A Chinese National Was Arrested With 126 Illegally Imported Cigarette Sticks At Hambanthota

The excise Department officials of
Hambanthota had arrested a Chinese National with 126 illegally imported Cigarette sticks without paying tarrifs ,in possession at a firm near Hambanthota City today(14).

The suspect was later produced before the Hambanthota Magistrate Court by the Excise Department officials where he was ordered to pay  Rs.500,000 fine.

However the Chinese National was unable to pay the fine and due to this Magistrate has remanded him until 06 th of June.

Chinese Government To Provide US Dollars One Billion Loan To Construction Work Of Central Expressway

Chinese government has deccided to provide  US Dollars one Billion as a loan to the construction work of the first phase of Central Expressway.

Chinese Ambassador to Sri Lanka Cheng Xieyuan had informed Sri Lankan  Prime  Minister Ranil Wikramasinghe on this loan during the talks held between the two parties today(14).





Kegalle-Bulathkohupitiya Road Has Been Closed Due To A Rock Fall

been  temporarily closed this evening(14) due to a falling of a rock according to the Disaster Management Center.

Two Females Have Been Appointed To The Head Posts Of The State Owned Rupavahini And ITN

Samaraweera  has appointed three females for the top post of  Two National Electronic Media Institutions The National Rupavahini Corporation and Independent Television Network(ITN) and the SALACINE productions Limited with immediatte effect.

Accordingly Film and Tele Drama Director Inoka Sathyangani Has Been Appointed as the New Chairman of the Sri Lanka Rupavahini Corporation ,Thilaka Jayasundara as the Chairman of ITN and Uma Rajamanthri as the Chiairman Of SALACINE Limited.


  • Earlier The Ministry Of Finance and Media had requested the Heads of the Government Media Institutions to step down from their posts in view of appointing  new heads for the Institutes.

Kandapola Area Of The Nuwara-Eliya-Ragala Road Has Been Submerged By Flood Waters

Kandapola new road attached to the
Nuwara Eliya-Ragala road has been submerged today (14)by the flood waters due to the heavy showers prevailing in the area it has been reported.

Due to this situation transport activities of the road have been disrupted.Due to the non availability of a Proper drainage system ,even during  mild showers the road get submerged according to reports.

A Sri Lankan Was Arrested While Attempting To Smuggle Gold Weighing 400 Grammes At The Airport

Airport customs officers have today(14)
arrested a 56 year old Sri Lankan male who had returned from Chennai ,India and attempting to smuggle four Gold Chunks weighing 100 grammes each to Sri Lanka at the Katunayake, Bandara naike International Airport this afternoon(14).

The Suspect who is a resident of Colombo had concealed the Gold Chunks weighing 400 grammes inside his luggage and the Luggage Scan unit had detected it, it has been revealed.

The estimated value of the Gold Chunks taken in to custody in possession of the suspect is around Rs.2.4 million according to the Customs.

Airport Customs are conducting an investigations on the incident.


Thirty Five Suspects Including The Leader Of "Mahason "Balakaya (Force) Arrested And Remanded Over Communal Violences In Kandy Re Remanded

Image result for court orderThirty Five suspects including the leader of "Mahason "Balakaya Amith Weerasinghe who have been arrested and remanded over involving in recent communal violence in some areas of Kandy District were further remanded by the Teldeniya Magistrate M.H Fareek Deen after been produced before the Court today(14).

 A case was filed against the Thirty five suspects in Teldeniya Magistrate Court under five charges including making ethnic violence's.

The leader of the Mahason Balakaya ,Amith Weerasinghe was taken to the Anuradhapura Prison after the court order to remand him  further and other 34 suspects have been taken to Prison in Dumbara-Pallekale .Some of these suspects have been arrested by the Terrorism Investigations Division in various places of the island.

A Visiting British Rugby Player Has Died In Colombo Private Hospital Due To Breathing Difficulty -Another British Player Was Also Hospitalized Due To The Same Symptom

Related imageA 26 year old British Rugby Player Harvard Thomas Andrew who was a member of a 22 member British Rugby Team "Clems Pirates Rugby"arrived in Sri Lanka on 10th of May to attend a local Rugby Tournament has died last noon(13) after admitting to a Private Hospital in Colombo with breathing difficulties and another 27 year old Player of the same team is currently receiving treatment at the same Private Hospital for breathing difficulty according to the Police.

The deceased player and the other player who is in the Hospital along with other Rugby Team members had visited a Night Club in Colpetty in Colombo   last Saturday (12) night and after returning to their Hotel in Colombo Fort  early morning yesterday (13) ,Two players were rushed to the Hospital due to suffering from Breathing difficulties it has been revealed.

Before visiting the Night Club the British Rugby Team had played a Tournament Game and afterwards participated a dinner hosted at a Sport Complex in Colombo.

Meanwhile it has been revealed during the initial inquiry held regarding the incident that the two players suffered from bathing difficulty  had drunk alcohol and narcotics heavily during their visit to the Night Club.However the variety of the Narcotic the two players have used has not yet been revealed.

Around 40% Of The Local Asthma Patients Have Stopped The Prescribed Medicines For The Disease Half Way Which Caused The Disease To Re Appear Often

Around  40 % of the Asthma Patients in Sri Lanka have stopped their prescribed medicine use for the disease once the symptoms have disappeared  and as a result the disease appears time to time strongly according to the Secretary of the Chest Physicians Association Dr.Bodika Samarasekare.

Addressing a Media Briefing held at the Government Information Department In Narahenpita this morning (14) regarding the International Asthma Day ,He has stressed that an Asthma Patient can live a normal life if the prescribed medicines are taking under medical supervision .There is no permanent cure for Asthma in Western Medicine he said.

However the disease can be control effectively if the  patient can  take the Medicines  prescribed by doctors  continuously Dr.Samarasekare has revealed. 

The main symptoms of the Asthma are Breathing Difficulty,Ches Tightness,A Sound Came from Chest ,Cough and Sleep Interruption due to one of these symptoms according to Chest Physicians.
