297 Corona Positives Had Been Reported Yesterday (12)

 A total of 297 Corona positives had been reported yesterday (12) in the country ,increasing the total number of Corona positives reported so far to 87,286 according to National Covid -19 Prevention Center .

Accordingly 291 local Corona positives and 06  Corona positives who are Sri Lanaknn Returnees from abroad had  been tested positive for Corona virus yesterday the Center has stated .

At the moment 2803 Corona positives are being treated at Government hospitals and Quarantine Centers it has been revealed ,

Meanwhile the Sri Lanka's Corona death rate has increased to 0.6 percent for the first time since the pandemic began in the country last March .

Five Corona Deaths Reported Today(12)

 Another 05 Corona deaths had been reported today (12) in the country ,Increasing the total number of Corona deaths reported so far to 525 The Covid -19 Prevention Center has stated .

Accordingly 03 males and 02 Females resided at Akkareipaththu Moratuwa ,Wattala ,Ragama  and Polgasowita areas had died due to the Complications of non communicable diseases they have suffered from caused by Corona infection .

The deceased were of the ages 72,75,72,65 and 73 years it has been revealed .

Five Corona deaths had been reported yesterday (11) as well.

A Corona Positive Infected With South African Corona Variant Identified In Sri Lanka

A Corona Positive infected with South African Corona Virus variant "B.1.351 " had been identified in Sri lanka for the first time according to the Director of Department of Immunology and Moleculllar Science Dr.Chsndima Heewandaea .

Accordingly the Corona positive who had returned from Tanzania recently and currently at a Quarantine center had been tested positive for the South African Corona virus variant dr Jeewandara had stated .

The Department of Immunology and Moleculllar sciences of Jayawardanapura University had collected 85  samples from corona positives in  several quarantine centers including ones at Mahiyanganaya ,Awissawella and Biyagama area during last month and out off these samples 04 samples were foreign Corona virus variants including 01 South african variant and 03 UK Variant he has stated .

However 81 samples were belongs to Corona virus variant of Sri lankan origin dr Jeevandara has further stated .
