

The report issued by the DMC by this morning ,nearly 56,500 persons are being moved to 246 centers temporarily due to the Adverse Weather.

Meanwhile according to the National Building Research Organization (NBRO) five districts namely Kegalle,Ratnapura,Nuwara Eliya,Kalutara and Galle are being issued red notice landslide warnings since last evening (23).The NBRO has also requested the people lives in Badulle,Kurunagala,Gampha and Colombo warnings over possible landslides,collapsing of soil mounds ,rocks and slopes .

Biysgama-Kaduwela Bridge Due To Be Closed for Seven Hours From Tonight (24)

Due to a Soil Erosion occurred in one of it's  parts ,The Biyagama -KaduwelaBridge built over the Kelani River is due to be closed from 10 p.m  tonight to 5 a.m tomorrow (25)as a safety measure  according to the Rural Development Authority(RDA).

Collapsing Of A Soil Mound Restricted The Transport Activities In Kandy-Bambarella Road

Transport activities of the Kandy -Bambarella road had been disrupted since this morning (24) due to a collapsing of a Soil Mound at Hulugalla area of the road as a result of the heavy showers prevails in the area .
Due to this situation transport activities are being restricted to one lane of the road according to authorities.

Heavy Showers Caused The Overflowing Of Kadupity Oya

Due to the overflowing of Kadupity Oya (River) to the road  as a result of the heavy showers prevailing ,authorities in Mahawewa Provincial secretariat  had taken steps to direct the overflowing water to the Sea through Thalwila it has been reported.

Due to this situation the overflown water of the Oya has been receding and a traffic congestion occurred in sea route from Wennappuwa to Chilaw .

As the Authorities are continuously  delaying the building of a bridge near the Oya the overflowing is occurring every time when there are heavy showers the residents have stated.

Water Level Of Kalu River Continuously Increasing-A Large Number Of Persons From Ratnapura To Kalutara Near The River Banks Evacuated

As the water level of the Kalu Ganga (River) is increasing rapidly and nearing the spill  level, a large number of persons lives in low land areas around the River from Ratnapura to Kalutara have been evacuated from their houses and moved to safer places since last night by the authorities according to the Disaster Management Center(DMC).

The center has last night requested the people lives in low land areas near Kalu Ganga to evacuate from their houses .

The heavy rain is still continues in Most districts in the island   and due to it water level of Gin River is increasing from Baddegama area ,Water level of Nilwala River is increasing from Pathadugama area and Attanagalu Oya from Dunamale areas according to reports.

Sea areas also predicted as will be rough in coming hours while the sea area from Galle to Trincomalee will be rough and windy and wind with the speed of 70 to 80 kilo meters per hour may be occurred according to the Meteorology Department.
Due to this situation Naval and fisheries communities  are being advised to be vigilant over the situation.
