"Government Says Private Bus Strike Is A Flop "

Silva has today (16)stated that the Island Wide Bus Strike launched by six Private Bus Unions with effect from midnight last night (15) has proved as unsuccessful.
The strike is not implemented in Seven provinces and only few routes in Western and Southern Provinces are being affected due to the strike he has stressed while saying that the newly introduced fine sheet system will not be cancelled at any cost.
Meanwhile The All Ceylon Private Bus Employees Union which leads the strike has stated that the ongoing strike against the new Fine sheet will continue tomorrow (17)as well.

Several Areas In Central Hills Are Without Electricity Due To A Fallen Tree
The tree had fallen on to the Power supply line due to a strong winds blown away across the Central hills.
Due to the Power cut several Tea Factories in the area are currently in without electricity it has been reported.
The Electricity Board is currently working to restore the power supply in the affected areas .
Around 100 Houses Damaged Due To A Cyclone Hit At Weerambugedara
Due to a Tornado type Cyclone accompanied with heavy showrrs which hits at Weerambugedara Divisional secretariat at Kurunagala District last morning (15) around 100 houses in the area have been damaged it has been reported.
Roofs of houses had flown away and huge trees had fallen in to houses due to the Cyclone .As Huge trees had fallen to the roads ,electricity supply too disrupted in the area according to the
reports. Army personal had attempted to repair the damages done to the houses and property the authorities have stated.
Around 16 Prison Officerst Attached To Welikada And Magazine Prisons To Be Transferred
Accordingly the Assistant Prison Superintendent ,Jail Guards ,Chief Jail or and Jailors attached to the two prisons have been transferred due to the charges levelled against them on corrupt activities it has been revealed.
Meanwhile Justice Minister Thalata Atukorale has today (16)stated that a new Prison Police Unit will be established soon in the Prisons Department.
The new Police Unit will be established due to the dissolvment of Prisons Intelligence Unit recently she has stressed.
A Youth Was Killed And His Twin Brother Was Injured Due To A Road Accident In Matale
A 30 year old youth was killed and his twin brother was critically injured
and hospitalized after a Lunu Middlla Tree had fallen on to the Three Wheeler they were travelling in at 13 th post of Matale-Wattegama road this morning (16).
The critically injured had been admitted to the Matale District Hospital for treatment.
The incident has occurred while the Three Wheeler was travelling from Matale to Wattegama area.The deceased were identified as residents of Yata watte area in Matale .

Colombo -Thalaimannar Daily Train Service To Be Restricted To Madawachchiya For Three Months
Daily Train Service travelling from Colombo Fort to
Thalaimannar will be restricted to Madawachchiya from tomorrow (17) up to three month period due to an essential renovation work carrying out at a large bridge located near 305-307 posts at Mannar according to the Railways Department.
Accordingly the three daily Train services travelling from Colombo Fort to Thalaimannar will be restricted to Madawachchiya until 16 th of November.
Meanwhile for the convenience of commuters a Special Bus Service due to be started from Madawachchiya to Thalaimannar with effect from tomorrow (17).
