Galle Magistrate Lifted The Foreign Travel Ban Imposed On Former Defense Secretary

The Galle Magistrate has today (27) lifted the foreign travel ban imposed on former Defense Secretary Gotabya Rajapakshe over the allegation leveled against him on that he has used a commercial  floating armory.

Earlier Galle Magistrate has imposed travel ban for three persons namely former defense secretary Gotabaya Rajapakshe,former navy commander and  advise of Avant Guarde floating armory Satilaka Dissanayake and another director of Avant Guarde by avoiding them traveling overseas during the case.

US Government To Submit A Proposal To UN Human Rights Council By Encouraging Sri Lanka To Conduct A Domestic Inquiry Over Alleged War Crimes

US Government has decided to produced a proposal to the forthcoming Summit of United Nations Human Rights Council  to be held in Geneva ,Switzerland in September by encouraging Sri Lanka to conduct a domestic  inquiry instead of the  proposed  international inquiry on alleged war crimes.

The visiting Assistant Secretary of  US State Department on South and Central Asian Affairs Nisha Bishwal is due to be produced the said proposal to the UN Human Rights Council Summit with Sri Lankan Delegation due to attend the summit.

In an earlier occasions USA leads the team of countries that produced three proposals to the UN Human Rights Council Summit regarding Sri Lanka to encourage the authorities on conducting an international inquiry over the alleged war crimes  said to be occurred in Sri Lanka during the final phase of war against LTTE.

A Fundamental Rights Petition Has Filed At Supreme Court Challenging The UPFA National List

A member of Mahajana Eksath Peramuna(MEP) Party attach to the United Peoples Freedom Alliance(UPFA) has today(26) filed a fundamental rights petition at the  Supreme Court by challenging the   National List  MP'S selected by UPFA including six candidates who were defeated at the election.

The Fundamental Rights Petition has been  filed by member of the MEP ,Somaweera Chandrasiri.The UPFA which defeated at the recently concluded election has received 12 Bonus Seats from the National List and under the instructions of UPFA Chairman President Maithripala Sirisene the general secretary of UPFA has been nominated 12 candidates including 6 defeated candidates as National List MP'S.

Professor Vishwa Warnapala Has Assumed Duties As New General Secretary Of UPFA

Professor Vishwa Waranapala has today(26) assumed duties as the new General Secretary Of United Peoples Freedom Alliance(UPFA) .

The former General Secretary of UPFA who was sacked by President Sirisene through a court order has resigned from the post officially yesterday(26).President Sirisene has appointed Professor Warnapala as the new secretary to the UPFA after sacking Susil Premjayantha.

The new General Secretary of UPFA Professor Warnapala has been an active member of the main party belonging to UPFA ,Sri Lanka Freedom Party(SLFP) since his university days.He was appointed to the SLFP Central Committee by Former Sri Lankan Prime Minister late Mrs.Sirimawo Bandaranaike.

New Cabinet Is Scheduled To Be Sworn In Next Wednesday(02)-UNP Chairman

The Cabinet of the newly elected government will be sworn in next Wednesday (02nd  Of September) before the President Maithripala Sirisene and Prime Minister Ranil Wikramasinghe according to the Chairman of governing United National Party(UNP) Malik Samarawikrame.

Although the Prime Minister Ranil Wikramasinghe and three other Ministers have sworn in on their Posts already  the swearing ceremony of rest of the Ministers getting delayed due to the confusion arisen between UNP and opposition UPFA over allocating key ministerial portfolios among their parties.

However according to the UNP Chairman both parties have reached a final consequences over forming a national government and also  have partially agreed on the ministries they are going to share by today(26).According to reports the governing UNP has agreed to give the key ministerial portfolios of Ministry of Highways,Agriculture,Irrigation,Higher Education and Samurdhi Affairs to government partner UPFA.However the governing party has refused to give the Ministry Of Public Administration to UPFA as it  requested.

Meanwhile the inaugural session of the newly elected parliament will be held on next Tuesday(01) the government has announced.
