Cancer Patients In Local Society Are On The Increase -National Cancer Control Programme
The Cancer Patients in Sri Lankan Society are increasing rapidly according to National Cancer Control Programme.
According to the latest statistics 25% of the female cancer patients identified annually in Sri Lanka are suffering from Breast Cancer.Besides Breast Cancer other cancers like Oral,Lung and Cervical Cancers in the local society are on the increase the Cancer Control Programme said.
In the year 2009 alone 15,888 Cancer Patients have been identified in Sri Lanka Oncologists have revealed.
"One Third of the all Cancer Patients in the society can be cured through a healthy life style and medication " the Oncologists have stressed.
These facts have been revealed during a Media Seminar held yesterday(03) at Health Education Bureau in Colombo to mark World Cancer Day which falls today(04).

Air Port Customs Officers Have Arrested A Singaporean National
The Air Port Customs Officers have arrested a Singaporean National who attempted to smuggle a stock of foreign currency notes worth around 222 Lakhs to Singapore at the Katunayake Bandaranaike International Air Port early morning yesterday(03) .
The Customs Officers have arrested the suspect at the departure lounge of Air Port when he tried to board the plane PK-348 flying to Singapore .
Air Port Customs Officers have decided to handover the detained stock of foreign currencies to Colombo Central investigations Unit for taking an action.

Sri Lanka Celebrates 68th National Independence Day Tomorrow(04)
The 68th National Independence Day of Democratic Socialist Republic Of Sri Lanka falls tomorrow(04).Sri Lanka has gained independence from British Rule on 04th Of February 1948.
The National Independence Day Celebrations scheduled to be held tomorrow (04) at Galle Face Green in Colombo under the patronage of President Maithripala Sirisena.
The National Independence Day Celebrations will be held in two sessions under the theme "Ekama Dayak-Maha Balayak"(One Nation-High Power) according to the Government.
The main ceremony which including tri forces guard of honor and procession will be held tomorrow morning under the patronage of President and in the evening a function to mark National Independence Day including traditional and cultural shows will be held from 7 p.m on wards at Galle Face Green in Colombo under the patronage of President Sirisena and Prime Minister Ranil Wikramasinghe.The theme of the evening celebrations is "Nidahse Hadgasma"(Heartbeat Of Independence.

An Arrest Warrant Has Been Issued Against Southern Provincial Council Chief Minister
An arrest warrant has been issued by the Galle Magistrate Court this morning against Chief Minister of Southern Provincial Council Shan Wijelal Silva.
The Galle Magistrate Nilupuli Lankapura has issued the arrest warrant as the Chief Minister Of Southern Provincial Council has failed to appear before court in connection with an election violence case according to reports.
The Akmeemana(In Southern Province) Police has filed the case against Chief Minister for allegedly threatening a group of postal voters during the presidential election held last year.Meanwhile the lawyer of the Chief Minister Shan Wijelal has informed the court that his client was not able to appear before court as he is currently is on an overseas tour.

The Economic Development Minister of previous government Basil Rajapakshe has today(03) given a statement to Police Financial Crimes Investigations Division (FCID)regarding an alleged financial transaction occurred at "Divi Naguma" Programme..
Former Minister Basil Rajapakshe who is the younger brother of former President Mahinda Rajapakshe has arrived at FCID in response to the request made to him.
He was in prison previously regarding the alleged financial transaction occurred at Divi Naguma Programme.

Former Assistant Superintendent Of Embilipitiya Police Division Has Been Remanded Until 17th Of February
The former Assistant Superintendent Of Police(ASP) of Embilipitiya Police Division D.W.C Dharamaratne who has been arrested yesterday(02) has been remanded until 17th of February after being produced before Embilipitiya Magistrate Court this morning.
The former ASP has been arrested by Criminal Investigations Department(CID) per the instructions of Embilipitiya Magistrate in connection with the death of a youth who died after falling down from an up stair of a party house in Embilipitiya on 04th of January.
The Embilipitiya Magistrate has also instructed the Police to arrest and produce the Embilipitiya Headquarters Inspector(HQI) S.R.J Dias regarding the death of the youth.

Governing United National Party Has Signed A Collective Agreement With Former Army Commander's Democratic Party
The governing United National Party(UNP) led by Prime Minister Ranil Wikramasinghe and the Democratic Party(DP) led by former Army Commander Field Marshal Sarath Fonseka have signed a collective agreement this evening at Prime Minister's Official Residence "Temple Trees" symbolizing the Field Marshal's Party joining the government.
The agreement has been signed by Prime Minister Ranil Wikramasinghe and Field Marshal Sarath Fonseka behalf of their parties.
Under the agreement the Democratic Party will become a member of the Governing United National Front ,the coalition led by United National Party.
Meanwhile Political Sources have revealed that Field Marshal Fonseka is due to appoint as a MP of governing United National Front through the National List .
