A Youth Was Killed After Colliding With A Train

A Youth was killed after colliding with a train
travelling from Aluthgama to Maradana at Bambalapitiya area it has been reported.

The identity of the deceased youth not yet been revealed and Bambalapitiya Police have sent his body to Colombo National Hospital.

A Motorcyclist Was Killed Due To A Road Accident

A 26 year old Motorcyclist was killed after the
Motorcycle he was riding colliding with a Lorry parked in a roadside at Senarathgama area on Padeniya-Anuradhapura road.

The critically injured youth Motorcyclist was admitted to Thambuttegama Hospital and later transfered to Anuradhapura General Hospital where he had succumbed to his injuries.

The deceased was identified as a resident of Ibbalamuwa area.

Galgamuwa Police have arrested the Lorry driver regarding the accident.

Twenty Seven Indian Nationals Arrested While Staying In Sri Lanka Illegally

The Immigration and  Emigrartion Department
officials have today (06)arrested 27 Indian Nationals who are staying in Sri Lanka illegally with expired visas in Vavuniya District.

The officials had taken into custody the expired visas of the Indian Nationals and they are due to deport to India on Monday (08).

A Sri Lankan Arrested With US Currency Notes And Cigarette Packs Illegally Brought To Sri Lanka

Airport customs officers had yesterday (05)arrested a
41 year old Sri Lankan who had attempted to smuggle US Dollers 25,000 and 120 Cigarette Packs illegally to Sri Lanka at Katunayake,Bandaranaike International Airport .

The US Doller currency notes were hidden in a small belt belonging to suspect  and the Cigarette packs were hidden in his luggage according to Customs Officers.

The estimated value of the US Dollers currency notes and Cigarette packs taken in to custody in possession of the suspect is around Rs.4 million it has been revealed.

The suspect who is a resident of Chavakachcheriya area was arrested after he was arriving from Chennai,India by a Sri Lankan Airlines flight.



Special Police Task Force Personal And Navy Recovered Two Hidden Stocks Of Kerala Cannabis

The Special Police Task Force Personal in Jaffna had
this aftern8on (06) recovered 17.760 Kilo Grammes of Kerala Cannabis hidden near the Thondamanaru Bridge in Velvatithurai area (Northern Province) as per an information received by them.

The stock of Kerala Cannabis recovered is due to be handed over to the Velvitithurai Police for a legal action.

Sri Lanka Navy too had today (06)recovered a large stock of narcotics including 90 Kilo Grammes of Kerala Cannabis hidden in the sea coast of Velvatithurai.


A Czech National Was Injured And Hospitalized Due To A Knife Attack In Ella

A Czech national has been injured and hospitalized
due to a knife attack received from his fellow countryman during a brawl occurred among them at a tourist hotel at  Halpe area in Ella today (06).

The injured was admitted to the Badulla Hospital for treatment.

Police have arrested the Czech National who had attacked the injured over the incident and he is due to produce before Bandarawela Magistrate Court

Eleven Persons Were Injured Due To A Road Accident In Southern Expressway

Eleven persons have been injured and hospitalized
after the Van they were travelling in veering off the road and colliding with a security fence of the Southern Expressway near the 95.5 Kilo Meter post at Imaduwa this noon (06).

The injured were admitted to the Karapitiya Teaching Hospital for treatment and the condition of two of them is critical it has been revealed.

The Van travelling from Galle to Matara veering off the road as a result of the driver's inability to control the speed of the vehicle according to reports.

Akmeemana Police along with the Southern Expressway Police are jointly conducting an investigation on the incident.
