police Fired Tear Gas To Disperse A Protest

 Police used tear gas and water cannons to disperse a protesr march held opposite the Universoty of Colombo last evening(05).The protest narch organized by the Students Union of the University of Peradeniya held against  vilolating the fundamental rights of the General Public.

Police had arrested two student activists participated the Protest march and they are due to be produced before the Hulftsdorf Magistrate Court today(06).

Chairman And Board Of Directors Of Consumer Affairs Authority Asked To Step Down

Minister of Trade,Commerce and Food Safety Nslin Fernando has advised the chairman of Consumer Affairs Authority President's Counsal Shantha niriella and Board of Directors to resign from their posts .

According to the Minister Fernando ,he has decided to appoint a new Board of Directors by removing the present Board of Directors and the Chairman as they are there for a long time.

 

A Person Arrested With Fake Currency Notes

 The Pothuhara Police had arrested a person in possession of 45 fake currency notes of Rs.5000 yesterday(05) at Kuripotta area in Pothuhara.

The suspect is a 29 year old resident of Polpithigama area it has been revealed.Police had arrested the suspect in an earlier occasion with a money printing mechine it has been revealed 

Ceypetco Reduced Fuel Prices

 The Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CEYPETCO had revised fuel.prices with effect from  midnight on Monday04).

Accordingly the price of a Liter of  Octane-95 petrol has been reduced  by Rs.9 to Rs.447,A liter of  ,Super Diesel by Rs.10 to Rs.458 and a liter of Kerosene oil has been reduced by Rs.5 to Rs.257  it has been announced.The prices of  Octane -92 Petrol and Auto Diesel remains unchamged .

Meanwhile Lanka Indian Oil Company (LIOC) and Sinopec had also reduced the fuel prices in line with the Ceypetco prices.
