Bribery Commission Had Filed A Case Against Former Attorney General And Two Others

The bribery commission had today (18)filed a case at
Colombo Chief Magistrate Court against three former officers including former Attorney General Mohan Pieris over the fraud and corruption activities occurred  during the purchasing of land and properties  belongs to Lanka Electricity Company during the previous government.

The three officials including former Attorney General ,Former Additional Solicitor General and former Secretary of Lanka Electricity Company are being issued  summons to appear before the court on 08th of March .

A Sudden Fire Has Been Erupted In Bolgoda Reserve

A sudden fire was erupted in Bolgoda reserve at
Aluthgama,Bandaragama area today (18)and it spreaded towards many acres of the reserve it has been reported.

The fire brigade trucks belonging to the Horana Urban Council have arrived in the scene and involved in dousing the fire according to the reports.

The cause of the fire has not yet been revealed.

Electricity Board Employees Strike Had Been Suspended

The Island Wide continuous strike launched by the
Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) workers since this morning (18)had been suspended by evening after the discussion held between the authorities and CEB trade union leaders at the Prime Minister's Secretariat  .

The strike which was launched against the Police attack over CEB employees during yesterday's protest campaign at CEB Headquarters and several service demands , had been suspended until 07th of February according to the Joint Trade Union Alliance of Ceylon Electricity Board.

If the authorities fails to provide solutions for their demands before 07th of February ,CEB Employees will launch an island wide strike again from 07th the Trade Union Alliance has stated.

Two laborers involved in a construction work of a newly Constructed building at Udagama Collage in Balangoda were killed after a sand mount had collapsed over them today(18) it has been reported.

Ministry Of Finance has today(18) withdrawn the two Gazette Notifications issued on lifting the ban imposed on purchasing and selling of Alcohol by women and women working in
in Liquor Bars and extending the business hours of opening the Liquor Bars after the Cabinet has  yesterday (17) decided unanimously to withdrawing  the Gazette Notifications.Ministry Of Finance had issued the two Gazette Notifications last week with the signature of Finance Minster Mangala Samaraweera under the excise ordinance.

Two Youth Have Drowned While Bathing In Sea Are Of Rathmalana

The bodies of the two who are of the ages 16 and 26 year old  had been recovered near the beach at Railway station in Rathmalana today(18).

The deceased have drowned while bathing with another friend .Police and Navy along with the resident of the area had launched the search operation to recover the bodies of them.

A Sudden Fire Erupted In A Reserve In Hatton Still Spreading

A sudden fire had been erupted in a Cultivation Reserve in Hatton near a Ruwanpura Mahaweli Village last night(17) and it  still spreading according to reports.

The fire now spreading towards the Roasalla area of Upcountry railway line and up to now steps have not  been  taken to douse the fire  it has been revealed.

Authorities believe that a fire lit by some persons or a person under the dry weather condition  prevails in there at the moment may have caused the fire .

In the reserve  a large number of endangered species like leopards,rabbits,deer,hedgehogs and wild boars as well as special varieties of birds owed to the mountains  lives in it has been reported.
