Fourteen Thai Females Have Been Arrested During A Raid Carried Out At A "SPA" In Colpetty
Fourteen Thai females attached to a
famous "SPA "(Body massage Center) center at Samudra Road ,Colpetty had been arrested by the Flying Squad officers of Immigration and Emigration Department over employing in Sri Lanka illegally during a raid carried out this week.
The Thai females had been arrested over arriving via Tourist visas and employed in Sri Lanka illegally according to officials .
As the Owner and Management of the "SPA"center were absent at the time of the raid ,They have been informed to give a statement regarding these Thai females employing mainly as sex workers ,to the head office of Immigration and Emigration Department .

A Person Was Arrested By Police While Attempting To Carry Heroin Hidden Inside A Rice Pack To See His Imprisoned Wife
Keselwatte Police have arrested a
person who had attempted to carry more than 4000 mili Grammes of Heroin hidden inside a Rice pack to see his wife who had been remanded over heroin snuggling charges on last Wednesday (12)near the Welikada Prison it has been reported.
The arrest was made as per the information received by the Anti Corruption Unit OIC of Keselwatte Police.
Police had followed him from Keselwatte area to arrest him near the prison .

Water Supply To Galle Urban Council Area Had Been Temporarily Suspended Yesterday Due To A Bursting Of A Water Pump

Board has suspended the water supply to Galle Urban Council area yesterday (23) temporarily due to a bursting of a Water pump pimping water to Galle Bikka Main water pond from Wakwella water purification center .
However the Water Board has taken steps to supply water to the Karapitiya Teaching Hospital continuously without any interruption it has been reported.
Due to the bursting of One out of the three pumps supplying water to Galle Bikka main pond caused this problem
However the water board had began the maintenance work to repair the damaged water pump.

IGP Had Instructed Police Special Investigations Unit To Probe

Pujitha Jayasundara has instructed the Police Special Investigations Unit to probe on the allegations leveled against the Director of Terrorism Investigation Division, Deputy Inspector General Of Police (DIG)Nalaka De Silva.
The Anti Corruption Force had complaint to the Police Commission that the DIG Nalaka De Silva is implementing a conspiracy programme.

A Wild Elephant Fallen Into A Well Had Been Saved After A Long Mission

Earlier the Wild Life officers at Sigiriya had attempted to taken out the Wild Elephant whose one eye is blind from the well by using Backo Machines, However it fails and with the assistance of Wild Life officers in surrounding areas including Bakamuna and Minneriya and residents of the area the Elephant had been taken out from the well today by using ropes.
One leg of the Wild Elephant was stucked in mud when the mission began .
After treating several gun shot injuries of His body the Elephant had been released to the forest.

President Informed Cabinet Ministers That Court Cases Should Be Filed Against Defense Forces Chiefs Who Had Charges Without Harrasing Them

today (13)informed the Cabinet members that if there are charges against chiefs of Defence Forces court cases should be filed against them without Harrasing them by arrest.
An Urgent Cabinet meeting had been summoned by the President this noon at Presidents House mainly to discuss on arresting and Harrasing of Defence Force chiefs it has been revealed
As there's a case against a former Armed Force Officer over abducting and dissapearing of 11 youths during previous regime ,a court case should be filed against him if there are evidence againsf him President has stated during the meeting.
President has also expressed his displeasure over the statement made by Minister of Wild Life Field Marshal Sarath Fonseka against current Army Commander and said it is not fair to criticize the Army chief by holding a Cabinet Portfolio which was agreed by other Cabinet members.

Two Students Had Been Injured Due To An Explosion At A Sabaragamuwa University Lab

hospitalized due to an explosion occurred at a Laboratory attached to Faculty of Applied Sciences of the University this evening (13).
The injured Students who are 21 and 23 year old had been admitted to Balangoda Base Hospital for treatment.

Colombo High Court Has Acquitted And Released Five Suspects Including An International Drug Dealer
Colombo High Court has today
(13)acquitted and released five persons including an Internstional Drug Dealer Mohommad Siddique arrested on 03 Rd of February 2003 over keeping 8.1 Grammes of Heroin in there possession at Maharagama area.
Colombo High Court Judge Vikum Kaluarachchi had ordered to release the suspects as the complainants of the case not able to.prove the charges against suspects without any doubt.
The evidence given to the court by Assistant Superintendent of Police Priyantha Jayakody attached to Colombo Crimes Division and other officers of the division who had raided and arrested the suspects were against each other High Court Judge has stated.
Attorney General had filed a case against the suspects .

Western Provincial Governor Has Cancelled The Orderi Of Importing Luxurious Chairs From Belgium.

Hemakumara Nanayakkara has ordered the authorities to cancel an order to import 125 Luxurious chairs to the Western Provincial Council at a cost of Rs. 640,000 per a chair from Belgium with immediate effect.
Western Provincial Governor has made this order after receiving a report of a committee appointed by him to inquire on the chair order.The luxurious chairs were to be imported to the Council as per the orders of Western Provincial Chief Minister I sura Devapriya.
However after the Leftist Janatha Wimukthi Peramuna (JVP) MP Lakshman Nipunaarachchi has made a written complaint to the Westetn Provincial Council Governor against the chair order, The Governor had temporary suspended the order and appointed a committee to inquire on this.
The Governor has ordered the authorities to order the required chairs to the Western Provincial Council from a local company .

the Cabinet by seeking approval to cultivate Cannabis locally for medicinal purposes ,Health Minister Dr.Rajitha Senaratne has decided to send a group of Ayurveda /Paramparika Doctors to an International Cannabis Conference to be held in Israel Shortly .
Addressing a Provincial Council Health Minister s Summit held at National Blood Bank at Narahenpita this morning (13) Health Minister has stressed that although inhaling Cannabis is bad for human health using it as a medicine proven as have health benefits through experiments conducted in Western countries .
Countries like Canada and Britain had already removed the ban imposed on cultivation of Cannabis for medicinal purposes and Canada has begun to produce nedicines by using Cannabis Minister has stated.
A programme will be implemented to take the illegal Cannabis cultivation Lands raided and taken in to custody by police under the Ayurveda Drug Corporation after consulting with Ministries of Judicial and Law and Order to facilitate using of Cannabis to local Ayurveda drug production he has further said .

Nursing Staff Of Colombo National And Kandy Teaching Hospitals To Protest Infront Of Those Hospitals Tomorrow (14)

National and Kandy Teaching Hospitals is due to conduct a protest campaign in front of those hospitals at 11.30 a.m tomorrow morning (14) by demanding solutions for several demands of Nurses including paying of 2016/2017 arrears of overtime paymemts according to All Ceylon Nurses Union .
Authorities have failed to.provide solutions for these demands for a long time the Union has stressed.

Cabinet Approved A Proposal On Upgrading Ratnapura Hospital To A Teaching Hospital
Seventy five Medical Undergraduates are due to be recruited as the first batch of Sabaragamuwa Medical Faculty by this December according to the Ministry of Health.
As Ratnapura Hospital is upgrading as a Teaching Hospital facilities will be developed to open a Professors Unit at the Hospital to facilitate clinical training of Sabaragamuwa Medical Students Health Minister Dr.Rajitha. Rajitha Senaratne has stated.
