Chemical Storage Facility Where A Fire Erupted Not Obtained A Valid Licence -Environment Authority

 The Chemical storage facility at the Industrial zone in Katuwana,Homagama (Colombo District) which caught fire last Thursday (17) night had not obtained a valid Environmental Protection License(Epl) according to the Central Environmental Authority,The fire erupted in the factory had been doused by the fire brigade arrived in the scene.The smoke released to the environment had affected the Air quality in the area and the wastewater discharged from the factory had also polluted the surrounding area the Authority had stated.

The Central Environmental Authority is seeking is due to file a legal action against the Chemical storage facility.


facility which is being functioned since last December it has been reported.The authorities had advised the residents of the area to wear a face mask these days to avoid toxic gas inhalation.


Prices Of Chicken And Eggs To Be Slashed

 Due to the reduction of import tax imposed on Maize which uses to produce animal feed ,the prices of Chicken and Egg can be reduced soon according to the Association of Animal Production . Accordingly the Price of a Kilo Gramme of chicken can be sold at Rs.1200 and an Egg for RS.40 according to the Association.


The state Minister of Finance Ranjith Siyambalapitiya had announced yesterday(18) that the import tax imposed on Maize had been reduced by Rs.50 from Rs.75 to Rs.25 .


An Eighteen Hour Long Water Cut To Be Implemented In Colombo And Suburbs Today(20)

The National Water Supplies and Drainage Board had announced another 18 hour long unjustified water  cut scheduled to be implemented from 8 a.m today (19) until  2 a.m tomorrow(20)  in Colombo and the suburbs including in  four Municipal Council areas .


Accordingly this water cut will be implemented in Colombo,Dehiwala-Mount lavinia ,Kaduwela and Kotte Municipal Council areas and the Maharagama,Boralesgamuwa,Kolonnawa,Kotikawatte,Mulleriyawa pradesheeya sabha areas and Ratmalana and katubadda areas due to an essential maintainance work.

Govenment Reduced The Import Tax Of Maize

 Government had reduced the Import tax imposed on Maize by Rs.50 with the aim of reducing the prices of Animal food according to the State Minister of Finance Ranjith Siyambalapitiya .


Accordingly with this  price reduction the  new Import tax of  a Kilo gramme of Maize will be reduced to  Rs.25 from Rs.75  the State Minister has statellkkkkkk
